The Snow in Amends

Can anyone tell me what was the deal of the snow falling at the end of Amends, I never really got what that was supposed to mean.
 
i dont think it ment anything except to block out the sun, they could have done rain but thats all wet when snow is pretty.... so i dont think it meant anything.....
 
To me that's one of the most powerful and possibly one of the most important scenes in the Buffy Series.

It allows you to ask questions like if there's a First Evil, is there also a First Good.

In BTVS you rarely see any indication of any support for Buffy from any force opposing evil. You wouldn't be wrong to wonder why Buffy even Bothers. If there is no Good, why fight for it?

With that one scene Buffy instantly has motivation to continue the fight.

Also the scene ties in with the whole Christmas theme of the episode.
 
Christmas thing....i disagree with the first evil/first good idea, because i simply don't see the first evil as EVIL, for all the "it's all about power" thing
 
I don't necessarily disagree with you, because I don't know where the writers are going with that power thing, but I do know they aren't necessarrily saying "Power" is the way to go. So far they've only said "It's about power". They haven't said what's about power.

No matter what they say though, I don't see how it negates the "snow scene" as a model for Good and Evil in the Buffyverse.

It seems to be making a clear statement. That statement appears to be a force of Good exists in the Buffyverse.
 
Oh I love that scene sooo much *sniff* the snow is defintely there for the 'over all' emotion I think! Beautiful
 
The snow is def a sign from the powers that be. Because Angel (In Angel the series) is always being quoted as being a major player in the Apocolypse (Being good or bad we don't know yet) and so the snow was to block out the sun so that he didn't die before he played his role in the world's destiny. I don't think that other than it being dramatic and to block out the sun it symbolised anything else.
 
What BuffyBotxoxo said is probably true, becuase in Amends, when he runs out to kill himself, Jenny/The First says that this isnt they way it was supposed to happen and stuff like that
 
the snow is deffinitely a sign of the powers that be - the weather in sunnydale was boiling hot in that ep before the snow fell. Angel was determined to kill himself and Buffy says something like :"if i can't stop you, what will?" The snow blocks out the sun showing Angel that it is not his time to die, it is pivotol to the ep, plus being pretty 🙂
 
right try this ,,, ,angel was in doubt of himself ,, that he could change what has been for so long ,, ,well it never snows on xmas in sunnydale but just because it never has doesnt mean it cant . so yes i think it is a message from the powers that be ,, to tell angel he can change there is a light !
 
i agree in some of it..i do think that the snow represent "hope"...when you go back to the scene it was angel and buffy arguing about not giving up...i agrree about the evil exist and so is the good....
what i'm trying to say is angel was loosing his fate and hope for his future to kill himself when the comes out and then comes buffy convincing him that there's more to life than to just give up..do you guys get what i'm trying to say
 
The PTB didn't want Angel to die, so they made it snow. Angel thought the world wanted him gone, but the PTB showed him otherwise.
 
I'm not sure the Powers that be apply to Buffy. They seem to be of questionable morality.

BTVS seems to have a more conventional, black and white model of good and evil.

Often Buffy's motivational call is "Because it's wrong". This implies something is right.

I'm thinking whatever made it snow is something different that TPB. It's something that represents the force of good.
 
I think I read somewhere that it was the PTB that made Buffy go to Sunnydale.
 
I thought it was just fate that Buffy ended up moving to Sunnydale, coicidently just before The Master tried to rise. Like Giles said to Buffy, "There's a reason you are here, and there's it's now" about The Master.
 
PTB, fate, it's all the same thing. You can never really tell if anyone makes their own decisions or the PTB intervenes.
 
On Angel that seems to be the case, but show me where the Powers That Be are ever mentioned on Buffy.

The PTB are an Angelcentric group. The restrictions of their power are never fully explained. The only thing we know, based on what we've seen is, they get involved with Angel. If they care one way, or the other about Buffy, we've never seen it.
