OK, imagine that the Comics never happened.

Isn't it great?

That has NOTHING to do with the topic, I just think its a nice thought to imagine the comics didn't exist.

ANYWAY, back on topic (surely thats a record to go off topic in the opening post), imagine the comics didn't happen and the verse 'ended' with the last episode of Angel.
Joss comes up to YOU and asks you to pick 5 Whedonverse characters to be in a spin-off.

So, which characters would you pick, who would be the lead character and what would be the theme of the show?

disregarding your post.

How do you go off-topic before even reaching a topic. Truly inspirational.

I'd have to say a Spike spinoff, and it would start before/at the same time as Angel season 5 started. Now, I, too, thought that it was a poor decision to bring Spike back (and that's saying a lot because I absolutely adored Spike in Angel season 5), but, since they would have brought him back anyway, I think that, if he had been brought back for his own spinoff, it would have allowed us to explore the ramifications of his death and given his return some sort of purpose other than an excuse to write more witty banter for the Angel crew. Plus, I think that James would have been better at carrying a show than Sarah and David.

Now, for the secondary characters...
- Faith. I loved the little interaction that she and Spike had, and maybe they could have even started some sort of romance (or at least had some really hot sex scenes.)
- Willow. Yes, I admit that I have complete "favorite character" bias towards her, but I really think that they had a lot more stories of hers to tell, especially because she got about 5 minutes of screen time in season 5. Plus, everyone knows her magic is the best plot device in the whole Buffyverse!
- Andrew. His huge crush on Spike would be enough reason for him to follow him around and wind up on his spinoff. Plus, the show needs some sort of comic relief.
- Giles. They need a research guy and his scenes with Spike are the best.

My cast list would be Faith, Kate, Oz, Skip and Jo. (who?).

In Angel season 2 episode " Judgement", Angel fought for the life of Jo and her unborn child, who were then both put under the protection of the tribunal.
Spin - off. The Tribunal are dead, slaughtered. And now every big bad there is, is out to kill Jo's daughter, because she will play a pivotal role in "The Final Battle", which you know is bad, because it's in Bold. On the streets Of La, Jo is killed and as her daughter is about to be murdered by a nasty bunch of something or others, Skip arrives and saves her. He has been sent by "The Powers That Be". Again with the bold. But check this out, this is nice " That Vision Thing ", " Birthday " Skip, not that nasty Cordy tricking Doppleganger, working for Jasmine. See what i did there, anything to undo the mess that is " Inside Out ". His mission is to aid the girls new protector, Faith. Who he breaks out of prison. She went back you see, Faith's a good girl. Along the way they meet up with Kate, uh, cos she's cool, and has a gun, and Oz, because, he's Oz. And young nameless girl, who's like 13 or something, takes on her mother's name. And they fight big nasties, and unspeakable ugly things. And stuff. Damn i should write fan fiction. Or not. 🙂

Lead characters would be Wesley and Cordelia. As much as I am biased towards Anya...it would be far more realistic to have Cordelia as lead than her (especially as someone in heaven side should be in lead too).

Tara, Anya, Cordelia, Wesley and Gunn. Maybe Fred instead of Gunn, depends. Lindsey, Lilah and Gunn/Fred would be reoccuring quest stars. Only difference being Fred would be in heaven instead of hell, apparently the type of death she had went beyond W&H contract (no Old one clause). Maybe once or twice also Joyce and Darla.

Those five learned that death is just a beginning. Tara and Cordelia are in heaven. Tara part of witch corps and Cordelia as higher power is given lead of many units including Tara's.

Anya, Gunn and Wesley are in hell. Wesley and Gunn are at start under services of Wolfram and Hart, apparently takes more than betrayal to get out of it. Gunn is part of elite troops while Wesley is tactical advisor.

For her services as vengeance demon Anyanka is given lead of small special ops squad to weaken Heaven forces from within their borders.

While Tara and Cordelia had choice, noone asked the ones in hell do they want...just made clear that refusal is reeeaaalllyyy bad for them. First season maybe groups tighten as Tara and Cordelia become close friends. In hell duo (Wes and Gun) and Anya become Trio. While most events take place in hell and heaven (as well as dimensions they fight each other), some also take place on Earth. Also Wes and Cordelia make contact and she recruits them to help fight hell within hell.

Interesting! If they're in hell does that make them evil? Or is a bit more shades of grey?

Wow this sounds awesome! I would totally watch that or read it...Ahem you should totally right a fan fic!
Can I pretend the comics do exist?

The Ripper and Faith. I think that could really really work on tv. Actually even pretend the comics do not exist, they're both characters who could just be doing other shady/yet for the greater good things. Be a bit more underground, maybe be assassins of some sort.

Supporting cast... hmmm, that is more of a tough one because it would be an on the run show with different locations all the time, but I suppose Robyn (as much as I dislike him) is a sensical recurring guest, Spike could maybe eventually join the team (if the network said the ratings needed a boost 😛) and in an ideal world where tv was like comics and you could just get other Buffyverse characters to guest whenever it was needed would be nice.

"definition of insane agrees: Are you saying that Willy would run Demon Cheers? 😉"

Well Willy would run the bar, Lorne would be in charge of entertainment

I would create a show were you combine the two shows buffy and angel together but this would last only for one season. What would happen is all major threats from previous seasons of buffy and angel come pack and refourm the black thorne circle whom would then create one ultimate apocolapse but by reserecting all the baddies all the good guys would also be reserected so it would be a one season thing but would still be pretty cool because you could see everyone fighting side by side in the final battle. I have realised this does not compleatly keep with the rules as this brings way more than just five people into the mix but the five major character would be angel, buffy, spike, willow/tara (they count a couple) and wesley/illyria(fred) (they also count as a couple. kinda)

I would make a Faith spin-off, obviously

So there would be Faith and Drusilla would be the bad guy. I think it's to bad that she never got a more important role on Buffy or Angel

I'd also keep Giles because he rocks and he could be Faith's watcher. I would bring back Jenny as a sort of 'higher being' that they can communicated with. (no resurection)

Finally, I would have Buffy, not as a main character but as a secondary recuring character

I know what you're thinking ;)
I'm at work, so I'll quickly do the two on the top of my head and follow up later 🙂

Anya: Sitcom

Stumbles into an acting gig and spirals into sitcom success (a la Cordelia in Birthday). Her no-nonsense demeanor and passion for money make her a natural in the Hollywood circuit. Her first true love has left her with quite a lot of baggage, leading her to date many men, but always finding something wrong. Slowly all of her friends begin to wed, leaving her odd ex-demon out. Now, with all the money and success she could ever hope for, she still feels empty. Will she remain single forever?

Cordy: Drama

Cordelia may have left the Angel gang for good, but her spirit continues to shine. After doing so much good in the world, the powers that be gave her a sort of... "angel" gig. Each episode she intervenes in the life of someone in trouble, and helps them see the light. But as she continues on her mission to help the helpless, she can't help but notice a bigger picture forming... are all these lives she's saving somehow connected?

I love the Cordy idea! I was reading this and I'm all like... "oh this person is creative" and then I saw the banner and realized it was you... so that makes it even better!
Willow
Illyria
Buffy
Spike
and Faith

Basically the main threat would be Illyria and a huge Magicks fight would occur between Willow and Illyria. Willow would win of course (no my decision is not biased regardless of the fact i think Willow's the most awesome character on the show 😀 )

- Willow. Yes, I admit that I have complete "favorite character" bias towards her, but I really think that they had a lot more stories of hers to tell, especially because she got about 5 minutes of screen time in season 5. Plus, everyone knows her magic is the best plot device in the whole Buffyverse!

How did I not notice this weeks ago?! I meant season 7! My mistake.

it seems no one else did, either XD
FtVS

becuz it really almost happen. I would like to see she kicks demon ass in her own rocks way.

the rest is
Fred/Illyria
Spike
Willow
Giles

Faith spin-off cause she's awesome and has so many places she could go

with Spike (if there were a romance with Spike and Faith I would axe the show immediately)
Xander (great Character, funny with Spike)
Andrew (Same as Xander)
Dawn (this is iffy because I want Spuffy and Dawn without Buffy is weird, but I like the brother/sister thing with Dawn and Spike and maybe she could help keep it alive with news on Buffy and stuff)
