The Scoob You Like the Least

The Cordelia Haters thread gave me an idea.

Maybe you don't actually hate any of the core scoobs, but I think everybody has one they like the least. Here's your chance to vent on why.

For added points...😉 go ahead, add the semi-scoobs like Oz, Cordelia, Angel, Faith, Tara, Spike, Anya, or Dawn to another list if you like.

Now that I think about it, I guess a "Scoob You Like the Best" poll would be even better. 🙂

I voted for Buffy...seriously in most of the episodes i can't stand her! but i love her in "normal again" that's a good episode. I think the reason i don't like her is becuase she's all "I'm the slayer" "i can do it on my own" yack, yack, yack and doesn't get the help she could get from Willow,Xander and Giles to make her life easier. I supposed some people could argue she doesn't want to get them hurt...but i still dislike her for it. And compared to the other scoobies she's not as funny! :tongue:

I think Xander is the least good. I like him, and I think he's an important part of the group, but there's nothing really there to sympathise with. It's like - "Oh, he's so normal. Poor him". Sure, it's supposed to make him relatable, but I find I respond much more to sympathetic characters (like, for example, Willow) than ones I'm supposed to relate to.

Of them all, Xander is my least favourite. I'm not entirely sure why - and I do like the character - but at times he's just so incredibly annoying!

I also have to go with Xander. At times he could be really sweet but not all of the time. He was known for whining about how useless he sometimes felt which was annoying.

By the middle of Season 6, I was becoming somewhat disenchanted with Giles, primarily because of him leaving at the very time when Buffy so obviously needed him the most, and having the gall to even use Angel's lame excuse from back in Season 3: "Buffy, it's for your own good. You'll thank me in the end." From then on, my opinion of him just seemed to sink lower and lower, culminating in his conspiracy with Wood to murder Spike. And why would they conspire to kill the single most powerful fighter in Buffy's army at such a critical time? "Buffy, it's for your own good. You'll thank me in the end." I had little or no use for Rupert Giles from then on.

Then, to make matters worse, he refused to help Angel when there might have been a chance of saving Fred in "Angel Season 5," and more than that, he even refused to inform Willow that Fred was in trouble and would most likely die without Willow's help. (If she had found out about it later, I'm sure that he would have said something like, "Willow, it was for your own good. You'll thank me in the end."

I hate people who manipulate others, who set themselves up as the final authority on the "greater good," regardless of the outcome. Giles and Wood almost killed the single person who was the most responsible for ultimately closing the hellmouth. Giles was responsible for keeping Willow uninformed about situations in LA that ultimately resulted in Fred's death. The Watcher has gone over to the Dark Side. We need someone to do an Obiwan Kinobe on him, and fast, before he does something for Faith's own good.

I agree. I always thought he was great for the comic relief bit, but I never really respected him as much as I could have until he saved the world in 'Grave." Plus, he often says things that make, like, no sense. Sure, he's brave, and his close relationship with Willow and Buffy is cute, but he acts like a real jerk quite a lot of the time.

I too agree with white_Avenger...even though Buffy WAS being more dependent on him than she should have been...the girl just came back from the dead, for christ's sake. Give her a break.

Not to rain the Giles hating parade, but I'm pretty sure it was one of those instances where the actor wanted to leave the show to pursue something else. So, they had to write Giles leaving suddenly...like when Angel left to do his own show.

True...but we can't take that into consideration within the confines of the storytelling itself...I know he left because of Anthony Stewart Head...but the blame still rests on the character within the show. 😀

Xander was my least favourite. He had his really, really annoying moments, and grrr. Yeah. Plus, I haven't forgiven him for blatantly lying to Buffy in Becoming II. Also, he ditched Anya. 😉 I think he was the flattest character in a way, too. The others all had more depth, and weren't characters you were "supposed" to relate to as much as Xander. I don't like following tradition in that way, I guess. 😉

I was having trouble choosing, so I sort of took the pros and cons of each of them.

I could never, ever vote against my favorite wonderful Wiccan Willow, even though the way she acted in a lot of season 6 (mainly when she and Tara were on bad terms) made me want to throw things.

Giles' absentee-ness in seasons 6 and 7 angered me to no end, especially because it was obvious that the gang needed him, but I loved him so much when he was around that it completely made up for it.

Xander's attitude towards the end annoyed me, especially from after he left Anya at the altar to the end of season 6, and I hated how he seemed to overreact to everything, but I love his wise cracks so much and he just brings so much to the show.

Now, Buffy...don't get me wrong, I love her as a character (and love her more every time I rewatch). I love her razor-sharp wit, I love her occasional spurts of complete badassity, and I love her relationships with all of the other characters. But when she's at her worst, I just want to slap her in the face. And, unlike most people, it wasn't her whiny, season 6 persona that put me off, although she was pretty bad then, too (I'm sure by now, you're all wondering why I loved season 6 so much...). It was her horrible superiority complex in season 7 that really drove me away from her character. It COMPLETELY contradicted all of her actions in the earlier seasons. Plus, even though she's known as the biggest hero in the 'verse, she can be so damn selfish sometimes, but that's another long rant that I might make a thread for later.

So, yeah, obviously, my vote went to Buffy. Still, I doubt I'd love the show as much as I do without the entire gang.

Buffy wasn´t always my favourite but it´s not like she´s a contender for this in my eyes. Willow? Eh, no chance I´ll choose her. You all know that. So that leaves Giles and Xander. Both have a lot of good sides and some a bit worse. But since I´m sure I´d handle Giles missing (as we experienced for a while) better than Xander missing it has to be Giles.

I´m feeling most people (if they just answered this) would answer Dawn but I´ll defend my Dawnie even though I don´t see her as much of a Scoob as the others. No my choice is between Angel and Faith. Not that I dislike any of them but I don´t see them as Scoobies. I know I know the same goes for Dawn but since many likely will pick her I want to be on her side protecting her. One can arguee her case with age. The others are keeping her away from everything. But my choice is Faith. I do really like her. Just not as a Scoobie. She belongs in LA with A.I.



And the answer to my reasoning (which really isn´t what the question is about) is because I can´t make a choice of which one I like the least.

I did NOT pick Xander. I figure out of everyone he had the hardest time. No spell powers, no super powers, no vast general knowledge of demons...his job (especially in the later seasons) was basically to not get killed so he could fix the stuff that was broken.
Willow and Giles had their flakey moments.

But, I think Buffy had the most. What stands out the most was the brooding about Angel and Parker...and the heaven thing.
Granted, Parker was the stupidest....but once you realize you're boyfriend has tried to kill you and your friends I would think that the Angel thing would have turned quickly. And the heaven thing was just weird. I get that heaven would be swell and all, but still....to be back with the people you love, on earth, not dead yet, the opprotunity for an almost "normal" life....there should be SOME happiness about that. Certainly coming home to see the Trio was the biggest threat at the moment had to be a little depressing, but still.

She had such a habit of being over dramatic about things. Even worse than Angel's brooding about everything. There were so many times I feel like she should have been on top of the WORLD about something and instead seemed to be complaining. I'll give her S1, but after that, seems like she should have gotten more comfortable with her lot in life!

Goddamnit 😀! NOT Xander... He's like the number one in that list, second would be Giles or Willow and third would than be Giles or Willow and fourth Buffy, but not Xander! So yeah, Buffy is my least favorite, I don't know why. It's just a fact 🙂.
