I had totally forgotten about this until Jay Leno mentioned it last night:

http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/maya-world-end.html

If the Mayans were, indeed, right, we've got less than 2 weeks left before the whole shebang goes "blooey."

Anybody want to have a post apocalypse party on the 13th? That's assuming, of course, that we're still around to celebrate.

I've been thinking about designing an Apocalypse Commemorative Paracord Bracelet to mark the occasion. If anyone has any suggestions, you better get 'em in quick, cause time's a'wasteing.

I'm sticking to my theory that the Mayas were all killed by the Spanish before they got to finish their calendar 😛

But I'm always up for a party!

I read somewhere that back in the Mayan days, they never had leap years or something, so in threory, we really should've been dead already lol but I also read that the world might not be ending but we'll be becoming more spiritually enlightened :S I dunno...we'll soon see!!! 😀

yeah i read that online about they didnt even have leap years so it should have ended 14 months ago or something (lets hope its true hehe)
I'm not totally worried it's gonna happen, but the fact that we don't know for sure still makes me a little nervous to be honest... I guess we'll see!

But really, how many "supposed" apocalypses have we survived the past few years? 😛

Who do you think keeps stopping them? 😉

exactly! :)
So how many is it up to, the 5th or 6th end of the world prophecy this year?
Some of them are so funny, one was found using a letter from a certain word on a certain line in some part of the bible.
I guess someone had to much spare time.

How about the guy that was going to do the next two hundred years of the Mayan calendar, but he couldn't do it because his dog buried his findings. Still, that is a better excuse than saying the dog had eaten it.

Yeah the Mayan calendar was made before current calendar was set up, I think the article I read explaining it said that the Mayan calendar ended in March last year.

Also there's no way it's true, everyone knows the apocalypse only happens in the month of May.

I don't really believe it anymore. I do think bad things are going to happen in the future & eventually, whether it's 5 years or 10000 years from now, the world will eventually end as we know it because we can't just continue to destroy it & use its resources forever & not come to a stand still. It's inevitable at some point.

There are alot of conspiracy theories out there & some of them are really suspicious. I can't really ever say if I do or don't believe in what others believe or say but I do think there are things going on that we don't know about & I also know that in this world today, anything is possible.

Look, with all due respect to those who are actually scared about this, this whole doomsday thing is a bunch of crap.

For starters, the ancient Mayans didn't account for leap years, as those hadn't been discovered at the time. So right off the bat, this whole "prophecy" is just a pile of garbage. If it was true, the world would have ended already.

The only good thing about all this nonsense (imo, fair enough if you believe it) is that there are now 'end of the world parties,' which I personally think is a brilliant theme.

I find it amusing that it's been made into such a big deal though.

Yes! Party! I honestly had THE WEIRDEST dream the night/early morning before/of December 1st. I forgot about that apocalypse crap but that dream...oh man. In it I was at my grandparent's house which appeared to be housing refugees or something and we heard this ominous knock on the door and someone mentioned that "it" was coming and I went to the door and there was just this intense feeling that something was going to force it's way in if I didn't lock the damn door so I quickly shut it but it was hard to lock but eventually I did it and...yeah.

So basically, if the world ends, I am a slayer and that was one of my prophetic dreams.

With Buffy and the Winchesters on the job, we should be just fine!

And if we might get crushed by a planet, Superman will be there too 🙂

I must say I don't buy into stuff like this. To me no one can predict the future.

Now I must add to this situation. If what I've heard is write, the Mayans never incorporated a Leap Year day every four years and that this projected 'last day' has already passed a while ago this year. Has anyone else heard this? 😉 I've also heard that they calculated days different. But I must get to my original point that I don't think anyone can predict the future.. and I think someone has mentioned that they were wiped out which is probably true since their cities were abandoned.
