"The Shape Of Water" Plagiarism?

That seems pretty much like inspiration
Inspiration yes, interpretation, no.

Shape of Water is Del Toro's interpretation of Let Me Hear You Whisper, but I still can't see how it can be claimed that Avatar is Cameron's interpretation of A Princess of Mars. If so.. I'd call it a radical interpretation of the text. Again, hence my post.

Again, hence my post.

My original comment to your post ("I don't get it") was because all that I saw was "[PIC]" or something like that. My laptop didn't show the picture until the second time that I read it. Still. to someone who has read all of the works of Burroughs, the similarities between his creations and "Avatar," along with Cameron's own statements on the subject, leave no doubt in my, or a whole lot of other minds, as to the parallels between Burroughs' Barsoom, Vepaga, and Pelucidar to the world, people, and beasts of "Avatar."

Call it interpretation, inspiration, or homage to a recognized master of the genre, who Blish, Moorcock, and others have called one of the most influential writers of the 20th Century, it doesn't matter to me.
