Well, it's a good ending to 2006 with two SMG movies in a row!

I am very excited to see The Return. It looks freakin scary, but I still want to see it.

Anybody else? Thoughts/comments?

I agree, this looks like it will be good. I love the fact that SMG is sporting the dark hair again. I <3 her with dark hair even more than Eliza!

YOU LOVE DARK HAIRED SMG MORE THAN ELIZA??!! :O
OMG i think i may have just had a heart attack...cause of what ILED just said lol

I'm so looking foward to this movie... It looks really good, I love SMG with the dark hair it suits here nicely lol

ya I cant wait for this movie to come out and I hope it will be a box office success.

I have been trying to find movie reviews of it but they just goto the 2003 movie The Return.

I was so excited about this when I saw the trailer on IMDB... it looks so scary and so awesome. Plus, SMG with dark hair, yay! Can't wait!

There is a review here but beware, some if it is kind of spoilery for the movie!

I love dark-haired SMG too!

I saw it last night! It was awesome. Scary, but good. I love Sarah. She is great in this movie.

I do have to say though, that there might not be talks about her ever slimming body...she had a much larger-than-we're-used-to behind!

I have to say that I was highly dissapointed in this movie. It is my least favorite Sarah movie so far. Most of the movie just seemed way to slow, and there were to many car scenes. There were some good scenes but not enough for me. And the ending was bad, it couldve been soooo much better, and it kind of reminded of the ending of Buffy.

Maybe I will have to watch it again but right now not my favorite movie.

I dont plan no buying the dvd when it comes out unless a directors cut comes out or the special features are good enough.

Being the loser I am, I will buy it on DVD, because I'm a Sarah nut!

But like I said, I did like it. But, my hubby and mother would agree with you Primal Slayer. They didn't really enjoy it too much!

According to Whedonesque it looks like The Return hasn't exactly done the numbers Sarah would have hoped for. It has opened in 8th place earning just 4.8 million dollars. Not great.

Poor SMG. She just can't seem to find that one hit movie that will earn her true a-list status in the movie world.

But I wonder though if she takes movies because they are not going to be huge blockbusters. I mean, no actor/actress wants a dead movie, but she likes to go for the underdogs.

She will still always have a large fan following though because of her earlier fame!

well its not like she hasnt had great movies in the past since she has, she just doesnt go with the usual A-List Actor Movie. As far as we know, she never really goes for the A type Movies, always the B/C movies. She doesnt do the usual romantic comedy, or the nice dramatic movie.

I cant say that im surprised that it wasnt that good at the box office, I wish it was since I absolutley LOVE her and want her to succeed but noone that I know liked the movie, and the movie theatre that I went to yesterday wasnt even near full for a movie out on its second day.

And I hate to typecast her but I found it kind of hard to see her as the weak emo girl in this movie. I was like "bring out the Buffy and kick his a$$!"

But atleast she is getting postive acting reviews.

Now they just need to get Southland Tales out sometime since thats a movie that could get her from being a 87% B list Actress up to 89/90% borderline A list actress

I went to see it - no, it wasn't very crowded for an opening weekend night. It wasn't very good, if I were a critic I'd rate it a C-. The only reason I won't give it a D is because I liked some of the photography and I like that they tried to make a scary movie without resorting to fancy special effects and cheap gross-out.

IMO Sarah Michelle Gellar doesn't act very much in this one. Joanna just wasn't very interesting. Her character in "The Grudge" was a lot better. I don't blame her, I think the writing was off. The movie is short, just about 80 minutes as the review above says, and that was enough for me.

I think SMG could find better parts than this.

Utter, utter crap. I just watched this today and had to resist the urge many times to shut it off. So boring. Hardly and dialogue at all. Not what it was advertised as. It was suggested that it was a horror. It was barely a thriller. Also The ending made no sense to me. I know what happened now but to me, the fact that I had to read else where what was supposed to have happened means the movie did not do its job. Nothing happened for the longest time.

One good point though. SMG looked amazing. And I dont even like her.

I did not enjoy the film sadly. I thought the storyline was great, just wayyyyyy too slow. If it hadn't been for Sarah, I would have turned it off.

I actually really enjoyed this film - I downloaded it a while ago but it's been sitting on my computer forever, because I just wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, but after finally watching it I have to say I thought it was quite a decent film and I'll buy it on DVD soon.

I didn't think it was THAT slow - I thought the pacing and all the shots of the scenery were well done and they helped keep the mood and atmosphere, and the washed out color was awesome.

My problem is, it's not the movie that the previews lead you to believe. I mean, I liked what it actually was, but the trailer made it look a lot different, and scarier, and I sort of wish the actual film was what the trailer promised.

*shrug*

I loved this movie. I didn't have any trouble with the pacing of it.

And, to me, it is scary. Like when she sees the woman in the mirror. Yikes. That's scary! 🙂

But I'm also very wimpy.

"The Return"

I missed this movie at the theater, and just got around to seeing it on DVD. I have to admit that I wasn't really expecting a whole lot, given my low opinion of "the Grudge," but it was pretty good. Granted, "the Return" won't top the list of all time great movies, but I would recommend it to anyone interested in a slightly spooky murder mystery. Maybe there's hope for Sarah's big screen movie career after all!
