Has anyone been watching this? Great show so far, with flawed characters, a good plot, interesting backstory, and no shyness to kill off characters in gruesome fashion.

Interesting show, and it's about vampires too. This may be the first show to make vampires respectable again since Buffy.

I'm definitely interested. Seems like lots of people were freaked out by the bill-boards with the eye, but I think it looks awesome!
A friend of mine reads the comics and loves them. Finally another show with badass vampires.

Tried to watch the first episode but I wasn't paying attention cuz I was busy doing something else. But I didn't know that it was about vampire, I thought it was a disease outbreak. Now that I know it's about vampires I'm interested again. I agree it nice to see vampires that aren't romanticized and are portrayed as monsters.

I agree, the bill-boards were awesome. This show isn't afraid to be gory, that's for sure. And I like it. These writers have balls. Haha.

You should re-watch the first episode, it lays a lot of groundwork. It's a bit different from your typical vampires, but it advertises as vamps nonetheless. I think the term was "ancient strain." It'll likely all be explained, but I'm loving the twist on vampires. I feel Buffy made vampires epic and then Twilight just tore a lot of that down.

I like the unglamorous view on vampires in this show.
They are ugly and very nasty. No sexual undertones when being bitten here. 🙂

So far the story seems okay too.
Some stupid people that you wonder what the heck they were thinking. But besides that I really like it.

Haha yes, "bitten" 😉

But I agree, love the different portrayal of vampires. I think "refreshing" is a good word.

Also, man is this show good. The story keeps getting better. Love the backstory of Eichorst and Setrakian.

So, just to bump this, obviously, it's getting near the end of the season.

Has anyone else stuck with the show?

I personally feel it's gotten very good. The acting is decent, the characters are good, and they throw at least one plot twist or unexpected death at you per episode. The cliff-hanger in the latest episode....damn that's gonna get VERY interesting.

I watch it, but I'm still far from impressed. I got to say I'm a little tired of the bloodsucking villains, and the storyline has yet to be exciting. However, I do like the characters of Abraham and the one I call ''Ratboy''. 😛

Haha Abraham and Fet are awesome. I also really like Eichorst as a villain, and think Richard Sammel does a super job portraying him. He reminds me of the Mayor in the sense that he's capable of more than he looks to be.

I like the plot because of the whole survival thing going on. I'm kind of a sucker for those survivor horrors and things like that.

I've been watching The Strain, have really enjoyed it. It's quite disgusting, the thought of throwing up something like that...bleugh! I like the characters, the pest- control chap especially 🙂 I do really like survival/ contagious/end of the world stuff.

I'm watching it and it's fun, but almost everyone is so damn unlikable. The characters really annoy me 😡
I do like the gore and the fact that the vampires don't sparkle in the sun 😛
I hope they give us more flashbacks soon!

The flashbacks are great. I think the characters are great just because you can either love them or hate them. They all act different because of the stress they're dealing with, and we're seeing how they act in these circumstances.

They all have their personality strengths and weaknesses, especially Eph. Loving father, but can start unnecessary conflict with his own team.

I believe that's what GDT was going for though- characters that you'd like or hate depending on the person. They're all human, faults and all, which is nice.

Can't wait for tonight's episode though!!
