If there is already a thread about this, my apologies. I searched but could not find one. Not a specific one anyway.
People seem to really dislike The Trio and I was wondering why. I mean, as villains they are pretty pathetic. All they do is come up with ever inventive, but ultimately unavailing, ways to annoy Buffy with high tech gadgets. The most pathetic thing of all is when Warren resorts to using a gun on Buffy. That doesn't make you a villain, it just makes you a homicidal loser. Although futile, at least the other attempts at killing her were creative. And the other two didn't do much except argue about Star Wars while desperately seeking Warren's approval and acceptance. I think I may have answered my own question....
Although, as individuals they might be more interesting. Andrew was just adorable, especially in "Storyteller". Something about him just makes me wanna pinch his cheeks and give him a rattle and tuck him into bed like a little baby. It would be interesting to find out what happened in Warren's life to make him such a deranged sociopath. He's clearly very intelligent, but all kinds of crazy and you never really find out why. I'm not interested in Jonathan cause he was just an insecure follower. After his failed attempted suicide and failed spell over the whole town to make everyone think he's cool, he just clung to the first crowd that would accept him, even though their agenda was against his morals. I never liked him up until right before he died.
I actually hadn't given it much thought other than "nerds are cool" and I think I've had an epiphany while writing this and now understand why people don't like them, but I'm still curious what others think. If you don't like them, is it cause they're crappy villains or crappy people? And if you do like them, why?
