I have had washing machines on the mind cos I knew this day will come 🙁 Time to get a new washer. Mine tripped the safety switch and took out the power.
I take it that where you are Fisher-Paykell and Bosch are fairly popular there? FP's are pretty good in comparison to others on the market. Just make sure you get one with a full size agitator and NOT one with just the plate in the bottom as it was a constant complaint that that style does not get the clothes clean. Nowadays any front loading washer will do a way better job of cleaning than any top load style. What is your normal AC outlet voltage there 120 or 240?
AC is 240. But budget will decide what I get. Im looking at camping stores cos thats about my price range. Im absolutely not getting a front loader again, I hate it so much. I hurt myself every time I do a load of washing. Might be different if it was up high but there is no way to do it here. I'm getting a top loader or one of those bench top bucket type until I can save up more. There are no laundromats or anything here so I just have to get what I can as soon as I can.

Camping Stores? Okay, I'm lost! What kind of washer do they have? You mean one that they use in campers and motorhomes?
I want a dimmable floor lamp with remote control for the living room. I have one in my bedroom of horror but we don't like big lights so might get another dimmable one!

Watch it, you're vampire traits are showing in saying you don't like big lights! 🧛‍♀️ It's one of the those "sun" lights I take it?

Yep, I got one designed for an RV. It fit in my hatchback, so I didnt have to pay for delivery either 😀 Its a bit more than I wanted to pay, but a lot less than the cheapest top loader I could have got otherwise (and those would need $100 on top for delivery).

I love it! Its the perfect size, and the spin cycle is a billion times better than my front loader was. But it goes hard for a little machine and Im not sure how long the motor will last. If I get 4 years from it, I will be happy, if I get less, I will have to go for a proper house machine next time. Maybe by then I will have moved to a place with more options! Or won lotto 😀

I've ordered some new clothes. Well a t shirt, jumper and a hoody.

I realised my new hoody is now nearly 10 years old. So it's time to replace the old hoody, but only the ones that are really old and damaged.

Enjoy the new items!

How do you find online shopping for clothing? Any issues with sizing? I feel like sizing can be so off nowadays. For the most part, I seem to get it right, and then there's a number of times I've been wildly off base.

I read the size guide and took off my current top and got out the tape measure! However normally I'd just read the guide and guess, but this was more than I'd usually spend and I happened to have a tape measure nearby.

Good way to double-check!

I get a range of sizes and send back those that don't fit. Worst were my new boots; I normally vary a bit in shoe sizes, but my normal sizes were all too big.

A lot of companies are stopping that now, charging a returns fee.

I've noticed an increase in this too.

Annoying of them! Mine that I got in different sizes were from Next and Amazon; Next is collect and return in store anyway (unless you want to pay more), and Amazon are, in most cases, pretty good at taking stuff back. They are often less great at sending the right things out.

Well that's a bit annoying!

My general 'rule' - I need to try on shoes in store - and jackets. Unless it's a specific brand of shoe and I know my size (like a Converse sneaker, as an example) then that's the exception.

I recently purchased a pair of boots. Tried on four pairs, only one was the right fit. Years (and years) ago, it felt like you could get it right on the first go.

Trainers are the ones I have the most problem with as a rule, because they usually have the most arch support, so I try those on in store. I struggled to find the boots I wanted easily offline though.

I ordered my two normal sizes; both were too big. Then a size below, which was also too big. Then the size below that. I guess these had very generous fittings!

Yes, you definitely want to try trainers on in person and make sure you've got the perfect fit.

I imagine being in Themyscira that that would be difficult. 😉

Yikes! Have you measured your foot at home and compared it to their size chart to see?

They were a bit more specialist too, so your standard shop wouldn't have them!

No, I'd never had that problem before, being consistently in one of two sizes - my feet are a bit inbetween them, so it generally depends how generous their sizes are - so that much of a difference was a first. And did make me wonder if my feet were shrinking... 😀

Half sizes in shoes seem to also be disappearing - and often that's the solution to finding a decent fit!

Yes, a half size would work better for me!

Yeah, I can go down a size and half if it's a wide fitting shoe. Usually just go down a size but finding wide fitting shoes is a struggle these days.
