i like alot that shapeshifting idea, you know?

you've heard of it, right? the next big bad is supposed to be shapeshifting thing who comes as the worst fear of each character... which means why warren, glory, the master, adam and others are supposed to come back...
i think it'll be very cool

If you notice, Giles first mention of a "shiftshaper" was in season 5, "the Replacement". He thought that the demon they were chasing might had been one. He was wrong, ot was "toth". But that episode might tie in to this season. Think about, who hire "Toth" to go after the slayer?😱
 
I had forgotten about that. Will this shapeshifter be brought by spike?? Can't wait to find out. Only 4more days!!!!!!!
 
I read in the TV guide that Spike brings a demon with him when he comes back from Africa.
 
They are showing Season 5 again where I live...and I must say that Glory is really turning into one of my favorite villians. Forget the Master...bring back the Devil in the Red Dress(and pumps).
 
that shape shifting thing was so cool! at first i saw warren and was like.."wtf is he doing there.?" and then he shifted into glory and my jaw dropped, b/c i really thought that she had come back. silly me. and then it was so cool how they went back through all big bads from the previous seasons and then ended w/ buffy talking about power again. hurray for a new season!

I have to agree Helga I saw Warren and I was like what the ? then GLory but I must say seeing Dru was also alittle shocking as well I cant wait to see what this runs into through out the season .
 
How many times, it may be a ShapeShifter, but I tend to doubt it. Its possible it is, if it is, I have no idea who. But, I have a feeling that the Big Bad could be a Slayer, but who knows?
 
If the shapeshifter is supposed to manifest itself as the worst fear of who's in front of them then why did Spike see all the big bads? Do you really think Spike fears all those people? I can understand Spike seeing Dru and Buffy, but did he really fear Glory, the Master, and the Mayor?

I like the idea of the shapeshifter manifesting people's worst fears though, but I don't know if this is where they're going.
 
I think he just showed all those people as a delightful reminder to Buffy fans. When this "big bad" decides to make his presence known, he will probably attack everyone, one by one.

Also, Archmage48 sort of gave me some forsight into why Faith is coming back...
 
But the shapeshifting creature must be older than the old ones. So i was thinking that the hell mouth itself, is the big bad. And that since each one of the big bad's has died in sunnydale, that it somehow obsorbed their memory etc. and actually put together exact copies of each of their bodies into one body. And put it's, the hell mouths, consciousness (sorry bout spelling) into the body. So thats what i think.
 
I really believe the Big Bad has a lot to do with the Slayer. Remember what the Master said, "It isn't about right OR wrong." So this might not nessacarily be what we expect. I do think the Hellmouth will play a prominent role in whatever it is, but I don't think it will be what everyone thinks. Remember, the whole Slayer thing is as old as the demons and vampires, so Back to the Beginning might not actually mean the Old Ones. Also, why are we assuming the Shapeshifting deal was evil? Nothing it did struck me as overtly evil, could be whatever that was is something akin to what Whistler is? Not really good or evil, but more interested in maintaining the balance between the two? Also, I expect Dawn to play a role in this, and a pretty big one. Remember, it has a lot to do with old stuff, and the Key is nothing if not old. Remember Glory said the Key was almost as old as she is, which could easily place it in the 'Back to the Beginning' concept. And given that Dawn is a first, The Key in human form, that could have all sorts of repercussions. Dawn's true nature has never been very well discussed, and Willow alluded to the fact that Dawn is still in truth a green ball of energy, not truely human.
 
Everybody's theory is interesting. I also think the big bad is somehow related to the Hellmouth. And remember Anya was told that something old was rising again. I'm still trying to figure out how this all relates to the girl in Istanbul. UGH! I'm out of theories at the moment...it's just so confusing!
 
Spike knows the answer

Here's my take on the Big Bad. (I'm quoting 7.01 and 7.02, just so you know🙂

I think that we have to consider Spike's words from 7.02 very carefully, cause there is a really big clue about what the Big Bad really is:

And now everybody's in here... Talking. Everything I did. Everyone I ____. And Him. And It. The other. The thing... beneath. Beneath You. It's here too. Everybody. They all just tell me to Go. Go. To Hell.

It's obvious to me that Spike is referring to God when he says "Him", and that he is referring to God's opposite when he says "It".

Back to the beginning, As the master said, "Right back to the beginning. Not the Bang, not the word. The true beginning. ...You still don't get it. It's not about Right. Not about Wrong." And Buffy: "It's about Power."

Remember the Slayers Power. Why is Buffy included in the list of baddies? Because the origin of the Slayer's powers is in darkness. The Big Bad is the source of the darkness.

I hope that this is the final season. How can you possibly top this Big Bad?
 
I've heard through the grapevine that big bad is the Watchers Council. They have been powerless since 2 seasons ago, and with Buffy's and Spike's talk about power, it kind of makes sense. And going back to the beginning, it starts with the council training slayers. Perhaps they conjure up the shapeshifter. Just a theory that I heard - it would make sense with the girls in the beginning of each episode.
