The rebirth of Hammer horror

Those of you with MySpace (the majority I'd bet) will probably be aware that the long dormant Hammer Horror film studio has been revived, with a brand new film they are screening in parts on MySpace, a vampire flick called Beyond The Rave. Looks pretty good so far, they've updated the format quite well. Think Buffy meets Skins with a great dollop of gore (it's Hammer, of course there's gore!) The story concerns a young soldier who has 16 hours compassionate leave before his unit head into the most conflicted area in Iraq, so he decides to spend 'em with his best friend Necro (a nickname) and his girlfriend. Unfortunately, his girlfriend has only gone and wandered off with (unbeknowest to the solider and Necro) a coven of vampires. He has to find out where the latest rave is so he can find his girlfriend...and probably get horribly killed in the process. Episodes One to Three are already online, they add a new episode on Mondays and Wednesdays. The ARG is also quite good, been playing myself.

Oh, for the days of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee! I haven't even thought of the films of Hammer in years. Almost everything that they made belongs in my "Favorite Bad Movies" list. I just hope that their new stuff measures up to the legends that went before them.

Huh. Wonder how I've missed this? I've been checking Hammer's website off and on for three or four years now to see what's going on with them.
