The teams are as follows:

Team 1 (in no particular order)
1. Slayer, The
2. Cordelia
3. Elmo
4. Eset
5. Xander Harris

Team 2:
1.Prophecy Girl
2.Eponinethen
3. Maria
4. Jill Valentine
5.Kindred

The debate is on the following topic:BTVS is a special series made more so by the great mix of talented writers and actors.

Based on a coin flip done virtually by myself and nerd4hire (I flipped, nerd4hire pm'd me to call it 😀) Team 1 is arguing the following point:The writers are more important to the mix.

Team 2 is arguing the contradicting point:The actors are more important.
Each team has been provided with the password to a blog where they can work together to formulate their arguments. The rules are as follows. Your first blog assignment will be to decide on the order in which your team would wish to debate and post it here. I will expect an answer by the end of this week.
Once we get the order of the teams set, the first person from Team 1 will make their leading argument. We'll go back and forth with rebuttals until all team members have gone. Once that has happened and everyone has made their points, time will be given for the entire team time to discuss and come up with a closing argument that will stand for the whole team.

At the end of that, nerd4hire and I will grade the teams based on their responses and their ability to defend their position both individually and as a team.

The team with the highest score wins the debate.

Now, nobody outside of the debate team members can post in this thread. Rather if you want to join a seperate team, pm me or nerd4hire and we will set up a new team for the winners of this debate to face.

So, teams, set your order. And nerd4hire, post if I missed anything 😉

No, actually, that was just a list of who's participating. My first assignment was for the teams to discuss their debating order 😉

OK, sorry for the delay in answering your question Kindred. We judges were hammering a couple of things out.

Here is a more precise idea of the rules then, so you can figure out a time frame.

Within a week from today, or November 24, Xander Harris from Team1 will provide his teams opening statement.

Within 2 days from the time Xander Harris presents his opening statement, Kindred will provide her opening statement. She will not rebut Xander. This first phase will be for opening statements only. There will be no penalties for rebuttal in the opening statement, but a rebuttal in the second opening statement will not be considered for points.

After Kindred's turn we will alternate, as follows

Team 1 - SlayerThe
Team 2 - Eponinethen
Team 1 - Eset
Team 2 - Prophecy Girl
Team 1 - Elmo
Team 2 - Maria
Team 1 - Cordelia
Team 2 - Jill_Valentine

You can either rebutt previous arguements or present new arguements in this phase.

You will have 2 days between turns. After this we may penalize, or we may put in a sub, or possibly even both in the case of a late presentation. We'll give ourselves a week from the last presentation to do that.

After that Kindred and Xander Harris will present final rebuttal. No new arguements can be presented here, only rebuttal. It will be Xander Harris, then Kindred.

Following this will be the teams closing statements.

Team 2 will go first in this phase, as Team 1 went first in the previous phases. They will have a week to present their final arguement. Within 2 days after Team2 presents their final arguement Team 1 must present their's.

You can present an arguement early at any phase, but never late.

I don't know. Me and Jackly agreed to judge it. We took it on ourselves to help you organize. We can't judge anything if there's nothing there to judge though.

The rules are up there. It's ready to go. Why don't you find yourselves some subs, and start posting?

Um Wouldn't 1st off Kindred is on Team 2 so she would not go frist. 2nd Then I think 1st would be Xander Harris. Then Kindred so on and so frotuh...
 
Yup - eset and myself know what the rules are but our team seems to have gone AWOL! We can't get organised without them.
 
As far as I'm concerned it's still Xander Harris's turn. If he doesn't want to play, feel free to find a sub.
