If there had been a Buffy Season 8 on tv, would you have kept Anya, Spike and/or Faith on the show or somehow write them out (I know Spike and Anya were written out anyhow, but I'm asking if you think the same thing would've happened if the show wasn't ending)

Emma Caulfield wasn't coming back irregardless of there being a Season 8, or not. She refused to sign another contract before the cancellation news. At least that's the way I remember it.

Would they have killed off Spike? I don't see why not. They could always bring him back. We know this, because they did.

Would TV Season 8 have been a Slayer Army story like the comic? They're always saying how the comic story is different, because there are no budgetary concerns, but really how much is in the comic they couldn't do on TV? The monsters would be a little less impressive. Effects like Willow's flying witch battle, or her trip to the other dimension might have to cut back. They've done the crawling beetles on the face thing before with Spike. Giant Dawn could be done cheap I think. Skinless Warren too. The Scottish castle thing might have to be rethunk with more interior shots. Maybe they could film them somewhere like the Hearst Castle. But yeah, so far, I think it could be done.

The Scottish castle wouldn't be any more of a problem than Serenity was in Firefly. Just a little model and some sound stages for interior shots, along with some stock footage of the Scottish highlands, with maybe a few outdoor shots done within a few hundred miles of LA (mountains ans grass fields look pretty much the same, whether in Scotland or northern California. The Slayer "army" could've been kept down to a more workable number (Slayer "platoon" maybe?). I know that I keep saying it, but special effects would not be the least of the worries a tv Season 8 would have. Eliza had "Tru Calling" starting up, so Faith wouldn't have been back, but some of the new Slayers could be worked into the show. The biggest problem that I could see would be how to use all of the possible new regulars along with what was left of the original group.

I would've kept all three of the characters on the show. 🙂 Well actually, maybe narrow it down to Anya and Faith... Spike was really cool on Angel.

I thought Emma wanted out...but I want to keep Anya because I am fine with Spike being on Angel and as much as I love Faith, I want Anya more. I mean, not want, but like on the show. She cracks me up. But I could get over it and have Faith, so tie.

Anya was going anyway. Spike was becoming a bit of an annoyance IMHO, and worked far better in Angel 5 than he did in Buffy 7. Forget Faith, she was okay recurring but not a regular. I would have wanted them to simply have the core cast be:

Buffy
Xander
Willow
Giles
Dawn

Maybe Andrew, simply because he was so much fun in 7...

Well since everyone seems to say Emma was leaving anyway, then I can rule her out - though I wouldn't want to, because Anya is my favourite character, so that would be sad. Well anyway, back to the others, I think Spike going to L.A was the best thing, if he'd stayed in Buffy, it would be hard to calculate how it would turn out with the Spuffy relationship, thus, if they broke up, Buffy might stake him, ending up with no Spike at all.

So, all in all, I'd probably only bring Faith back of the three.
