The Simpsons Get New Title Sequence

i saw the new one when it aired but i figured it was a oneoff
 
Wow, I can't believe it changed! I've been so attatched to the old one for so long! But I think I like it too. There's still a lot of the old theme which is great to see, and it's neat how they changed Maggie's "price" (inflation-- nobody's safe! 😀)

The couch running away is a nice touch, too 😉
 
I liked it too 😀

They kept the basic structure of it but made it different in a good way...i think my favourite part had to be the random bird at the start :lol2:
 
I think I'm okay with it too. It has a few new gags, but remains pretty faithful to the classic Simpson's opening. If only the new episodes were as good as the new opening....
 
Hmmm.

I think it's too busy. Too many little references. I think it's going to just get annoying. I did like the widescreen TV though, that was nice. And the LotR reference in the Sofa didn't hurt either. But I don't know about the actual body of it. I don't think it was a good idea to highlight just how ridiculously bloated the show has gotten.
 
it was broadcast in 1080 HD too... might make me start watching a bit more

I don't think I like it because I'm old and set in my ways. It takes me a while to get used to anything new; theme tunes, new characters (Skins anyone? Except Pandora, obviously!) and changes in general. Probably explains why I've had the same board skin for over seven years. What can I say, I'm a fossil! 😛

Well I have been around since the Pliocene period.

Pandorra completely steals the show everytime in skins, but edinburgh boy is right. It's utter crap.
I do like what they've done...but I agree it is too long. They're trying to cover too much, whereas at least the original kept its focus on the core family.

I think the couch running away and them chasing it would have been like a good optional scene...like all the different ones they have when they reach the living room, even if all the other stuff stuck to the original.
 
Yeah, instead of spending time creating new title sequences (that run for nearly 2 WHOLE minutes!), what they should do is END THE FREAKING SHOW.

The only joke left with the Simpsons IS the Simpsons.

Its gone from being one of the greatest shows on TV to a cruel, poor quality immitation of itself.
I read in a magazine an episode synop the other day.
'Grandpa Simpson becomes a Matador'

Its like they don't even try anymore. I don't hear anyone raving about this show. When I am discussing it with friends, detailing good episodes you reference mostly episodes from seasons 2 - 9.
It used to be in a seasons worth of episodes, you'd get the occasional poor one, now it is the other way around.

Its lost its edge.

It needs to stand aside and let shows like Family Guy, South Park, American Dad and Futurama continue in this format.

Much as I hate to say it, EB is (shudder!) right.
seen it, loved it and was like ABOUT FRAKING TIME... i just love all the refrences to things that have happened in the show... and didnt it look so clean and glitzy. Is it going to be like this forever now though... that i dont like... really? really? DONT SAY ITS FOREVER (i know you already did but im prepared to ignore it)
 
I don't like it, to busy and whats the thing with the sofa?
I can't see why they would need to changed it. It worked fine and was recognizable.
 
Will the sofa chasing thing be there permanent or was it just the couch-gag for this episode? Because if this will be on every episode it's way too long.

I used to like the Simpsons and I still watch the old episodes, but the new ones are just so bleh. They really ran out of ideas.
 
Just for the record, the couch thing at the end IS just like it used to be. It'll be different each week. The opening won't always be quite that long. They usually run longer couch gags when their episodes run short.
