Did anyone else think the scene where Joyce was in bed going crazy saying "stop staring at me I don't like it" and at first you think she is just talking nonsense then it shows that demon staring down at her while she is laying there kind of unnerving?

One of the more underrated creepy moments of the series in my opinion.
Something about crazy people already creeps me out (especially when its people who are normally sane), but the queller demon itself was also pretty terrifying.

Personally, I just found the whole situation unnerving: Joyce going crazy, Buffy being overwhelmed with sadness and confusion, Dawn worrying about her mom. All of that together made that scene darker. The creature itself looked cheesy and in a normal, cheery episode could even have been funny. 😉
I Agree the creature itself was rather low budget however, by that point I had learned top overlook the quality of the demons at times. That said, I meant more the entire situation being creepy which as you made clear you agree with.

The queller scene is fantastic- yes the demon is cheesy, but the emotion- I was spoiled that Joyce was going to die so the dread was already in there, as well as Buffy's emotional breakdown (whoever says doing household chores are an effective coping strategy, I'm not convinced) and Dawn covering her ears with her pillow- it was so painfully realistic to me to how people cope when something is up with a parent.
I got a sense that it was already a demon- there were shots of the demon following the Summers home, as well as the investigation the rest of the scoobies were doing. However- the mere image of joyce seeing the demon on the ceiling- and not screaming, moving, jittering, panicking... instead yelling at it was quite terrifying.

I think the whole episode is kinda creepy. It has a totally X-File-ish atmosphere with that alien thing. Reminds me of the sewer thing in that one X-Files episode.

I agree, it was creepy because of the reality of it all. Like much of season 5, it pulls at you more than other seasons because the main heart and problems that are dealt with are so very personal and real--and that is why it makes them so dramatic and frightening.
