Riley-still the worst??

As the last thread was closed I wanted still to talk about Fish Boy aka Riley...

So do you like him??
 
i tink riley wasnt as good as the other bf of buffy cos they wernt as mysterious or dangerous or even had history with her.

im glad he left but i still cryd. talking of cryd i cryd wen angel died,wen buffy died in season5 and the last episode of buffy in season 4 boo hoo!!!
 
I didn't get to post in the last thread. My opinion on Riley is he sucked, he ruined most of season 4 and the beginning of season 5. I don't get what he was whining about when he said Buffy didn't love him 🙄 Buffy had problems in her family, he is an idiot for laying this on her.
 
I wasn't overly sad when he left, but I think you have to look at Riley in terms of what Joss and company were trying to accomplish with his character.

He was never intended to be a true love for Buffy like Angel was. He was supposed to be (and they harped on this forever) nice, stable...in short, he was safe and boring. Because that's what Buffy needed at that point in her life. Sure, he turned out to be a pawn working for a morally ambiguous black-ops military operation, but he was still safe and boring. And later, he turned to pimping out his arteries to vampire crack-whores because he knew Buffy didn't love him but he couldn't bring himself to leave her in order to find emotionally fulfilling love with someone else...but he was still safe and boring.
 
I am an out of the closet Riley, FAN!!!! He wasn't bad, he was totally devoted. I'm one of the very few who actually enjoyed him being on the show

Personally I didn't mind Riley...now Wesley on the other hand.
 
I think Riley was a decent character. I think the reason why people hate him, is because they saw him as the Angel replacement!
 
I agree with you on that one Lilah, I think thats the same reason why a lot of people didn't take to Kate.

I don't ever see Riley as an Angel replacement. He is just a regular character to me. I sometimes kind of see Spike as a replacement for Angel. They only reason why I can't stand Riley is because the writers made him out to where everything had to be about him. He wasn't interesting, he didn't have anything there for the writers to go on.
 
Giles- well I kinda see him that way because no one can replace Angel, not even Spike, but I also hate Riley because that whole initiative thing was boring, and he was human which means DOOMED, Buffy belongs with vampires, duh! lol. 😛 Plus his personality and voice bugs me.

ana8- thanks for making this new thread- I love talking about how much I hate Briley since I had all these feelings enclosed inside waiting to get out. Ofcourse if I could say what I really wanted to say about Riley than I'd be banned from these boards 😛 Why do they call him fishboy anyways?

I also didn't like Initative idea and come on Riley isn't really handsome...
 
he's just normal..and we got used to either v. good looking guys or ugly ones..And he really did some stupid things to get Buffy's attention...
