Hey everyone, I'm a bit of a lurker so I'm unsure if this thread goes here :confused2:

I come here, humble, requesting your help. this Halloween I'm going to go as sfx magazines voted number one vampire

SPIKE!

I have the jacket (I love it, it snot replica but close enough) the jeans, boots , t-shirt, belt and attitude (I Want a good spike impression down by Halloween) the only problem is I cant manage to find that red shirt he wears. the problem is it isn't just red its a kind of pin striped one with a lighter color of the red as one of the stripes. (this is what I've seen studying the show but i could be way off). I have no clue what to look for apart from 'pin striped red shirt' on Google which doesn't turn up much. has anyone got a shirt like spikes and willing to give me helpful suggestions on where i could acquire one?

If it had pinstripes, I think it's hard to tell. I think if you wore a plain red shirt you'd be fine. 🙂 Good luck on this, I'm thinking of dressing as Buffy or Faith (i'd love to dress as Buff, but I'm a brunette).
 
The great thing about ebay is that there is always random stuff popping up. If you have the time and effort then just look through every single red shirt on ebay!

I've dressed as Buffy before (Prophecy Girl Buffy) and had sooo much fun with it! I ended up having to buy three different dresses/skirts to make the dress, and then looked around Good Sammys for the daggy 90's shoes. Whittling a stakes in my backyard before the party was fun to!

Whittling stakes was the highlight of the night! Until I got close to the club and realised that I might get arrested for carrying a weapon! I reckon a girl could dress up as Spike easily! Just get yourself a wig and go nuts! Of course if you wanted to do a girl vamp there are plenty of choices - Darla, Drusilla, Sunday or Harmony off the top of my head. Or you could dress up as evil Faith with the knife sticking out of her stomach. Or Glory/Ben and have half of each character on each half of your body. Dark Willow/Vamp Willow would be a fun one as well.

I think I get a little over excited at the prospect of dress ups.... I think I better leave this thread now!

Thanks for the tips, but I just don't really ever dress up as anybody. I don't really have many opportunities to do so or people to do it with. My friends would think I was weird, although I did attend an anime/manga convention thing with the

Sorry, my reputation comment wouldn't fit, so:

I don't think any of them would dress up as a Buffy character because none of them watch it. Well, one friend has watched the first three seasons, but I'm pretty much alone in my Buffy the Vampire Slayer obsession. And because of that I'd feel awfully weird dressing up. 😛

On a random note, I wish I'd been into Buffy before Supanova this year, because James Marsters was there and I would have killed to see him/ get his autograph.
 
I went to the Perth supanova and it was so much fun! No James, but we got charisma and Eliza which I was pretty happy with! There was a guy dressed as Spike and it was amazing! I'd put a photo up but we're not aloud to post pictures of ourselves 🙁 maybe when I get home I'll blur myself out and post the photo!

Cool! You could pm or email the photo. Lucky you! I plan to go to Supanova next year in Sydney, but I don't know who will be there.

Hopefully that's not breaking any posting pictures of yourself rules. I don't really get what the point of the rule is... So hopefully this will be okay? Mods - remove if you think it's not.
 
My husband is going to Dragon*Con this year as Spike. He found the striped red shirt you're talking about at a Goodwill. Like [somebody up there] said... It's all lucky findings: Goodwills and Ebay, etc. 😛
We have the opposite problem of yours: We can't find the perfect jacket. We keep finding more Angel jackets than Spike ones. 🙁
 
I have a trench coat that is very similar to Spike's. I found it at a estate sale.

As for the red shirt, I'd agree your best bet is eBay or Goodwill - just keep looking! The shirt isn't completely nessesary, though.
 
I would agree that the shirt is BOTH difficult to find and not entirely needed if you have the trench.

However---
I have a red Spike shirt that I had made to specs that I would be willing to sell you if it's in your size.
It doesn't have the striping but it would be easy to add with a ruler and a brown or red sharpie.
The stripes are a little bit darker red than the shirt and easily fool the eye's.
You could undoubtedly get away with placing a few of them down the front on each side seeing as that's the only part that shows when you have the trench on.

This photo is for reference and is one I cropped down YEARS ago and just pulled out of stores.
If I need to remove it please let me know and I will do so!
I also have a couple of Leather Trenches that I'd be willing to let go as well!
But NO-ONE get's me boots!

I may end up putting this costume up on E-Bay.
It will come with the red shirt, the Double-Breasted Leather trench coat and probably include a Blonde,Glue on, Hair-line extender...
