I think everyone has those moments in their lives, that are small events, but you feel great for doing but feel a bit silly for telling people about it.

So this is the thread for that, let us know the things in your life that you've done and we'll let you know how awesome you are.

And readers, drop a positive karma comment, or post and let people know what you think of their achievement, a little positive feedback goes along way.

I find allot of the stuff that I do in work goes unappreciated, I've been around longest in my team, but because I'm part time you dont get the recognition someone full time would. Like the last few times we've gotten new people on the team, (they come in batches of like 10/11) I've been the one they go to for questions, and I'm taken off my job to help them, I've stayed late or skipped breaks to help them out, and they always appreciate it, but in general the company never notices.

I have this exact same problem being a fellow part time worker myself. I've been at my place of employment for almost 4 years now. Any time I've asked to take on new or more tasks at work I'm always overlooked via new employees. I've had opportunities and have done my best to excel in them but it's always been taken away from me. I work my butt off in everything else I do but still feel very under appreciated.

It got so bad last year that I was "unfairly dismissed" and had to fight to get my job back. A lot of people at work weren't happy when I did get my job back but I am damn proud that I did. I wouldn't let my employers walk all over me like they attempted to and I can imagine they'll attempt it again but I have rights and I'm not letting them slide. The fight is worth it, especially whilst we're in a recession.

Sounds like you work so hard! Good for you!
A few days ago, I posted on Facebook that I was in desperate need of a nap. My cousin came back with a sarcastic remark about how "it must be nice to be able to take a nap", basically taking a pot shot at the fact that I "don't have a job", as he has said before to my face.
It infuriated me because he really has NO idea what my life has been like since my husband has been gone. I take care of both of our children by myself, as well as our dog. I take care of ALL my household work, such as laundry, cleaning, any things like taking the trash out and fixing things when they get broken. All that alone is a tough job, but then I also manage to run both my websites, fill graphics orders when I get them, and mod here on BB. Not to mention that the last few weeks have been filled with me doing holiday stuff here at my house, and then my youngest daughter's birthday party... And now I'm having to run errands here and there to prepare for my husband to come home soon.
He may not think I have a job, but I definitely, definitely stay busy. Remarks like his piss me off so much... I wish he could live my life for just 1 week and see how busy I really am!

Ma'am, I keep telling you to ball up your fist and knock some taste out of people's mouths. NYC style, beeotch-ka! :p:p:p Noooo, but seriously, you are the epitome of "workin mom". Eff the naysayers. OTHER people appreciate ya. :)

I think that your job is one of the hardest on earth. I think you're so brave for facing it every day!
HisMrs my phone is dumb... That was supposed to say "stay at home mommy karma!" You rock and as the wife of a firefighter who is only home alone with my boy and the dog 24/72 hours, I have nothing but epic respect for the mommies that are doing what I do for 24 hours for months at a time while their hubbies are overseas. You ROCK!!

This is a great thread! It's nice to see how everyone is so supportive and encouraging.

I consider myself lucky in many ways when it comes to my marriage, me and my husband share a lot of the housework, which is something that's very important to me. Women in general in sweden do a lot more unpaid housework although both of the partners work just as much, and I think that's wrong, so I'm glad me and my husband has a similar way of viewing this. With that said: there's one thing that I can feel like I don't get appriciated for when it comes to this, and that's the constant cleaning up. You know, the small things, like picking up trash, making sure things are in the right place, cleaning the sink and dusting. I do it all the time and feel it is a important thing when it comes to our home looking good and being cosy and nice. But my husband never says anything about it when I've done it, not even when I tell him. At the most I get a ".....yeah, I guess it looks good". I've kind of accepted that he doesn't priorities this the way I do and I don't mind doing it, but it would be nice to get a "I really appriciate that you keep our apartment clean and looking good, honey" once in a while. :/ And when I write this I realise that I should a) tell him just that and b) I should probably give him more appriciation for the things he does too. Like right now he's doing the laundry while I'm sitting here, mihihihi

Cleaning is a hard, unforgiving job. I think it's great that you do it. I'm sorry you don't get more credit!
I have a ten year old sister who I look after on a regular basis (perhaps twice a week) due to the fact that my Dad left when she was 18 months old. I've done this every week for ten years almost. I don't mind in a way because it's to help my mom but I do mind sometimes when I get moaned at for not doing it. Especially when you work and go to uni and placement on top of everything else, as well as run my mom around because she doesn't drive. I do it though because otherwise my mom wouldn't be able to live her life as much as she does.

That is amazing of you. You do so much! I really admire that.
I do the dishes at my house... that's my job. I voulenteered fr this position. When I first moved back to my mom's house, I decided to do the dishes to be nice when they would come home. Then a few weeks later, they said at dinner "we need to come up with an official rule about who does the dishes" and I said "Well, I'll do it...." And they said "OK!" Well at first, it was great... but my mother's husband is so disrespectful when it comes to stuff like this and it's actually an area of much friction around the house. See, some people (my mother's husband) think "sink" is a synonym for "trash can" or "recycling bin." And he's obsessed with having the dishes done every day. I don't mind if the dishes are there until there's enough for a full load or until I run out of something I need. But he does. So anyway, I do the dishes every single day. And I will fish dirty napkins out of there, bottles of beer, peanut butter, salsa, and other stuff, and not to mention all of the plates with large chunks of uneaten food. It is impossible for him to scrape his plate off in the trash before he puts it in the sink... and then he always turns the water on to "rinse" it. All it does is make the food chunks slimy and get on everything and it makes doing the dishes to be a miserable experience. I've come to both my mom and her husband to talk about this so many times... I've even posted a set of reminders above the sink. But nothing works. He'll also constantly complain that I put this dish in a full load instead of that one.. or I didn't do them on time or whatnot. And he's never once said thank you.

When my grandmother died, my mom got really into politics and graassroots political groups. She joined so many of them, we all lost count. At the beginning, it was fine... but then it turned into she wouldn't come home until 11 every day. It went like this: At first she would come home for a second to see us and tell my sister (who's 11 months younger than me) and I about dinner for my other sister (who's three years younger than me, but acts 5 years younger). Then she would call us. And then, eventually, we wouldn't talk to her until she'd get home at 11. We were in charge of feeding my youngest sister, making sure her homework was done, making sure she had a bath, and putting her to bed at a reasonable hour. This was so hard to do because I was only 12-14. Your post reminded me of that.

Zo, you do so much and seem to get so much crap. And yet you're one of th strongest, most amazing people I know. That takes effort. Go you!

What in the world?? What a rudey! My mom stopped working after my youngest sister was born, and she was busier then, than she is now with a job. Your cousin cannot have children. I don't, but I've had to watch my sister for 5 hours max (which is nothing compared to be a full-time mom) and I was worn out. And you have to take care of them on your own. Ugh. This really ticks me off. You are extremely nice. If anyone had said something like to my mom...antique lamps would have been thrown.

Oh and I sometimes feel underappreciated when I sneak my little sister a cookie when we both know she didn't eat her vegetables and she doesn't say thank you😡
