The Ring vs The Grudge

According to Variety, a teaser has popped up online for a Japanese movie called Sadako Vs. Kayako, which will find Sadako, the unsettling long-haired ghost girl from The Ring, facing off against Kayako, the other unsettling long-haired ghost girl from The Grudge. Plot details are not available, but the movie is due for release in Japan in 2016.

Ringu (The Ring) and Ju-on (The Grudge) were two of the most popular titles to break out during the initial Japanese horror wave of the late '90s and early '00s. Both spawned sequels and prequels and reboots in their native country, along with English-language remakes here in the U.S.; those remakes in turn inspired their own sequels (the latest, Rings, is due for release on April 1). They led the way for a long string of Japanese horror outings and English-language counterparts, including Pulse, Dark Water and One Missed Call, among others.

Hopefully it's better than Freddy vs Jason, but hey, it's a chick fight, it has to be.

Hate this idea, it just this modern concept that you can just stick anything which worked perfectly well separately together and it will make for good viewing, but it doesn't work like that. Pure cheapness.

It's hardly a modern concept at all. It's kinda a staple in Hollywood (granted, this is Japan but still) it's been done for over 50 years.

Really? I can't think of many examples outside of the last decade. Guess I was also thinking when they do it with classic books, like the Jane Austin with Zombies idea.

Is 4D used in horror films only, it is where the seat behind you comes to life and taps you on the shoulder?

King Kong vs Godzilla, Godzilla vs Mothra, Abbott & Costello Meet (fill-in the blank), Frankenstein Meets Wolfman, House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, Dollman vs Demonic Toys.. I'm sure I am forgetting some.

They are like those old 60's movies where they had Smell-O Vision and Tingler seats. I went to one at a zoo once, it was enjoyable, don't think I would want to see a picture in 4D. (I can still feel the feeling of rats running across my feet though as I just now think about it.. and breeze blowing in my face.. maybe a 4D horror movie could be cool!)

Hahah well while I'm not denying that women can fight brutally...I'm just thinking about their powers...they both seem to kill off screen. With Freddy vs Jason for instance they fight physically...and they each have their own weapon. All that I can see in my head when I think of the grudge/the ring girl fighting is both of them keeping score of how many victims they kill which seems lame. But who knows, maybe they'll take up boxing in this movie...I am hoping for a Harmony/Xander showdown though.
