The Up Coming Apocalypse

I must say I don't buy into stuff like this. To me no one can predict the future.

Now I must add to this situation. If what I've heard is write, the Mayans never incorporated a Leap Year day every four years and that this projected 'last day' has already passed a while ago this year. Has anyone else heard this? 😉 I've also heard that they calculated days different. But I must get to my original point that I don't think anyone can predict the future.. and I think someone has mentioned that they were wiped out which is probably true since their cities were abandoned.

The leap year thing got mentioned a few times and to me it seems pretty reasonable. Well, as for 'predicting the future', if a meteor the size of mars were to hit earth some time in the future, scientists could probably figure a certain period of time for when that event would take place. And this event would certainly lead to what we would call an apocalypse.

Anyway, the Mayas didn't have today's possibilities. They could never ever have predicted the end of the world. I don't know what this Maya calendar is about, but it certainly has no effect on earth itself. Future generations will laugh at the people today who believed it to be true. And while they're laughing, they're probably facing an actual apocalypse caused humans.

Look, with all due respect to those who are actually scared about this, this whole doomsday thing is a bunch of crap.

For starters, the ancient Mayans didn't account for leap years, as those hadn't been discovered at the time. So right off the bat, this whole "prophecy" is just a pile of garbage. If it was true, the world would have ended already.

It's not really about being scared, it's about having enough guns, ammunition, and food supplies put back in order for yourself and a select group of friends to survive the upcoming collapse of society. That's not being scared, that's being prepared. You mark my words, when the zombies come crashing through your poorly reenforced barricade and all that you've got to defend yourself and your family with is a dull butter knife, because the government has grabbed all of your guns and left you defenseless, you'll be crying, "WHY didn't I heed White Avenger's warning? Now it's too late, and I'm about to become zombie sushi."

And as for the Mayans not having leap years, they didn't have Daylight Saving Time, either, and one cancels the other out. Unfortunately, the only ones who know this are the gun grabbing politicians and their minions, who are living comfortably in underground bunkers constructed and supplied by the taxpayers' money.

Really, you guys need to start watching "Doomsday Preppers" and "Revolution," and reading "World War Z " before it's too late, cause when the s**T hits the fan, it'll be too late.

Can't wait dude! :D
I've been Reading All About It, this "apocalypse", it is funny how some people believe it, it's actually been in All Of The Papers.

But I'm Not Afraid, it's pretty unlikely to actually happen.

I'm glad to see that you are using your words that could change a nation and not biting your tongue on this. There's no way the world is ending. Come on!?!

This end of world chat started out as a bit of fun for us folk, now all sorts of comments are starting to appear.
If you need to say its a load of crap, why do you need to say it?
But the best biggest dumb comment of the year, 'I don't think anyone can predict the future'
If Faith was to say the board will close on ? ? day at ? ? time for maintainance. That is Faith using her gained knowledge to predict a future happening.
Thinking about it though, if the board closed for maintainance on 21/12/12 it'd beat any April fools prank.
If a scientist states an asteroid will hit the earth at ? ? time, that is the scientist predicting the future. Of course if that asteroid slows down on its approach to earth then its name will change from asteroid to UFO. As long as they don't interrupt the party, who cares.

In all seriousness, I doubt that we're in much danger. Of course, there were passengers on board the "Titanic" who denied the possibility of the ship sinking before the water had risen above knee level. And nobody believed Cassandra about what dragging that great big horse inside Troy's walls was going to cause.

Its all about belief and remit. It is within my remit to say that the boards will close at a certain time and date because I have the knowledge and power to do it, it is something I can control and have done in the past. That is why I have belief in it. I know it exists and it is possible, and before anyone pitches up about belief in God etc and not seeing and believing, I don't believe in God either.

The same with a scientist, is it within their skill set to determine whether or not an asteroid will come into our orbit, well with all their training and technology one would hope so. That said it could still be wrong, look at the weather forecasts, they have mountains of technology and experience and get it wrong all the time.

Is the end of the world possible? Course it is, we kill it every day. Do I believe that these Mayans possessed the knowledge and remit to state this? No.

The nature of discussion boards in general mean that some people will think a subject is a lot of crap, you have to respect that as much as they have to respect your opinion.

I'm awaiting the X-files movie that was supposed to come out this month.

If I'm not mistaken it was really the X-files back in the 90s that popularized this whole Dec 22nd 2012 apocalypse thing.

''According to X-Files mythology, the final stage of said alien invasion is due to start in December 2012. ''

If anyone believe there's an exact date then the world will end keep a close look at Australia. They'll probably be the first ones to go and might give you a bit of time to get things in order before we all die.

Lets play that the mayan calander is accurate on the date. Are we in trouble? No. Since the end of the world doesn't mean "The end of the world". Like the death card in tarot doesn't just mean death, it's the same with the mayan calander. It's more "A new beginning" and in fact the world have already ended a few times.

Unless I was told a lie. That can't be possible right? Who would do that to me. I'm too lazy research myself. I must be right.

Here we already celebrate the 13th so don't take that away from us! Lucia is the stuff. 😀

Lastly, I'm sure we will end the world, or more exactly the earth. Or at least have a new beginning. We're not treating the world very nice. Enough will be enough one day.

Alright, I'm from Australia, if I disappear from the boards without notice, you guys (basing this loosely on the time difference) will have about 17 hours to either stop the apocalypse or get your paperwork in order!😀

I'm assuming we've all learned enough about apocalypses from all our Buffy and Angel watches, I'm sure if we all band together - we'd stop it. No worries.

Is there a kiwi superhero to thank if it doesnt happen? I have never heard of a kiwi superhero.... Maybe the zombie apocalypse starts with the sheep?

Haha it's so weird that tomorrow is supposed to be an apocalypse. It's just ridiculous 😀

Hey, if I make a calendar into stone that ends on a certain day and bury it and people find it a thousand years from now, will they as well think the world ends on that day?
