The sudden Tara/Buffy interaction

Did anybody else notice the sudden Buffy/Tara interaction in half of season 6? I mean Tara's been on the show since season 4 and now all of sudden they start to have talks with each other?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. I just find it weird how Joss and Co. suddenly added an interaction friendship between the two.

I think it was wonderfully put and it finally added some sense to Tara...she wasn't just Willow's girl, she was their friend, they cared for her and Buffy trusted her.

I think it made sense. I assume you mean when Buffy talks to Tara about her being brought back wrong, which lead to their interaction in the birthday-episode.

Buffy needed to talk to a witch, and picked the one she wasn't too close to. Sometimes you can't tell everything to the people you're closest too, because it will hurt you too much, and them. And Willow already had huge problems (that effected Tara of course).

So it makes sense she choose Tara. I could also imagine that like in The Body, she sometimes talks to Tara, without the others. That on occasion, off screen, Tara's there, and she needs or wants to talk. Tara's so understanding, and since they aren't very close friends, that pressure is gone.

In season 6, Tara and Buffy also gets closer after Buffy cries in Tara's lap. Tara knows Buffy's dark secret without judging, and that is probably very comforting for Buffy.

Yes I agree with [MENTION=8557]Skytteflickan88[/MENTION]. There are things which you could never open to your best friends. Sometimes you need a person who has more distance to your problems. Tara had. I think it was a sort of self-protection of Buffy. She knew that she would break if she wouldn't open her feelings to someone. Tara was close enough to find solance but too far away to feel (too much) ashame. And Tara did so much for Dawn, she nearly stayed mad because of her. I think Buffy never forget her that! She knew that her secret was secret with her, Tara would never talk to anyone.

I understand what you mean, but I think Buffy needed to connect with someone she wasn't as close to at this point. She was miserable about being back and she felt guilty about that. She was sleeping with Spike and was ashamed of her feelings; she didn't want anyone else to know, but eventually she couldn't keep it to herself any longer. Tara was the perfect person to confide in as they know each other and have a bond, but Tara wasn't too close to Buffy and wouldn't judge her.

Buffy thought she would get definitive answers, that she might be broken and fixable. Then she finds out her sleeping with Spike might have nothing to do with her coming back from the dead. So she breaks down. And Tara happened to be there.

Ever had or saw a mental breakdown? People often start crying and then they can't stop talking. They talk about their problems and talk and talk... till there is nothing left to talk about. They speak everything from their soul then. I guess the Tara/Buffy thing was exactly such a mental breakdown. Just as you alleady mentioned. 😀

She was also consoling Buffy after Joyce died. She told her about her mom. I think that's when Buffy started to see her as more than just Willow's girlfriend. Plus, she was helping to raise Dawn. I think Buffy had a lot more trust for her in s6 than she did before.

They were bonding over their shared concern for Willow. They were also living in the same house. Makes sense they would get closer.

Buffy and Tara's bonding was perhaps one of my favorite parts of the entire series. It's extremely rare that you find someone who you can confide in, with no strings attached, no judgement, and no BS. Hence why they grew so close. You hold on to people like that, because they're one in a million.

What, Tara cannot talk with Buffy or anyone else. Sure that Willow would allow her to be friends with her own friends. Think it made the relationship stronger for Tara and Willow. If you have to hide your girlfriend from Buffy: that would place Willow more into a box. Willow was open about her feeling with Tara. So, what is the problem with Tara and Buffy in a nice girl chat?

I didn't think it seemed out of place, as others have said they shared a concern for Willows well-being and also Buffy had questions which needed her expertise. I enjoyed this relationship.

For whatever reason it happened I'm glad it did. Tara had almost no personality until she started fighting with Willow. Breaking up with Willow and offering support to Buffy gave Tara a chance to be strong, have an opinion, and be useful! I'm sad she exited the show when she'd finally become someone other than Willows timid girlfriend.

They did the same thing with Oz and Buffy. They never talked or shared any major scenes before season 4, and right before he leaves they started interacting

I thought Buffy and Tara's interactions felt forced, as a way to make Tara look like she fit in with the group better. To be honest, Tara never felt like a Scooby to me. She always just felt like Willow's girlfriend, so when they started making her be "close" with Buffy, it just felt weird. The moment they shared in "The Body" was really beautiful, but everything else was just kinda weird to me.

Yeah talking and building a relationship with Buffy randomly when you never really had one before is kind of an indicator that your time on the show is coming to a wrap.
