The Sims 3.

I've been playing it a bit now, and I must say, <3 I just made me and Spike, as a married couple, and we're so going to be the Evil Overlords of Simtown! (sw)
However, my laptop is a bitch about games. I should be having enough RAM and everything, but it still over heats like a motherbitca and that causes the game to run slowly.. blahblah. But at least, I now have time to think my actions through 😉.
Oh, and apart from the customisation possibilities, I also like that the Sims are more and more getting game-y. You know, tS1 was just playing around with puppets and drowning them in their swimming pools. But increasingly there's more like a game element in it, I feel. With the new wishes system, they're again making a step in the right direction.

my friend got a ghost to have sex with an (alive) person and now she gets sick in the morning :S
interested to what will happen in the next few days (or months for the sims 🙂)

you've got to tell us what happens!

Ooo, ghost babies! That can happen now?!

I'm enjoying Sims 3

Things I like:
That eating and going to the toilet don't take forever anymore
All the extra personality choices
Wide range of gold ambition thingys
That the fridge doesn't runn out of food anymore
Freedom of movement around town
that "motherlode" still works
Everyone ages, even when you're not playing them

Things I don't like:
Sims are ugly, even good looking sims don't look that good
No expansion packs yet -I really loved the college and downtown options
I used to play Sims 2 for ages and lose track of the time, with sims 3 I play for an hour and then i've had enough (but maybe that is a good thing)

How quickly do Sims age when you're not playing them?

lost the interest in sims now have we??? cheeky b*gger;)
I finally got this today 😀 but it keeps randomly closing down when I'm playing it 🙁. Hopefully it'll work better when I install it on my laptop! All I've managed to do so far is create some sims which I really liked doing although I can't wait to for there to be a lot of custom content to download because like a lot of people said, the sims are ugly.

It's okay, but I'd rather go off and buy world of warcraft. I think I'd enjoy it more if my cus tom music would work

You probably haven't got enough RAM

Admittedly, playing The Sims 3 on my computer does do something wonky but I'm not sure what. For some reason, if I've been playing Sims on any given day, I can't get into Blogger.com (yes, I blog. Go mock and laugh and stuff), but if I haven't, I can get in fine. It's only Blogger that I have issues with. Go figure.

Does sims 3 need a good comp to run on?? I dont know much about pcs and whatever but i think my computer is ok, it ran WoW without much lag. Also how much room do i need on my comp to install it?
The gaming magazine of my trust says the following:

Install size: 5.5 GB HDD

Minimum requirements:
Pentium 4 2.0 GHz / Athlon XP 2200+
1 GB RAM (XP) / 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
Geforce 5700 / Radeon 9600 Pro (with at least 128 MB RAM)

Recommended for best graphics:
Pentium 4 3.8 GHz / Athlon 64 3500+ / Athlon 64X2 4400+ / any Core 2 or Phenom
2.5 GB RAM
Geforce 8800 GT / Radeon HD 3870

As modern games go, those specs seem quite civil in their hardware hunger. 🙂

BUMP.

I just received this game as a gift a few days ago. Question: The husband character in my game cheated on his wife while she was across town. In the old games, a character could cheat and the other would be none-the-wiser as long as their spouse wasn't in the same house. How did she find out? Does gossip spread across town in this one? I want to be able to get away with my mischief! Half the fun of the game is doing terrible things you wouldn't do in your real life!

I had a little bit of the opposite problem with the wife in my family. She went off and had an affair and got pregnant, the husband seemed unhappy with her, but didn't know the baby wasn't his, but he didn't achieve his wish of having a baby once it was born. Also the whol town seemed to know through gossip that the other guy was having a kid, but he didn't know he had knocked her up!

They seem to have done a really good job in upgrading social interactions from before, but there are still some kinks in there that wouldn't ever make sense in the real world.
😀

It didn't take much effort to get back in her good graces. A couple compliments and a kiss later, she seems to be liking him again, though not as much as before.

Question to those of you who are already playing the game:

I've heard someone say on another board (on which I don't post anymore) that you can only make one custom family per neighborhood (every newly created family automatically starts a new town). This seems hardly believable to me!? It would be a major putdown (as I've always been the from-the-ground-up custom NH guy with my Sims) and would definitely reinforce my decision to keep playing TS2 for quite a while. Anyone got hands-on info on that?

You can make more than one custom family. It just takes a little more figuring out how to do it. Switching between them is more confusing than before, and your other family will continue to grow older while you play around with your other custom families. The whole world ages together in this one, but yeah, you can definitely create more than one household.

does everyone age at the same rate as the family you're playing? i don't like that!
i've never played the sims but since everyone raving on about it, i guess i'll give it a shot

hazzard agrees: does everyone age at the same rate as the family you're playing? i don't like that!

Yeah, unless you turn aging off, everyone is going to age regardless of whether you are playing with them or not. And it has it's pros and cons. It was kind of silly in the old one to have somebody living a block down from you live through 8 generations of your household. In this one, other families have kids and get jobs all while yours is going on. Plus you can have a kid with someone in a different house than you, you don't have to raise them but they will age along with your familiy so the familial connections go on and on, which is kind of cool.

The only thing I dont like is that they get old. I dont like playing as old people haha. When my character becomes a senior I pretty much dont want to play them anymore, and all my hard work goes down the drain.
