I love Listening To Fear.
The queller scene is fantastic- yes the demon is cheesy, but the emotion- I was spoiled that Joyce was going to die so the dread was already in there, as well as Buffy's emotional breakdown (whoever says doing household chores are an effective coping strategy, I'm not convinced) and Dawn covering her ears with her pillow- it was so painfully realistic to me to how people cope when something is up with a parent.
I got a sense that it was already a demon- there were shots of the demon following the Summers home, as well as the investigation the rest of the scoobies were doing. However- the mere image of joyce seeing the demon on the ceiling- and not screaming, moving, jittering, panicking... instead yelling at it was quite terrifying.
