Okay, so I don't know how or why I never noticed this before, but I'm watching "Never Kill A Boy on the First Date" and lo and behold, there's discussion of the Order of Aurelius in there! So I thought I'd start a thread here for discussing that connection between Buffy and Angel.

🙂

What's that Angel episode where Angelus is complaining about Darla being gone somewhere to be with the Master. I get the feeling he's not a big fan of the order of Aurelius.

At the same time doesn't The Master speak at one point of how he always expected Angel to be at his right side? Doesn't that suggest an expectation on The Master's part of some kind of loyalty by Angel to his vampire grandsire.

It makes me wonder, is the grouping of vampires around The Master determined by the siring line, or the Aurelius belief system?

Aurelius was a vampire prophet from the 12th century, right? If you follow his teachings are you a member of the order, or do you have to be able to trace your vampire bloodline (so to speak) back to The Master?

When Spike hits town he appears to recognize some sort or obligation of fealty to the Annointed One. Is that just because the other vamps are doing it? Is he supposed to have an obligation to (his great, great, grandsire) The Master's chosen succesor, or the Annointed One prophesied by Aurelius?

Then you have Kakistos. There is a group of vampires that appears to feel obligated to follow him. Why is that? Is there another vampire cult with other rites, rituals, and prophesies? Are they obligated by the siring line to follow the orders of Kakistos? Is it just because he's so tough they do as he says? Why don't they just take off?

It is the stuff of fanfic. Many possibillities there, I think.
