"Hello?" The teenage girl shouts as she walks into the dark abandoned factory. Earlier she had received a phone call from a friend telling her to meet him here at nightfall, which was strange because the factory has been abandoned for years. It had already become home to rodents, as well as homeless people and vagrants. Strangely though, there weren't any of those to be seen tonight. The girl kept walking further into the factory, still not finding her friend.
"Xavier? Where are you?" the girl called out.
A voice from nowhere asnwered the call. "I'm right here, Welor."
A young man stepped out from the shadows. Welor saw the man, then with instant recognition breathed a sign of relief, followed by a barrage of questions.
"What happened? Why did you want me to meet you here? We could have just met in Chrome like we usually do."
Xavier looked at her with a sad look on his face.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" she continued.
He stared at her for a few moments, then he finally spoke, "I'm so sorry Welor. I didn't want this to happen." Welor gave him a confused look then she turned around and saw another man right behind her. His face was like something she's never seen before. His yellow eyes appeared sunken in due to huge ridges on his face, he also had fangs. The creature swiftly grabbed Welor and sunk his teeth into her neck.
Welor Clemens shot up from her bed. She looked at her alarm clock and saw that it was time to get ready for school.
"Ay, dios mio," she groaned as she rubbed away the sleepyness from her eyes.
Welor has been having the same dream for a couple of weeks now. She didn't know what it meant. She got up and headed to the bathroom. When she opened the door to her room, she saw her mom standing in the doorway.
She let out a startled gasp, "Mami, you scared me." then put her hand on her chest, "What are you doing just standing there anyway?"
Her mom looked at her, "I was just about to wake you up. You're gonna be late for school."
Welor closed the door to her room then frustratedly replied, "I know, why do you think I'm up?"
She walked towards the bathroom and her mom called after her, "Welor, estas bien? You look a little bit jumpy."
Welor turned around and smiled at her mom. She didn't mean to snap at her like that but she was still feeling a little shaken up about the nightmare she'd had.
"Yes, I'm fine. I just had a bad dream that's all."
Her mom nodded and asked, "The same dream you've been having it for a while now? I think somebody is trying to tell you to be careful."
Welor sighed. Her mom is always telling her to be careful, don't talk to strangers, and blah blah blah.
"Mami, I'm about to be seventeen years old. Besides we live in Sacramento and it's not like this place is that bad."
Her mom frowned, "Fine. Just be careful. I don't want anything to happen to my only daughter."
Welor walked over to her mom and gave her a hug.
"Don't worry. I'll be okay. Nothing is going to happen to me."
Her mom smiled, "Okay, now you're really gonna be late. Go get ready for school and tell your dad to give you some money for lunch."
Welor groaned, "Esta bien!"
She went into the bathroom, took a brush and ran it through her long brown hair. Even though she told her mom otherwise, Welor was still worried about the dream. She knew that the creature in her dream was a vampire. Welor put the brush down and thought to herself, Vampires don't exist. Do they?
