Where were they during season 5?? It just seemed like they gave up on Angel after he took over WR&H, They made no effort to contact him, except for Cordy and even then I think that was Cordys idea, she says they owed her a favour. I don't understand why they would not have made more of an effort trying to make Angel leave WR&H

They might have been around, but in Season 5, there was no one that Angel had to relay their message. He couldn't be proactive any longer through those means.

I wonder what they thought of Angel & Co. taking over W&H? I mean, it all worked out in the end, but it so easily might not have.

Good question. I never really thought about it. I think that they probably kinda gave up on Angel much the same way the Scooby Gang did. I think they thought he was corrupted and wasn't in it just to help the helpless anymore.

Well,Angel only had one link to the PTBs and that was Cordy.Obviously she was in a coma so maybe the powers decided that since she only has one more vision in her,that it should be a big one.So they gave her the Lindesy one.They gave her that vision so that she can help him.I mean if it wasn't for Cordy,the failsafe would've been activated,Angel wouldn't have a weapon,and Angel wouldn't even know about Lindsey since there was no vision to guide him.They also stepped in when they gave Angel the vision of the black thorn.I think that maybe the powers gave Angel just the help that he needed since he already had the resources of W&H to replace the visions.

there wasnt ANY vision of lindsey. They stumbled upon it when they learned "Doyle"(Lindsey) sent spike to bite Cordy.

Yes there was a Lindsay one, in You're Welcome. Its the one that wakes Cordy up, she sees the Tattoos, thats why she knows what she is looking for with Wesley.

Well, to me this could be down to three things.

Firstly, the obvious one, Cordy was no longer there to pass on the visions to Angel, therefore they may just not have been able to contact him. Clearly there had to be a conduit or what would have been the point of putting Doyle or Cordy through the agony of the visions.

Secondly, they may just have decided that Angel was no longer the champion that they believed him to be. He had agreed to work with the Senior Partners and so his might have devalued him in their eyes.

Thirdly, and the one i tend to really believe, Angel was exactly where the PTB wanted him to be. They chose Angel as their champion for a reason and they must have been aware that he was important to the Senior Partners as well. I reckon that they had always planned to position him at Wolfram and Hart and let things run the way that they finally did because they knew that ultimately Angel would do what they wanted and bring the firm down.

Now whether that meant they were willing to ultimately sacrifice Angel and his team or whether they planned to step in with some form of help that night in the alley, who knows? I have always believed that if Angel and co. did survive the end of Not Fade Away then it was because he had help from the higher powers.

I don't think that TPB abandoned Angel. The circumstances of S4 with Cordy put her into a coma and TPB couldn't send any messages. I tend to think that Lorne was somewhat of a connection Angel has with TPB but Lorne's ability to sense shifting karma of good and bad around him is not as powerful as a direct vision like Cordy would get. So Lorne was the closest link Angel had to TPB but he slowly got consumed with his own life that issues presented by TPB were not as prevelant. I think Lorne could have received some messages had he actually tried to find them.
