Ok, so I'm rewatching season 7 for the second time, and I have to admit, I can't stand the lot of them. What a big bunch of whiny wannabeSlayers!

Thoughts?
 
I like some of them... But yes, I have to agree that they are slightly whiny. Especially Kennedy. 😀 I don't really mind Vi, but even she could've been done without.

I think that the main dislike lies in the taking away from the main characters, which oddly enough, happens in a lot of last seasons. 🙂 Not to get off topic, but the same thing happened in Charmed... Anyway, I suppose that in the other seasons, the main characters were the main focus. We knew them, for the most part we loved them, all was well. And then came the wannabe's, trying to steal the spotlight, kinda ruining the whole point of the show in a way. Or maybe that's just me. *Peers around nervously*
 
Its only Kennedy i cant stand. I kinda liked Amanda, Vi and Chao ahn, they werent whiny.
I think Amandas definatly my favorite ever since she kicked vamp ass in Potential, Kennedy was probably jealous when she heard.
I know alot of people hate Rona but i didnt mind her despite her moanyness.

Oh dear Kennedy..... :banghead:She's got her own thread going. Rona kills me. She's just as bad as The First, constantly being negative and questionong B's abilities as a leader. She really knew how to make everyone else feel like there was no hope.

As far as the potentials in general, they were pretty annoying overall. It bothered me that they never had much faith in Buffy and they all thought they knew what was best. :eye:
 
I don't mind anyone. I like Amanda the most. Then Vi and Chao Ahn. Just hate the fact that they sometimes have screen time more than The Scoobies. But if I was Buffy, I would really can't stand having too many girls in my house. It's too noisy. 😀
 
I hate Rona. In one of the episodes, she's like 'What is your deal with Spike guy?' and she never stops complaining, stupid tramp. I liked Molly and Chloe and it annoyed me when they died. Kenedy's not that bad but I hated it when she stood up against Buffy.
 
Generally I don't like the Potentials either. However one must remember that they are essentially a bunch of 14-17 year old girls who up until this point have been your typical boring neurotic teenagers. Now all of a sudden they're in a war to save the world being led around by some blonde waif with an attitude against some entity that can impersonate dead people.

I don't blame them for being what they are, it was actually decent writing. I blame the writers for bringing them in in the first place.


Boo! I have mixed feelings about Season 7 to say the least.
 
I have no problem with the potentials. To be honest, it's no surprise they were whiny, they were terrified. Most of them were only intended to be a bit older than me and they had so much to deal with; I'm guessing not all of them knew they were potentials, so that would have been a big deal in itself, those that did, if they had watchers they'd have lost them when the council blew up. The bringers wanted to kill them, and then things only got worse when Caleb came on the scene.

I empathise with them, 'cause I can imagine that would be pretty hard. And as far as Kennedy, Rona, etc. being annoying; it made it all the more interesting, because they all had such distinct personalities, it would have been so much more confusing if all the potentials acted the same, especially in moments like Molly and Amanda died, it really got to me; had I not been able to remember who they were, it really wouldn't have bothered me much, just another dead potential.
 
I hated them, especially Kennedy and Rona, i wish they had died in the finale. That would have made Season 7 the best just for doing that.

Oh and Vi is my favourite, maybe its just because of my Felicia Day bias, but yeah. Felicia Day <3

The first time I wasn't too fond of the potentials but now they don't bother me that much. I don't mind their role in the story but besides taking time away from the main characters they're so many that we hardly know anything about them with a slight exception for Amanda. Some might argue that we know a lot about Kennedy but I don't agree. But of course we know more about her than most of the potentials.

They're being whiny? I can only agree with what's being said already. Most of them get thrown in this situation without knowing much of it. All they know is that they got a bunch of scary munks (bringers 😉) trying to kill them, being saved/manage to escape, get told that monsters are real, brought to a house with a bossy blonde that´s supposed to be their leader/savior but she gets brutally beaten by an übervamp and told they need to fight these things or they're all gonna die. So they saw a certain death before them. Compare to Buffy not wanting to be a Slayer in the beginning or Faith coming to Sunnydale running for her life trying to escape what she saw as someone she couldn't beat. I say the potentials handled it pretty well.

The best transformation Vi goes through. Just watch her fight in Chosen. Way better than that Spuffy scene. 😉

I don't think that we were ever really supposed to like the Potentials that much, or even get to know them very well. They were, for the most part, exactly what Anya called them :cannon fodder. On "Star Trek," they would have been the guys in the red shirts who beamed down with Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. They were the ones who you never really expected to return from the mission alive.

As far as the characters were played, they were for the most part a bunch of scared girls who, for the most part, had had little or no training or indoctrination in exactly what they were getting into. probably the majority of them had never been away from home before, at least one couldn't even speak the language, and they were all crammed into a house with three bedrooms, one bathroom, and way too many vampires and demons outside just waiting to enjoy a nice fresh Potential happy meal on legs. Add to that, they were facing a Big Bad who could be any dead person it wanted to be, which in and of itself could have been pretty upsetting. (Luckily, the first Evil must not have had much of a sense of humor. Just imagine one of those girls, finally getting her turn in the shower for a few minutes of water, soap, and solitude, and Abraham Lincoln suddenly pops up right beside her and whispers, "Want me to wash your back?" Now THAT would be pure evil!)
 
I'm watching season 7 right now (I'm on LMPTM- love love love that ep) and I'm wishing that Rhona and Kennedy would have the opportunity to meet pre-ensouled pre-chipped Spike. I HATE them more than any character on any show ever. They really should have died in the finale.
 
I thought most of the potentials were whiny, irritating and poorly acted at parts. Kennedy was quite fit though.
