OK first off....NO Arguing please!!

I watched the first movie and hated it. But as so many of my mates like it I thought I'd give the other movies in the saga a go. Starting with New Moon tonight.

What mind set should I have before watching it? Did you like the movies? If so, which movie was your favourite and why?

I didnt like them. Only because I found them too focused on the love story and not enough action, but I know thats not what people look for in every movie, so thats just why I didn't like them.

I saw the first one cuz everyone was seeing it, hated it. Then when I saw the adds for the second,it looked okay and I though it might be like Harry Potter and get more grown up as it went on, then saw it and I hated it.

Then I saw the trailer for the third one, and again they had a really good trailer with loads of action and people turning into wolves and I got free tickets to see it, so I saw the third one, and hated it!

So I decided I was giving to to many chances and stopped, I loved the ads but they always seemed to have loads of action in them, and then it turns out thats all the action there would be, the rest of it was crap in my opinion.

I think if your a fan of strong women you'll hate the movie, like the scene where the main girl is in her room roaring crying because her boyfriend wasn't there, was just a horrible thing to see (for society in general, not because of bad acting)

Forget the first one and watch New moon with new eyes. Twilight is like a budget movie compared to the rest. I think you'll enjoy it. Have you read the books?

Give the movies a chance but I would 100% recommend the books. They are much better than the films (as in most cases)

The books are better. There are FAR too many things that have been left out of those movies that appear in the books, there are things in those movies that DON'T happen in the books, and, overall, I just think the characters are better portrayed in the books than they are in the movies - especially Bella and Rosalee.

I've seen the first three movies and found them watchable, but I wasn't all that fond or enthusiastic about them. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I put off seeing the last two movies because I was very nervous about the storyline between Jacob and Renesme at first, and the handling of that. It's a very delicate situation and it could come off really, really back. And then more because I wanted to be able to watch both back to back rather than waiting months in between each one. I don't know, maybe I'll start in on the first one tonight, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

My advice - Don't take it too seriously. It wasn't written with the intentions of being some ground breaking love story or some new supernatural phoneme; it's simply escapist fiction written for teens. The writer isn't writing about a supernatural world we already know about, it's one she imagined up herself so I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about vampires and werewolves mythos being different. Just enjoy it for what it is (fluffy fairy tale) rather than focusing on what it's not.

Well I've just finished watching it. Was better than I was expecting but then I was not expecting a lot. SO that's good. I saw the werewolf thing coming but still enjoyed that. Still not sold on sparkling vampires etc but will watch the next film soon. I think I enjoyed it more as I've not expected much seen as I hated the first movie. This one, New Moon, seemed to have more substance to it and more emotion to it. I really felt for Jacob.

I'm not a Twihard, but I do enjoy the series. I own all the movies on DVD. I read the first 3 books but then stopped for some reason. I always prefer movies because I like the visual experience (even if they do leave things out). I think the whole take on vampires was a bit ridiculous (like how they glitter in the sunlight), but I still find them interesting.

Twilight is actually my favorite movie of the series. Probably because it sets everything up, but I also thought the cinematography was great. I loved the blue hues that were used. The rest of the movies appear more brighter. My second favorite would be Breaking Dawn Part 2. I thought it was the most entertaining and the battle scene was beautifully done. It's my favorite scene out of all the movies.

Without spoiling anything, I will say that the first three movies center around the villain Victoria. The Breaking Dawn movies go in a different direction, but I think they are better than New Moon or Eclipse.

I enjoy the movies for what they are. They are entertainment. Breaking Dawn part @ brough ton the LOL's. haha I agree with those who have said that the books are better as well. As for the series book and movies Eclipse is my favorite. It has action, heart break, and a bit of humor.

I think the first movie and New Moon are the best. After that I think it's too much 'polish' on them so to speak. The script and stories suffer partly for the sake of the visuals (which they keep changing, driving me crazy! Vampires are supposed to look the same... the same!)

But I do think there is something to enjoy in all the movies except for the last two so I would recommend giving them a chance. 🙂

And you can't ignore the bad acting. I read the books to see what everyone was going on about. I do wish I could erase them from my memory. I'm not even going to touch on Edward and Bella because i'll be here all day.

What I did like was the other vampires and their stories but I was mostly interested in the wolves. The books were badly written and the leads were badly acted. All in all it was a piece of fluff and i'd rather be reading/watching The Hunger Games.

I was told The Host was better (well it couldn't be worse), so I gave that a go and gave it up as a lost cause. I won't be bothering going to see that either.

Just take the whole thing as a bit of light hearted entertainment. Don't get too caught up in it or you'll enjoy yourself looking for continuity errors, plot errors, bad directing and the bad acting.
Did you know the the last one 'won' several awards for bad acting at the awards ceremony for worst film made?

Do your best to ignore the continuity errors, plot errors, bad directing and the bad acting. Though its hard to ignore the bad acting, the film was given several awards at the ceremony for worst film made, a week or two before the Oscars.

When I read the first 50 pages of Twilight I was completely oblivious to the phenomenon. It was in 2008, I was in America, my roommate was obsessed with it (she hung the movie poster in our living room) and she coaxed me into giving it a go. I did and I hated it. I dropped the book and never had any inclination to try to read it (or its squeals) again.

By the time I came home Twilight was the biggest thing on the planet and the saturation of it in pop culture was suffocating. So, a few years later when my younger sister finally sat me down and made me watch the first two films in an effort to change my mind on it, I just had too much baggage to ever give the series a chance. I didn't enjoy them and my sister stopped trying to make me. I haven't seen the other films and I have no desire to. If I did, I don't think I could enjoy them or appreciate them just for their own sake. Pretty much since I realised that the book wasn't a fit for me, my entire interactions with Twilight have been in a hate!watch fun sort of way.

I hope you can enjoy it though, [MENTION=208]Nix[/MENTION]. Anyone I know who does like it, gets tremendous entertainment from it. 🙂

Eclipse is my favourite book and favourite movie of the series. Im not really a diehard fan or anything but I certainly enjoyed it for what it was, as [MENTION=10582]brinkster130[/MENTION] said - a fluffy fairytail. I've only seen Breaking Dawn Part 2 once but I think that was tons better than the book. It helps that the cast is so pretty (sw)

I'm definitely not nearly as attached to the franchise as I was when I first got into it. I have read the books several times and watched the movies plenty of times, too, and I definitely agree that the books are WAY better than the movies. That being said, the more I read the books and watch the movies, the more I hate Edward and the more I understand the point people have made that Bella is a bad role model for girls. I don't necessarily hate Bella, like some do, but I definitely admit she's way too hung up on having a man. And Edward comes across as a control-freak stalker, who never has any confidence in Bella until she becomes a vampire, which annoys me. Plus, I'm not a fan of Robert Pattinson.

[MENTION=7336]ILLYRIAN[/MENTION] I saw GoF years ago but I honestly can barely remember Pattison in it. However, I did see him in Remember Me with Emile de Ravin and Pierce Brosnan and I really enjoyed that film. I honestly don't have any feelings on the actors involved in Twilight, I just can't relate to the characters or their stories.

I'm the same as HisMrs, I used to be much more into the books than i am now. this was like just about when the second one came out here before the hype. Then the movies and the craziness happened and it put me off the whole thing! I never thought they were brilliant works of literature but I enjoyed them, but then everything went mad and I just kind of got fed up with it. I never liked the films much but they seemed to get a bit better as they went along. Saying that though I gave up after Eclipse so I don't know what the last two are like.
I'm much more interested in the other characters than I am the main lot, and Bella just irritates me these days. But it's weird to think it bugs me now but I used to be sooo into it 😛

I haven't watched the other movies in a while but when I watch the first one now it just makes me laugh!
