The Sims 3.

My girlfriend Katie is in love with the sims.

According to her sims 3 is better than 2 but it takes a while to adjust.

I've never played it myself but i'm tempted, I work at a game store and there has been so much buzz about it that surely it's worth a punt.

I've played the Sims2 I have season and pets expansion pack but I find I alwasy get really bored after creating the people and making the house.
I usually fast-forward time.
So I'm wondering if there's any point getting Sims 3 if I'm gonna get bored of it in a couple of hours.
 
i LOVE the sims. it's one of my obsessions and the only computer game i play. i had the sims one and i'm really into the sims two right now so i think i'll wait awhile before buying the sims 3. i don't have room on my computer for both sims 2 and 3 and i'm not done with 2 yet. i plan on getting it maybe next summer when some of the glitches have been worked out--but i'm really excited about it. i've heard/seen that the customization for the sims themselves is really incredible.
 
I *acquired* a copy yesterday, and so far haven't really been able to play it a lot and/or for a long time. But, I like what I see. If you have a very fast computer and a very decent graphics card, it must be amazingly pretty. Unfortunately, I have neither, and my Sims move like they're made out of wood. Still, I like it. The new wishes-thing takes some time getting used to, but it's cool. And I love the create a style function, and that you can pick the shoes for your Sim. It always annoyed me that the shoes in the old Sims came with the outfit, because they were always ugly. But now I got a whole range of shoes to choose from! 😀
 
I have only ever played sims on PS2 or DS. Whats its like on the PC, also what sort of PC requeirements do you need to play it. I have a laptop.

Do I just buy the game and load it onto my PC?

Haha oh my god. I remember the original sims. I had like all of the expansion packs for it. party, pets, hollywood, vaction, EVERYTHING, even that magic one which was FUN. Then I got sims 2 and played it for a while,and I lost it, but now this thread is making me want sims 3. I'll have to "find" a copy aswell. (sw)

Makin' Magic was AWESOME. I loved all the little surprises they put in that game.
Oh man, I want this game so badly! Unfortunately, my computer needs another gig of RAM to run it, and, since that's too expensive for me, I can't 🙁.

Maybe I'll get it once I make a few bucks, since I'd like to have some extra RAM regardless of whether I get TS3 or not.

My gf needs another gig of RAM for it too, but it still works on her computer, just slowly. It might be worth trying a copy before buying it, it might work.
 
I have been an avid Simmer since day1 and it just keeps getting better. I broke down and bought The Sims 3 yesterday and I am IN LOVE. There is so much more options for customization, and there is a LOT more to do and places to go. 😀 I love the new interactions, too. OMG I'm addicted!

I go on Sim binges where all I want to do is play for days and days haha.
Does sims 3 need a good comp to run on?? I dont know much about pcs and whatever but i think my computer is ok, it ran WoW without much lag. Also how much room do i need on my comp to install it?
 
As I'm playing I'm usually on msn, BB, FB and maybe IRC all at the same time. I get a bit distracted and don't pay enough attention to the game, haha. But when I'm properly playing it I notice I get really addicted, and I get very OCD about things. Like my Sims are always clean freaks, tidying up after themselves, and for anyone who knows me knows that's totally not me. 😛

I used to play the Sims 2 but got really bored of it, then switched to the The Sims 3. The tests I did claimed it would not run on my laptop but I thought I would chance it and it runs like a dream, no crashes or anything.

I like how they have put in different elements of the EPs and the fact you can create your own patterns and colours. I'm a stickler for getting things to match.

The one thing that annoys me is even when they are starving they will make food and then put it down or put it away....eat it!
