Can you think of those "Little things" that caught your eye in Buffy and Angel? Like Oz's ever changing hair color and Halfrek's (the vengeance Demon, Anya's friend) relationship to Spike as in a past episode, she was a Victorian lady who said Spike was "Beneath her".. What other little subtleties or even hidden meanings/inside jokes can you think of?? Oh and I'm sure this is common knowledge but I myself just found out that Kendra was cast as Cordelia initially but turned it down... I never knew that! Can you imagine her at Angel Investigations???
 
The thing about Cecily and Halfrek is a weird one. I mean it's not outright stated that they're the same person. Only that (a) Halfrek knew Spike back when he was William, (b) Cecily and Halfrek are played by the same actress. If she is the same, she's a lot younger than Anya, and interesting they were so tight in the Russian Revolution when Anya was ancient and Halfrek a mere neophyte.

Anya is so driven by revenge against her husband that she turns him into a troll. This act impresses D'Hoffryn enough to offer to make her a demon. Willow's spell-gone-wrong unintentionally causes enough havoc that D'Hoffryn assumes she has a vengeful spirit too. One would wonder what Cecily had done, then. Nice to think she was attempting revenge on William for embarrassing her, but doubtful, since he's off to get sired anyway within about 15 minutes of their last meeting.
 
Thank you!! So many views, I'm so glad someone posted lol. I was always wondering about those two. At one point (not sure which episode), they did meet up in the present time, acknowledged each other, and that was it. I was wondering just how old she was..
 
It's Entropy, I think. Or wait, is it the one with Dawn trapped in the house? They should have seen each other both times but they only acknowledge each other the once.

If it is Entropy one wonders how suddenly being confronted with the one 'true love' he had as a human (the one whose rejection led him to being sired) would contribute to (a) his bitterness at being rejected by Buffy, his latest true love and (b) the fact that he's about to get drunk with and have sex with Anya.

There's also the theory that Halfrek's Cecily persona was just one of her jobs, so she didn't have to be a newbie ...
 
In the season 6 episode "Older and Far Away", Halfrek recognizes Spike and calls him by his human name, William. Spike also recognizes Halfrek, but when asked to explain this they both sheepishly deny being acquainted. This implies that Halfrek had previously been Cecily. However, Halfrek once told Anya that she witnessed the Crimean War (circa 1853). The timing of this event would indicate that Halfrek existed as a demon at least three decades prior to the adoption of youthful human form in Cecily. Joss Whedon and Kali Rocha have both made statements that Halfrek and Cecily were indeed the same entity.[citation needed]

Halfrek later appeared in the comic Spike: Old Times, which established that she was 'on a job' at the time that William fell for Cecily. The night William became a vampire, she caused the deaths of the rude party-goers who had laughed at William's poetry.

I always love subtle things as well... Like how in one of the episodes, Oz picks up a cheerleading trophy and mentions that the eyes move. This was Amy's mom from The Witch. And I read somewhere that in the episode Restless, during Xander's dream, Anya was originally supposed to speak Spanish but Nicholas Brendan remembered from an earlier episode that they actually took French.

I love the detail the writers put into everything. The show always had very good continuity.🙂

Ah cool. I like the idea that Cecily is Halfrek on the job, except that I don't get the idea that William's infatuation is new. She seems well-entrenched in the community; Spike's mother knows of her, for example. So it's a pretty long-term thing, presumably.

And if she killed the people who made fun of William... then on whose behalf did she? William's? That seems like a major detail not to include. And what would the point be of breaking his heart if she was there to avenge him after all?
 
In Restless, there is something I always considered as a subtility, but I'm not sure it is exact.

When Buffy is in a bedroom with Tara, Tara says "Get back before dawn" (or was it "Get ready for dawn?)or something like that.
I always wondered if it was a reference to Dawn's soon appearance in Buffy's life! And in no place like home, Buffy sees Dawn's room, and the room that was there before, so it really seems to me that there was a reason why she dreamt of that bedroom with Tara saying that!

Yes, that's a reference to Dawn coming. There's also a bit in "Graduation Day", when Buffy and Faith share the dream, where Faith says, "Little Miss Muffet, counting down from 730." That also refers to Dawn (who was called "curds and whey" by a mind-sucked man in "Real Me"), as well as to the amount of days Buffy has left to live as it equals exactly to the amount of days in two years. You notice that in the same scene in "Restless", her clock is also set to 7:30, which Tara then notes is wrong. As in, a year has passed, it's not 730 days anymore. I think that scene was originally meant for Faith, too.

I love those dreams...
I was watching "Something Blue" the other day, which starts off with a silly joke between Buffy and Riley about 'Lesbian Alliance', some student group who are hanging a banner in Riley's dorm, it's a silly joke, but it's a Willow episode, and Tara arrives in the very next episode. That can't be unintentional, right?

My English teacher informed me that Lilah means "dark force" and I looked it up and so does Lindsey. That couldn't have been an accident.
 
When Clem is "house sitting" in Spike's Crypt. He's watching tv. Do Crypts have electricity?

Also, Dark Willow's "pi" oh her forehead.. Does anyone else think it looks like they drew "pi" on her head or is it just me? lol
 
In "Restless", in Xander's dream, Buffy says something about a shark with feet that walks on land. Then we see in "Tabula Rasa" an actual shark demon with feet that walks on land.
