Here's the thing:
People that have read my questions know that I am a bit of a skeptic with regards to the series (since I am not as into it as others are). However, this question has stumped me since I thought of it last night.

Kendra does not know Buffy is a slayer and Buffy does not know Kendra is a slayer. Yet Faith seems to know about Buffy even though Buffy does not "sense" Faith's status...why is this?

Also with all these senses slayers have, don't they have a sense to pick out "potential" slayers in a crowd (since in reality, there should be only one).

well, Giles obviously didn't inform the Council about Buffy's lack of staying dead, so, when Kendra was Called, they just assumed she was the Chosen ONE. Kendra's Watcher sent her to Sunnydale to deal with the big evil brewing there, she ran into Buffy, reported to her Watcher. the Watcher told the Council 'Hey, Buffy's not dead after all. she came back to life' so the Council informed the rest of the Watcher's that it wasn't Chosen One any more, rather Chosen TWO, and they told the Potential's they were training. so, Faith knew from her Watcher that there were currently two Slayers, so when she was Called, she went to find the only other person in the world who was going through the same thing that she was.

Faith was told about Buffy; there was no "sensing" involved. Kendra was told only that the previous slayer had died, resulting in her being Called. She wasn't told that Buffy was "only gone for a minute."

No. Potential Slayers were hunted down by the Watchers' Council, using mystics and seers. And even then, they sometimes missed one (Buffy being an example of one who was Called before the Watchers found her.)

And why would there necessarily be only one potential? If that was the case, then 1) that would mean the power was passed to one specific person before she was Called as the Slayer, kinda making less of a big deal of being the actual Chosen One, and 2) this is a fictional universe, where all the rules are determined by its creator; I don't know of any Slayers in the Real World. Saying that Potentials violates the rules of reality for Slayers strikes me kinda like arguing that "Buffyverse vampires aren't like real vampires" - until someone actually puts a real vampire on scientific display, it's meaningless.
