The Poor Man's Slayer?

From what I can remember The First didn't say the mortal coil was messed up because of two slayers because there had been two since season two. I thought it was Buffy's semi-botched ressurection.

Maybe when Faith was called there were slim pickings in the slayer box? Nah, I kind of disagree.

Whoever or whatever chooses the slayer may not have foreseen this turn to the dark side. But I still believe that Faith can redeem herself in the future and become a formidable force for good and a role model for the scythe-activated potentials, especially ones in cases like her.

I always imagined that who or whatever deals out the whole slayer thing (Sort of a cosmic Admin) hand it out to whoever has the greatest, no pun intended, potential, at that exact moment in time. The problem is, they can't factor for Free Will, as we've seen on several occasions. Faith had (and still has) enormous potential for good. She's got a fierce sense of loyalty, when it's earned. She's resourceful, tough, and when she's determined to do or get something or someone, the saints themselves couldn't stand in her way. She has a strong sense of right and wrong - she never lost that, even When She Was Bad, and she's strong enough to start from scratch when pretty much the entire world has written her off. If she chooses to apply her positive qualities for good, then she's a force to be reckoned with.

Faith was destabilised by various factors that were presumably beyond the Admin's control - Admin couldn't stop her mother drinking, or any of the other things that happened in her past, and given that Faith is slayer at all, one assumes they didn't factor for Buffy being alive. I agree that if Buffy had been absent from Faith's world, she would have been far better off, and more than that, I believe Faith would have been far better, full-stop. Better person, better Slayer.

Regarding a world full of slayers- this has got to cause enormous problems. Buffy and co, aside from making a thinly disguised point about feminist empowerment, have essentially created a super-race. Everybody who has the potential to be a slayer, will be. But this means that young girls who would never have been Chosen (Bench-warmer potentials...) have been given superpowers, and no way will any support network provide for all of them... So, given that Fray is canon, maybe at some point in the near future, one of the good guys finds a very good reason to revert back to the one-at-a-time system....

I dont think they chose to revert to the old one slayer system, i think that when all the scythe activated slayers die the slayer line will continue as normal, the world of slayers is only temporary although now that i think about it if faith where to die there would be noone to pass the slayer powers on to because all the potentials are already slayers, so im not really sure how it works

Well obviously, more potentials who were not scythe activated would be born and since the influx of slayers, Buffy and/or Faith would probably live to a ripe old age and not be able to pass the slayer line on, since it's pretty much agreed upon that either of those two or both (not getting into that) will pass on the line....my other theory is that when the slayer in Fray gets sucked into the portal with all the demons (we'll call her Buffy), the time moves in a Quor-toth like fashion which is why there is so much of a distance between the calling of this Buffy girl and Melaka Fray. But that's just my silly theory 🙂
