Someone was bound to ask this sooner or later (maybe sooner than I thought and it's been posted elsewhere ::grrr2:: )

Which finale did you find superior? Buffy's much more happier, slightly closured ending, or Angel's much darker, cliffhanger ending? Personally, I thought Angel's series finale was much better. The finale and the series in general had a darker and more depressing feel which is what I enjoy.

Anyway, those are my thoughts, what are yours?
 
Hard to say..I've seen Angel's finale less than 8 hours ago..I need to think it all over...But they were both amazing
 
Love chosen and BTVS S7 but S5 and "NFA" was much better wrapped together (despite the obvious problems with not being given enough notice about the series cancellation) and very gripping. And the ending cliffhanger was awesome.
 
Angel's, definitely. It was dark and depressing and more emotional. I loved the cliffhanger.
 
I don't know. I'm still having mixed feelings about the Angel Finale. I only started to really appreciate 'Chosen' a few months after it aired. So can't answer this one just yet.
 
I love Chosen. I loved NFA to death, but Chosen was just... awesome. It wrapped up the season but it also wrapped up the show and changed so much, and the Sunnydale whole thing was so perfect. It felt continuey but it was also resolved.

Not taking away from NFA though. It was brilliant. These shows were just brilliant.... so hard to compare.
 
I can't really decied this, I've not seen the Angel finale yet but the minute my computer is working again propperly I HAVE to download it! xD
 
Oh...you're asking the impossible for me. I don't think you can really judge which was better because they were from totally different shows. Buffy's finale perfectly fit the ongoing themes of hope, triumph, and light in the darkest hours. Angel's was true to the show's themes of despair, the never-ending struggle, and dark hours where there ain't so much as glow-in-the-dark fingernails. Which one did I enjoy more? Can't even help you there...in Buffy, I got some Spuffiness, which usually would qualify it for the best episode in the world, but on Angel, I didn't have to watch Spike DIE ::crying:: !! So, this was basically just a really really long way to say: I can't choose!
 
Ain't seen Not Fade Away yet but it seems like it will be the better one. Nothing against Chosen but I thought it was cheesy. The emotional Buffy pre-war speech, the music, the set, the perfect happy ending. It looked like Joss was trying to go all LOTR with it. But for me it just oozed with cheesyness (is that a word?). The Angel final looks a lot up my alley. There is no small army of girls behind Angel. It's just 4 people against odds they know they can't win. But they are still gonna run in there and give it their all. It's not set in a huge CGI set. Just a small and dark alley with the pouring rain (which I love). The Angel final looks so much darker which is why I have loved the show for the last 5 years. Also with it being a cliffhanger no one can ***** about the way it ended (like some did with Buffy). What happens to Angel and the gang it totally up to whoever is watching it. That is something else I love about the way they did the final. Some people may like to think that Angel and co. killed the dragon and saved the day. While others may like to think that they all went down fighting. Angel is a show with a thousand endings. This was a very clever move by Joss and Jeffery.
 
Not Fade Away, by far. So much more like a series finale. Chosen was more of a season finale...Not Fade Away was what I expected from a SERIES finale...
 
I am going to go with Not Fade Away. Not because I am turning into a bigger Angel fan, it was the way they did it. I am glad they ended that way.
 
I'd have to say the Angel Finale. Don't get me wrong, I love how Buffy ended (except for Spike/ Anya dying ::crying2: ) but they ended Angel with more of a cliffhanger. Even though the cliffhanger's annoying I can't imagine another way they could end it. It left the ending for the fans to write and figure out (unless they do a tv movie but let's not get off topic 😉 ) and because it ended with them going into battle it leaves a lot of questions, did they get through? What happened? Did Angel slay the dragon? Probably the best cliffhanger I've ever seen, and hey, maybe we'll get lucky and they will do some kind of tv-movie special (I can always hope 🙂 )

I loved "Not Fade Away". It was an amazing episode. It was exactly how Angel should have ended, but not necessarily how I wanted it to end. I remember watching "Not Fade Away" and being on the edge of my seat. I couldn't wait for the next scene or the next fight. It was a truly amazing episode. As I was watching, the scene came to an alley. Angel, Spike, Gunn, and Illyria were the only ones left. Lorne had left. Wesley had died a heroic, but a sad and tearful death. As the four stood in the alleyway, I glanced at my clock, and was like, "What the hell?" There was only four or five minutes left to the show, and I knew how it was going to end. Typical Joss Whedon stuff, huh?

However, Buffy's finale, "Chosen", with its amazing fight scenes, shocking new slayers, Anya's death, Spike's heroic death to the save the world, and so much more, had me loving this finale even more than "Not Fade Away." Personally, I liked the somewhat closure we got at the ending of Buffy. I was like, "Okay, Spike is dead, but he died a good death. Buffy seems happy. They saved the world. Again." With "Not Fade Away", I stared at the screen. Blank faced and shocked. Could this really be the ending of one of my all time favorite shows? Are they dead or not dead? That is the question. In "Chosen", I loved seeing Angel and Buffy together again. I still, and always will be a Spuffy shipper, but seeing them together was great. And Angel's remarks like, "That's great. Everyone's got a soul now.You know, I started it. The whole having a soul. Before it
was all the cool new thing." Also, the way Spike was punching his drawing of Angel. Classic. But, mainly, I love having just a little more closure...
 
I added a spoiler warning to this thread title as us poor old UK-ers don't get to see Angel's finale 'til next week...
