I apologize for the downtime earlier - our host felt we were using too many resources because of the unusual number of guests on the boards and suspended our account.

They have agreed to let us reopen the board to see if preventing guests from viewing the boards makes a difference. I am going to be watching it but should the same thing happen again it is very possible that the site could be taken offline again by the host.

I am searching for a new host as well as backup.

Also, I would like to request that AOL users please use Internet Explorer, Netscape or similar instead of the AOL browser when viewing the boards. It is possible that this causes the high number of 'guests' showing up on the boards.

If anyone registered because they couldn't view the content on the boards as a guest (which I don't like to do - sorry) and you do not wish to have an account here after seeing the board, please pm me or another admin and we will delete your account.

Again, I apologize for any problems 🙂

yeah....its weird cause sometimes there's like 50 guests and like 5 users....

aww, i hope the site dosent go down 🙁 its the one of few things left thats keeping buffy alive.

We are not closing the site, as Buffy said if this happens again the host will take us offline. New hosts will be looked at if need be.

Got a message back from our host that they now believe it was the search engines causing the problem, so all should be well now (I hope).

Reopening the boards to guests 😉

i hate that...it kinda annoys me actually...

Some just have a look around, and don't register, which can cause problems. Anyway, glad it was sorted 🙂 As long as it stays open, then all is well 😀

realy? i always see a guest as a potential member.

THe problem is that it's not actual people, but search engines scanning the site for content. They're not real guests. 🙂

No they're not, and so if your host were doing things really well, the search engines shouldn't show up as guests anyway. Oh well, these things happen. If I were you, I'd definitely be looking at some backups; especially after the recent hacking. (What I'm saying is, I'm not sure if this host is 100% reliable.)

I always see a guest as a person that's not logged in. 🙂 But I guess I'm just really literal about this stuff.

Um I have a question....arn't you guys worried about bandwidth at all? If there is another forum/thread with the answers please tell me.

I watched 'www.ResidentEvilFan.com' go down with bandwidth problems. It was terrible they struggled for 3 days before they couldn't keep the site up anymore and are now looking for ppl to help them set up again.

I really don't want this site to go down with it either. If one of you could explain to me exactly what the 'Bandwidth' is and how it effects sites it would be much appreciated.
