the sets

Yes it's a nice looking house, both outside and inside, kind of cozy. I liked a lot of the standing sets actually, the library, the Bronze, Giles apartment, Xander's place, the Magic Box. A lot of attention to detail.

If you've listened to the DVD commentaries, apparently at least two of the producers found the Summers house sets so cozy they slept there sometimes.

It might sound weird but part of what endeared me to the show is how cozy Buffy's house and the bedrooms always looked. Something intimate and soothing and inviting about it all. I would have lived in that house in a heartbeat! Anyone else enjoy the look of her home?

In terms of sets I always thought the best were the college sets they looked great.
I also liked Angel's hotel which was pretty good

My favourite sets where the library and the Magic Box, the latter had so much time spent adding small details to it. For the homes, Anya's place was more to my taste, even though I think we only saw it twice and briefly. My runner up would be Tara's college room.

Tara had an enormous room. I remember singles in college which were much smaller. The library was quite amazing for a high school. The Magic Box was very cool, I esp liked the Halloween episodes when customers came to buy stuff. The scene with the stereotypical witch and Willow always cracked me up.

Someone stated that the reason TV rooms are so unrealistically large is because they need to film in them. Which means what is definitely at least a double - and Willow and Buffy's double was enormous! - becomes a single.

The thing I didn't like about the Summers' house was how it became the main set in S7. It was great as a family home, but not as the main set when compared to earlier ones. Also, a single family bathroom with a couple of dozen mostly teenage girls sharing it isn't cosy; it's a reason for homicide. 😀 Superstar would in reality have ended with Andrew being beaten to death for hogging the bathroom by a bunch of very angry teenage girls.

I think you mean The Storyteller, not Superstar which is the Jonathan episode in Season 4. I was never entirely clear if there was one bathroom or two actually, it seemed at times Joyce/Willow/Tara's room had an en-suite.

You're right, I do! I got the episodes confused for some reason. Because they were both about a member of the Trio and began with an "S"?

An en suite is certainly possible, but really, that is still well below the number of bathrooms I would want to share with that many girls! 😀

I wasn't clear on that either with the bathrooms. I loved the scenes at night, they made the house look somehow mysterious yet cozy at the same time.

While I do think it's a cozy house, it's not really my taste. Im much more into Modern, Mid-century Modern, Art Deco, Southwestern and Brutalist interiors. I would say Giles place, Cordy's apartment, the interior of the hyperion hotel (also the courtyard and wrought iron gates outside are simply to die for, although not sets) and Angel's apartments in both AtS season 1&5 are much more my taste.

Truly the stuff nightmares are made of!

Yes. My wife and two daughters and two sons and I had to share three bathrooms. Not nearly enough!

If three bathrooms is not enough for six people, one, maybe one and an en-suite, will be horrifically inadequate to deal with a household crammed to the gills with teenage girls!
