The Top 8 Best Female Joss Whedon Characters.

So I found this.
Any character you would take off this list? Anyone you'd put on that isn't already on?

Personally I'd throw Anya off into the void- I have no idea why anybody would call her 'awesome'.

I'd also stick Faith, Anara and Echo in the list somewhere- and therefore make it a proper Top 10 list. (who does a Top 8 anyway? It goes top five then top ten, then top twenty, etc)

 

[Ethan Reigns]

No mention of Fred/Illyria? Blasphemy! Certainly deserves a higher ranking than Anya.
Lilah is another good one to watch. She makes her choices with no regrets and seems to be the only adult female in the 'verse.
Jenny wasn't there long but she did make an impression.

 

[Skanky Vamp]

Annalee Call should have been on that list before a few people. It was a good character, or could have been.

 

[Blaze]

I don't watch Firefly, so I have no idea about those characters but:

Adele-Agreed, that woman is badass
Anya-She shouldn't be on this list
Cordelia-I like her, but I also wouldn't put her on this list, if only because Joss butchered her character right at the end, Joss obviously threw the ball with this one, so I don't think she should be in a list about Joss' best characters. She certainly could have been though, if only...
Willow-Yes!
Buffy-this one is easy, of course she should be here!

So I would replace Anya and Cordelia with Faith and Fred/Illyria. I think those characters are more worthy of the title.
I would also certainly put Echo in the list (note: not Caroline, but Echo). And probably a few other Dollhouse characters.

Hmm not a bad list. Anya wouldn't make the cut for me either. I'm not convinced Illyria counts as female, so it would be just Fred if you wanted her in the list. I personally wouldn't add Echo either as she's to jumbled as a character. I think the Dollhouse story is stronger than the characters.

So I would probably switch Anya out for Faith at the moment. I have all sorts of problems with her but she's always interesting and grabs your attention when she's on screen.

I do like the list but like many others I too would vote Anya off the island. I just don't see how she was a good character really, she was like Cordelia2 with a shady past and she was very two-dimensional character until the last episodes of season 7.

I would maybe put Inara in her place, or maybe Fred, or actually I think I would put Lilah on there.

Well, I'm mostly glad that Kaylee made the list.
She can often be overlooked. I would even want to see her higher up. I love her.

Also don't mind seeing Anya there.
I mostly agree what the list say about her and I think humour is an important part of a good character and Anya has plenty off that.

But I would want to see some other names there. Faith in particularly.
Not sure how the keep it down to 8 though... 🙂

I liked Inara. I thought her character and the concept of her profession and its status were very interesting. I also found her strong, complex and capable. What's not to like?

In what version? Movie or the series? I haven't seen either for a long time. I just thought she was a one-dimensional character and there never seemed to be much to her. But honestly I don't remember much other than her being in danger and needed to be rescued.

I often saw Inara portrayed as Mal's equal a lot of the time. (Plus she rescued him at least once, he was all naked at the time. 😉) She was certainly more capable than a lot of women on the list and she was more complicated than either Zoe or Kaylee.
I mean I love Zoe, she was really kickass and such, but not complicated exactly.

Think its a pretty poor list. I am only half way through Firefly so maybe not the best to comment on those characters. I would have had Tara in the top five at least. She brings so much to the Willow character and is just a well rounded character, with old fashioned charm, wit, but also strength when need be. The top three was about right.
