So this being said, Buffy could have killed Illyria with the Scythe... Pretty cool. 🙂
 
I can gurantee an argument over Spike on this 'shopping trip'...I'm sure Buffy wouldn't like Illyria 'keeping Spike as her pet.' 😉
 
Oh, how could I forget about Spike? 😀 He would definitely be the one who stop them if they fight. 😉

So Buffy, or at least a Slayer using the scythe could kill Illyria if it came down to it? I hope it doesn't, but if it does, it'll be one heck of a fight.
 
From what I understand reading the info in that Wiki, the scythe could kill Illyria if need be. Pretty interesting stuff...

Not necessarily. We've seen before that certain demons are vulnerable to certain weapons. For instance, a werewolf can be killed with silver bullets, but they would only make a vampire angry, and the reverse would hold true to a werewolf being stabbed with a wooden stake. Just because the Scythe could kill one particular type of demon doesn't mean that it would work against all demons. More likely, there are several "Traditional Slayer Weapons," hidden throughout the world, each of which can kill a specific demon or group of demons. And just as likely, if one of those other weapons is ever needed, it will be made available by who or whatever has been guarding it for all these eons.

Very good point... I just always understood that Illyria was a pure demon in her day. But now that I think about it, when she was resurrected, she wasn't "pure" anymore 'cause she was in Fred's body, which would contaminate the demon side of her, right??

I think that's the point of the non-canon "Only Human" comics.
If they are going to go shopping, they should bring Angel... he *does* have a gay man's taste... plus, I can just imagine Illyria's face watching the three of them interact. 🙂

I think the point is that "pure demon" is not a species, but a family of different specieseses..es. Take the episode "Graduation Day", for example. There can be no doubt that Olvikan was a pure demon, yet he looked nothing like Illyria's true form. (I'm a bit fuzzy on whether Mayor Wilkins took Olvikan's form, or whether the giant snake was yet another species of pure demon; I seem to remember Olvikan's skeleton was described as looking like a mutated dinosaur?)

So it's not overly far fetched a theory to think what would hurt/kill an "Illyria type" demon could be useless against an "Olvikan type", and vice versa, and whatever kind the pure demon that was the progenitor of vampires and/or Turok'han would require another type of weapon still.

Let's say that the schyte can kill pure demons, all or just some, as in it's hard enough or whatever, but Illyria is HUGE and has lots of tentacles. Buffy's fast and resourceful, but I think she might need a little more than the schyte to take down Illyria. I think she should just get a few rockets and leave the schyte at home. Unless she finds Illyria's Akille's heal(hail?) and throw the schyte at it (like her brain, power source, etc etc).
 
Is Season 8 still canon?

Buffy does kill what appears to be a pure demon (one of the demon elite - the Tichajt) with a magic sword in Anywhere but Here.

So it can be done.
