With the French Open in full swing thought it'd be a good time to start this.

I am watching on ITV4 and found their coverage quite poor compared with BBC's. Anyway I am currently watching Wozhiacki vs. Kuznetsova in the first set🙂
 
Awesome performance from Wozhiacki. She had a slow start, but worked her way into the match, and in the end played some great tennis, and won fairly convincing in three straight sets. Some of the big hitters up today including Nedal and Jorkovic.
 
Such a great story with 20 year old Jelena Ostapenko making her first grand slam final. She's number 47 in the world. Will be interesting to see how she does against the more experienced Simona Halep.

And will Andy overcome his clay jinx?
 
Oh, I love a bit of tennis. 😀 I follow Wimbledon more avidly than the other slams, although I do keep an eye on them. I am an Andy Murray fan and was way back when he was first around and less successful, less popular and more surly, ha. I don't tend to follow the women's tennis though.
 
Ostapenko winning today's final has to be one of the sporting stories of the year. She looks a fantastic talent and did so well considering she was a set down at one point. She was emotional after understandably. Lativa be proud!🙂
 
Am watching the first day of action at Queens and I can't help but think that all this politeness and back slapping could do with an injection of Jenna!😛
 
Boris is backrupted and JM's in trouble with the ladies again and that's just off the court😀

Its been an interesting first day of Wimbledon already. Laura Robson has always struggled to live up to her early promise so maybe no surprise she went out in the first round. Maia looked impressive.

Looks like Bublik could give Murray a few issues. Not sure I can see Andy winning again this year. Part might depend on if he can come through the early rounds without flareing up the injury. The women's draw is wide open this year🙂
 
I didn't realise Laura was out straight away, that is a shame. Andy is easily dominating the match so far, but the injury may well prove to be a problem if he keeps getting through, it hasn't been a strong year sadly.

Will be interesting to see how Watson does? She has taken Laura's place as the great young British hopeful in recent years. Think the Women's tournament is much more wide open than the men.
 
I like watching Dustin Brown so I'm hoping this is going to be a good match. I'll still be rooting for Murray of course. 😛
 
The Murray/Fognini match was pretty tense, and tetchy at points too, some amazing rallies. I haven't seen her play yet, but Konta seems to be doing well.
 
I've been really into tennis since I first started playing when I was 9. Even though I haven't played since I was 21 I still somewhat follow it.

Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic makes me so ashamed that they are representing our country with their wishy washy attitude towards the sport. Even though Llyeton Hewitt had a temper about him, he would give it his absolute ALL and would never give up- unlike these two young guns we have now. I honestly believe that Kyrgios and Tomic should be dropped off Tennis Australia's list of professional players and can re-join once they get their attitudes in check. This has been going on for a couple of years now and they're still both doing a crap job of representing Australia.

I feel like I jinks Sam Stosurs's matches- everytime I watch her she loses her matches. But at least we have her and Casey representing the girls for Aust.

Random fact- I have met Marcos Baghdatis in Melbourne as he was on his way to the Australian Open. He was such a nice guy! (We stayed at the same hotel)

In fairness to Kyrgios he went out of this Wimbledon because of injury. Not sure there is much he could have done about that.
 
I wasn't overly referring to his time at Wimbledon- although many people in Australia aren't impressed that he went out clubbing later that night. But his attitude in many other matches- clearly not trying hard. One match that comes to mind was so embarrassing about two years ago I think, where he wouldn't try getting the ball or just giving weak shots back. It was obvious that he wanted out.
I think attitude just grates on me. Same with Tomic. Past Aussie tennis stars have taken them both aside in the past and told them to work on their attitude.

Fair enough.
Was tough watching Andy struggling so much towards the end of yesterday's match. Once he isn't shouting at himself and is so subdued, it doesn't bode well. He did well to get this far really with the injury that has been plaguing him. I was hoping Muller would get through too, so not a great day yesterday for my picks, ha.

Looking forward to seeing Konta continuing today and hopefully that will be followed by Jamie/Hingis getting through the quarter final. Although, my wishing for those results may well be the kiss of death for them. 😳
 
Am watching Williams v Konta now. Got everything crossed the Brit can make it through. Williams is going to be hard to beat

Sadly she didn't manage it, had a good championship though and I'll definitely be watching her again next year.

Murray/Hingis got through. 😀
 
Pleased for Murray/Hingis, didn't know they'd got through. Konta played so well throughout the tournament and probably succeeded her own expectations, and there's no shame in losing to a Williams sister.
 
That was an excellent first men's semi-final. As the more in-experienced player Querrey played some wonderful Tennis and pushed Cilic all the way, but then Cilic did well to come back from a set down against such a good player. It was just a classic back and forth match. Federer remains the favourite, but I can see Cilic giving him a close final.

Bad luck to Konta yesterday. But she will be back and still has her prime years ahead of her. Because of the tough year she's had and that it might be her last chance to win a Wimbledon title I'm actually pleased that Williams has made the final again. Its a great story🙂 Its some what fitting too that Gabine Muguruza beat the other Williams sister in last year's French Open final. It should be a really good final tomorrow.
 
What a story we have brewing here! Don't think anyone saw this coming. Feel bad for Venus, but Muguruza has been breathtaking and would be a great champion.
