THE VAMPIRE DEMON, BELAC
EXT. THE STATUE - EVENING
[Before the setting sun. Two tourists are taking photographs
of a statue.]
[Brian reads the guide book.]
BRIAN
There is no mention of this statue in the guide book. It only
says of areas or buildings and this being Hobsnest Island.
JERRY
Why would they not include this. This is a fabulous looking
statue, it is so life like.
[Jerry moves to the side of the statue.]
JERRY
You stay there I am going to get some shots of the profile
BRIAN
I am not to sure but I think we had better hurry, it looks like
there is a storm brewing.
JERRY
Where?.
[Jerry takes another few photographs.]
BRIAN
Above us.
[He has another look at the sky, all he can see is a long
narrow cloud formation.]
JERRY
That is not natural, is it?.
BRIAN
Oh yeah, it is very rare, but is does happen. But we should find
cover, come on let us get in the car.
[They run for cover to escape the sudden heavy rain. Unseen
by them, the statue awakes. Brian and Jerry leave the area.]
BRIAN
What time is the ferry?
JERRY
Another hour and a half.
[They drive to the harbour.]
BRIAN
I hope the ferry is early, come on let me have a look at your
pictures.
[He hands the camera to Brian.]
BRIAN
These look alright, oh the statue in the first seven
photographs you are in the background.
JERRY
Yeah, I remember that.
BRIAN
Then you went and stood at its side to get the profile.
JERRY
So?
BRIAN
That is the problem! look at the photos that damned statue is
still facing you! and look at it, it is ruddy well smiling!
BRIAN
Where are we going to go?
JERRY
I do not care, anywhere that is not here.
[Hearing the statue scream again, they look to the sky. They
see the statue flying towards the mainland.]
INT. IN THE WATCHERS LIBRARY - NIGHT
People sit around the table.
MARY:
How many more times must this vampire be killed.
MYLES:
[thoughtfully]
Dracula, he has been killed too many times.
MARY:
Well, it is said he cannot be killed.
MYLES:
[agrees]
That is what is written.
WILLIAMS:
It may have been written by people like us. But a hundred
years ago did the church dictate what they could write.
MYLES:
What would that mean?
MARY:
She realises what is meant. So, what if he was killed but
another came back and he kept coming back.
WILLIAMS:
Then a hundred years ago it may have been thought he could
not die.
MYLES
Makes sense, how could an undead be dead?
MARY:
Making it appear that the church was no match for the evil?.
MYLES:
So the reports may have been written by the clerics but the
view changed to be acceptable to the church.
MARY
Allowing the evil to continue.
MYLES
So we need to forget these books.
[He picks up the books then puts them on the floor.]
MARY
A simple case of the church defeating the church.
WILLIAMS
I do not think they would like being told that.
MARY
How could it be said differently?.
WILLIAMS
The catholic church has an increase in the amount of
exorcisms being called for.
MARY
[attempted humour]
Quick every-one let us all be catholic.
MYLES
We need to make sure that what we write is what the reader
will see.
WILLIAMS
To guide any that follow, or to find the truth.
MARY
I was nearby as Dracula was fought, I saw what he was.
MYLES
But did he show you what is right, or only what he wanted
you to see?
DAVID
If I was the evil, I would only let people see what I wanted
them to see.
MARY
It showed me he was Judas Iscariot.
WILLIAMS
The reward of silver, and the sight of him on the cross.
MARY
But he was not the first vampire, there is mention of
them before.
MYLES
So that would mean the stories of Dracula are false, or did he
know there is another?.
WILLIAMS
If there is another, and he protects, in theory there could be
lots of Dracula's.
DAVID
Since the tales of this Dracula started how many times has
Dracula been killed?.
MARY
Then if Dracula is a cover, who is the real threat?
MYLES
There is mention in mythology that an Eve was cast out of
the garden of Eden, that she became a demon.
MARY
How would we get vampires from demons?
MYLES
As a pure demon blood, she drank from a human and that
created the first of the vampires as we know of them.
WILLIAMS
There was mention of four others who sought the truth, as
we do. One of them found a passage. It is in one of these
books.
[He searches through the books in front of him.]
WILLIAMS
This is the book, yes, here it is,
BEDEVLACIL: RETURNING AS REPEATED,
RETURNING MADE ANEW.
GILES
Where was it found? what was written before and after that?
WILLIAMS
I will find out for you. It does not say here.
MYLES
The Beast of Evermore Lives, advise caution, and, if you
suffer to meet her; that is her name.
WILLIAMS
The two lines before it and the two lines after it spoke of the
battles in the name.
GILES
The text itself. The number of letters is thirty six. The number
of words is six. Six times six and six.
[He looks at them. They look puzzled.]
GILES
SIX, SIX, SIX. That of the beast.
WILLIAMS
Do you really think one of us might look that way; in that way
lies witchcraft.
MARY
Yet the church does exorcisms.
GILES
But its name, the start of the words, Belac?
MYLES
I am looking, but I cannot see anything else.
WILLIAMS
Of battles in the name.
GILES
There is more, the name of that passage BEDEVLACIL.
If you take the name Belac from it you are only left with devil.
WILLIAMS
If that is the case and those two names are interlaced is this Belac
the devil or are the names together as that is what we think.
MYLES
If that is what we think, could that mean we are wrong?
[ A man walks in to the room.]
WILLIAMS
Excuse me? who are you.
[Giles recognises him. Marinius acknowledges him.]
GILES
I will vouch for him, oh did you bring a grave stone rubbing?.
MARINIUS
It is in your room Giles.
MARY
Where will you put that one Giles?
GILES
With the others he did. Lady and gentlemen, he is Marinius.
MARINIUS
You have asked me here, why?
MYLES
How did we ask you here?
MARINIUS
You said its name, The Beast of Evermore Lives,
advise caution.
MYLES
Who or what is she?
MARINIUS
Not many know of that name. No-one knows what she looks like.
MYLES
Then what is she?
MARINIUS
The Vampire Demon, Belac. The demon Belac that made the
first vampire.
GILES
I thought that the First was the first evil?
MARINIUS
No, the First came from her.
[They look puzzled. Marinius saw their expressions.]
MARINIUS
The demon drank human blood, she became a vampire within
the demon, a second was created that became a vampire.
GILES
So what is she?.
MARINIUS
She is The Vampire Demon, Belac. It has risen. And as Belac
it walks the earth again.
MARY
[fishing to get an answer]
People have tried to stop the vampire Dracula, is that who you
mean? we think there could be more than one of him, he may
protect another, can you tell us who the other is?.
MARINIUS
You are right, there is seven of the Dracula. You had reason to
call us!, we will fight those vampires and tell the one they
protect.
MARY
Is that the devil?.
MARINIUS
That is your name for him, for us it is The Demon within the
vampire demon Belac.
MYLES
These vampires; the Dracula's?, they protect her?
MARINIUS
The Dracula's know who the other is. It could be the first true
vampire, or who created the first
[Then Mary looks to the table.]
MARY
[thoughtfully]
We need to know more.
MARINIUS
We are rising, more maybe needed to stop her.
MYLES
Who is this her? and who is the we?
MARINIUS
Belac, I shall go to meet the others.
GILES
Who are the others? will our other friends return?
MARINIUS
They are with us, I can feel them rising.
WILLIAMS
Who are they?
GILES
Vampires who once sought to harm us, now I trust them
as friends.
MYLES
A vampire a friend?
GILES
And yet you talked with Marinius, mind you he is he has only
lived since ten BC.
MYLES
[to Marinius]
What can we do?
MARINIUS
Pray.
MARY
Pray for what?
MARINIUS
Pray that we win for you.
MYLES:
There are many of us that are willing to fight all that is evil.
GILES
We would like to be of help. When you them please give
them my regards.
MARINIUS
[to Myles]
We are the ones to fight her. We are risen, now I need to go.
WILLIAMS
It is nothing to do with this, but where is hell and how
big is hell.
GILES
No size has been said, why?
WILLIAMS
In this book, it says of a way in to hell through a land of a
thousand pillars, it is just a thought.
WILLIAMS
And a good thought, I have read a reference to the land of
pillars. It is in Western Australia, the Pinnacles National Park.
MYLES
On a magazine cover, it said of the devil reborn, that island is
only a hundred miles south of there.
INT. A CHURCH NIGHT (A very modern design)
[A woman awakes, curiously she looks around.]
BELAC
I have slept longer than I thought I
would.
[She stands and looks about.]
BELAC
Where am I, what is this place?
[Slowly she walks outside, turns to look at the building she
was in.]
BELAC
A church?, they have changed.
[Seeing a brightness in the sky she goes towards it.]
BELAC
Everything is so strange.
[Cars go past her, sounding their horns.]
[Soon, she gets into the town.]
BELAC
Why so many people here? even children playing? and in
the dark?.
[A bit further along the road.]
BELAC
Why are there not any others like me? What have the
Dracula's done?
[Passing a theatre she smiles as she sees a vision from one of
her children.]
BELAC
Good! an all night snack bar.
[Moving further a young man walking the other way,
passes by her. She smiles but he ignores her.]
BELAC
I think I will surprise him.
[Keeping in the darkness she follows him, walks into his house,
seeing his back, she softly growls. He turns to face her.]
XANDER
What! what are you doing in here?
[She flies to him, sinking her teeth into his neck. Waiting to
feel the weight of his body. She sliced the top of her breasts,
lifting his head to them forcing him to drink from her,
feeling him against her she smiles.
BELAC
Who shall I get for his first drink? Somebody who he will
enjoy for his first drink.
[She closes her eyes.]
BELAC
He likes girls that dance?.
[She thought of the last dance that she had been to. She
remembered with fondness having killed every-one there.]
BELAC
I will take him to the theatre.
[Standing at the exit of the theatre she could just hear music.
She walks towards it, then climbed to a skylight to look in.]
BELAC
Dancing has changed a lot.!
[Watching how the other girls get in, she alters her dress.
Then goes to the door.]
BELAC
Those clothes that they wear, they must have been made by a
vampire, so much skin and all those lovely blood veins on show.
[Coyly she looks to the man at the door, he opens the door for
her. Maybe the doorman thought she was happy to see him,
but Belac's thoughts were refuse me if you dare.]
[Inside she hears the music, coloured lights flash but it is
quite dark. Belac dances like the others do until the music stops,
then she looks about.]
BELAC
So much life to choose from.
[A girl walks near to her, Belac smiles at the girl. The girl
leaves. As the music starts she flies to the ceiling, going out
the skylight.]
BELAC
Now for the fun part, the chase.
[Running across the rooftops she watches the girl as she goes
into a library. Belac creeps to the doors she see's the doors can
swing in and out.]
[Belac looks about at the three people in the room and she
smiles at the girl.]
BELAC
You, will be mine.
[Belac became a vampire and growled loudly. The red haired girl
ran at her, Belac waited until she was near then slammed the
door in her face knocking her out.]
[Belac moved a step inside the library she smiles at the panic
she has caused. The man behind the counter pointed a rifle
at her.]
GILES
Get away from here!
[Belac watched as he started to pull the trigger then flew to the
girl thrust her hard against a wall, catching her body as it fell.
Turning she watched the bullets hit the doors.]
Easily lifting the blonde girls body up Belac ran to the doors,
she picked up the other girl. Then ran out into the night.]
BELAC
Where can I put them? The theatre!.
BELAC
It will give me somewhere to stay during the day.
INT. ROOM IN THE THEATRE - EVENING
[The following evening Xander awoke, Belac watched him
pace about the room, when he was ready she stood up and
smiled sweetly to him.]
XANDER
What do I do?.
BELAC
Simple, I put a body near you, like this. And you drink.
[She held the red haired girl from the library to him.]
BELAC
You feed from it, that one is special I will make her like us.
Later we can go and get a few others.
XANDER
Can I make this one like us?
BELAC
If you want to.
Xander drank from the girl then made her drink from him.
BELAC
Who will this girl want? I hope blondes have more fun, I
need a laugh.
[Grinning Xander wiped the blood from his lips.]
XANDER
Follow me. I know where to go.
[He led Belac towards the nightclub, Watching some girls about
to go in.]
XANDER
The one you chose, Buffy she will want one of them.
BELAC
Everything has to be done sneakily, nobody is to see us.
[They watch as the girls go in.]
BELAC
Tomorrow night will be fun for you but for tonight.
XANDER
There is another I always wanted, but she does not like me.
BELAC
[smiling]
Lead the way for she will soon
XANDER
And when they wake, I know who to send them after.
BELAC
Who is that?.
XANDER
In a Magic shop near here, a little blonde girl, I have to get
everything she never wanted.
BELAC
There is a plenty of drinks near here. If you want to turn them
to be like us, you can.
XANDER
As a vampire I could be any-ones friend.
EXT. A RAILWAY BRIDGE - EVENING
[Belac and Buffy stand on a railway bridge, watching as
the trains pass under them.]
BUFFY
I always wanted to go to the city on one of them.
[Belac looks at her, puzzled.]
BELAC
Why?
BUFFY
I wanted to be in a film.
BELAC
There is nothing stopping you now.
BUFFY
What about the others?
BELAC
They are to interested in themselves to think of any-one else.
That is why I like being with you.
BUFFY
Would you come with me? I would not want to be alone
there, and I know you do not want to be alone here.
BELAC
Ok, then both of us can go be in the movies.
BUFFY
Thank you, have you ever been on a train?
BELAC
I have never needed to.
BUFFY
If we are lucky, it could be fun.
[Buffy went and bought the tickets for them.]
INT. ON THE TRAIN - LATE EVENING
[Buffy and Belac sit in the empty carriage.]
BELAC
Why did you buy tickets for us?
BUFFY
I could see no reason to draw attention to us.
BELAC
I am glad you said that, there is something I should tell you,
that we can do.
BUFFY
What is that?.
BELAC
If in doubt, scare them.
BUFFY
What does that mean?
BELAC
Something that remains a secret about old vampires.
BUFFY
I am not old.
BELAC
Nor will you ever be but you are from me and I am old.
BUFFY
Ok, so what is the secret?
BELAC
When we walk into the moonlight we show why we are
known as the un-dead.
BUFFY
That does sound interesting.
BELAC
Then watch this.
[Belac walks into the moonlight and appears as a skeleton.]
BUFFY
That will help. It does nothing for your clothes though.
BELAC
But be careful, the humans do not know of this. When we
drink from them, the greater fear they have the better.
BUFFY
This is beginning to sound good.
BELAC
As you can smell that fear and if no-one else can see you,
walk into the moonlight the fear in them can be a wonderful
smell.
EXT. IN THE CITY - LATE EVENING
[Standing outside the train station in the city, feeling cold.]
BUFFY
One of the problems about going for a trip in a train.
BELAC
What?
BUFFY
I was told it always seems colder when you get off.
BELAC
This trip could have been better planned.
BUFFY
Why? I planned it like this.
BELAC
Look at them shiver! it must be cold here.
BUFFY
And we should behave as they do.
BELAC
Then where will we stay tonight?
BUFFY
You really were asleep for a long time!. We wait for another
train, as people walk past we talk about it being a cold
night, then see if we are invited to some-one's house.
BELAC
Then what?
BUFFY
If it is nearby we hold hands. If we go by car, you pretend
to fall asleep on my shoulder, I will make a few comments
just to keep him or her happy.
BELAC
And once we are in their house?.
BUFFY
Either we kill them or we do not kill them.
BELAC
What if they want some fun?
BUFFY
Then we have some fun.
BELAC
Those humans will only want to have sex with us.
BUFFY
Yes, I know, maybe I should have been a little clearer, the
fun we have, it will be us that will have the fun, our type of fun.
BELAC
But what about the bodies.
BUFFY
Something I have never done, but I always wanted to try.
BELAC
What is it?.
BUFFY
This is something else, friends used to say that they would lie
in the snow, open and close their legs and move their
arms up and down.
BELAC
So?
BUFFY
When they stand up it looks like an angel has been there.
BELAC
And you would really want to do that?.
BUFFY
Yes, on their lawn.
BELAC
We had best get some-one to invite us stay at their house.
BUFFY
I hope they upset us.
BELAC
How will we do it is it going to snow here?
BUFFY
No, but it will look better on the lawn.
BELAC
Tell me how?
BUFFY
We turn them, stake them and their clothes in the correct shape.
BELAC
Oh right, and when the sun is on them they burn, leaving an
area of dead grass.
BUFFY
Shaped like an angel, if they upset us.
BELAC
Do you have a good imagination?
BUFFY
I think so, why?
BELAC
[she smiles]
Imagine that they have been bad.
[Buffy smiles to her.]
INT. IN THE HOUSE - MORNING
[Belac and Buffy wake up in bed, they look at the bodies of
the humans.]
BELAC
Damn humans! why did they think we were here just for their
enjoyment.
[Buffy and Belac smile to each other.]
BUFFY
Oh well, look at the bright side.
BELAC
Another bright side?
BUFFY
Sure, we had a nice drink last night and somewhere nice to
stay now that the sun is out. Plus I can use their phone to find
out if there is any films being made.
BELAC
Never thought of it like that, she might even have some
clean clothes for us.
[Buffy tries on a tight fitting leather outfit. She goes to look at
herself in the mirror.]
BUFFY
Damn! I forgot about that. Oh Belac dear!
[Belac walks into the room.]
BELAC
What is it?
BUFFY
Does this fit me ok?
BELAC
Oh yes! it fits very snugly, I wonder if there is one for me?
[Belac tries on one, Buffy mutters her appreciation.]
[Later that morning Buffy rang a casting Agency.]
BUFFY speaking on phone
Hi, my friend and I want to get into the movies. Are there any
films being made tonight that want any extras.
RECEPTIONIST
Can you get there today?
BUFFY replying to her
Sorry, my friend, she works during the day. We'd like to be
in a horror film and if it helps we wouldn't mind being a bit
er, extravert together.
RECEPTIONIST
I won't lie to you, it won't hinder you. There is a vampire film
in production at one of the film lots in the city, if you can both
be there at just after sun set.
BUFFY replying to her
We will be there.
RECEPTIONIST
I'll let them know you'll be there, what are your names?
BUFFY replying
My name is BUFFY and my girlfriends name is BELAC.
[Buffy replaced the phone, then went to Belac what they were
doing that night.]
BUFFY
There is one thing though.
BELAC
What is it?
BUFFY
You must remember not to eat every-one.
BELAC
Another thing as well.
BUFFY
What?
BELAC
I hope they do not expect you to be subtle.
BUFFY
That is a thought I must remember to leave them on the
lawn for tomorrows patterns.
EXT. FILM PRODUCTION AREA - EVENING
[Smiling at where they were. Then walking forward.]
BUFFY
Belac stop, there is a shadow.
[Belac looks at the evening sky.]
BELAC
It must be a street light, it is too late for the sun.
[A door opens behind them.]
STAGE HAND
Is there any extra's out here?
BELAC
We want to be extra's for a film, we were told to come here
but I think we are lost, what film is this?.
STAGE HAND
The Bridge Of The Damned
BELAC
[she smiles to Buffy]
That is the one.
STAGE HAND
Come on in then girls
INT. THE FILMING AREA - EVENING
The other extra's were sat waiting to be called.
STAGE HAND
Will you wait with the those girl's.
EXTRA #1
I do not think I have seen you here before are you in any of
the scenes.
EXTRA #2
And what are you wearing? that is not what we were told
to wear.
[Belac looks at her, she did not like the girl. She did not like
the feeling she had, this was starting to be boring.]
BELAC
I am getting bored here.
Knowing what might happen next, Buffy smiled.
BUFFY
I think we should sit somewhere else.
[One of the other extra's went into the changing room. Belac
grins to Buffy.]
BELAC
I will be back in a minute.
INT. THE CHANGING ROOM - NIGHT
[The girl looks into the mirror and adjusts her make-up]
EXTRA #1
I was picked for the part of a vampire earlier, I just wish it
did not take so long to put this silly vampire make-up on!
[Belac smiles to her.]
BELAC
I will not have that problem, you see.
[Belac stands right behind the girl]
BELAC
I do not have to pretend that I am a vampire.
[Belac faced the girl as she became a vampire, her eyes
widened as she smelt the fear, Belac tore into the girls neck.]
[Closing the door behind her Belac smiles to Buffy.]
BELAC
I feel so much better now.
[Buffy invited the other girl into the room.]
INT. OUTSIDE THE CHANGING ROOM
A man approached Belac.
THE DIRECTOR
Nice costume, but that is not the one I want.
BELAC
It fit's my character, I like how it feels.
THE DIRECTOR
Look, it is not right....
[Belac interrupts him, she emits a long low growl.]
BELAC
Sorry, I forgot where I was, unless you want me to make that
sound again, mind you it is these clothes that brings that
out in me.]
[The director looks at her shoes, what she was wearing then
at her face, then he noticed Granore wearing the same clothes.]
THE DIRECTOR
You two, dressing like that?, you both make that sound? you
are so much better than what I wanted, great look.
BUFFY
And we are wearing contact lenses they are light sensitive,
when we look into bright lights, spotlights we will appear
as vampires.
THE DIRECTOR
Okay, if you can react like that, you have got it, come with me.
[Leading them to the set. ]
THE PRODUCER
Who are they?
THE DIRECTOR
[to the Producer]
Those girls have that something else. This is Buffy, she will
play Gail and Belac will be Laura. Jeremy will be Matthew
for this bit.
THE DIRECTOR
Listen up people, I am going to try something slightly
different, this is Laura. Matthew! I want you to jump
out at her, you will both battle.
JEREMY
(to Belac)
Have you done any fighting before?
BELAC
No, but I have watched others doing it.
THE DIRECTOR
She will try to take a bite from your neck. Then you escape,
only to be faced with Buffy, sorry, Gail.
CAMERA OPERATOR
If I start filming from behind Gail, then as Laura and
Matthew's fight ends, I will track round to face Gail.
THE DIRECTOR
Ok people!, places please!. Laura, you have just walked to
here, you are going to a fresh grave a bit further on
where you will find a meal, just make the fight scene
seem real.
[He takes her to where he wants her.]
THE DIRECTOR
Oh and please remember to flash those eyes and teeth at the
camera. The way you look is great, where did you get those
contacts from?
BUFFY
We had them specially made.
THE DIRECTOR
Can I get some?.
BUFFY
Yes but at the moment, if we do not say, we will get more
work.
[The director smiles. They went to their positions.]
THE DIRECTOR
And...Action!
[Belac took two paces forward, Jeremy jumped onto a head-
stone then jumped to Belac. Catching him in mid-air she
threw him onto the ground. He stood and as she attacked him,
he made her fall, turning to escape he faced a crouching Gail
she emitted a long growl, flashing her eyes. [for the benefit
of the camera.]
[She twisted him to the side, glaring to a camera. As she was
about to bite she loosened her grip, he pushed away then
plunged a stake into her chest. She looks down to it, allowed
a loud growl then glared into his eyes.]
GAIL
Missed.
[Opening her mouth, [just for the camera,] she pretended to
bite him. ]
THE DIRECTOR
Cut! What's this? ad-libbing?, I do like it though.]
[Two make-up people rushed to her, they put fake blood on
her teeth. Then went back to their positions.]
THE DIRECTOR
Back to your places!, and... Action!
[Buffy dropped him, watching him crawl away, turning to Belac.]
GAIL
[smiling to Laura]
Laura dear, would you like a taste?
[Laura licked Gail's teeth, smiles to the light then walks away.]
THE DIRECTOR
Cut!
[Jeremy goes to the director.]
JEREMY
That was fantastic!, they are good. I am telling you, I felt
scared, keep them in the film, they will make us all
stars. And put us in your next film.]
EXT. OUTSIDE THE FILM SET - early evening
[As Jeremy was driving home they were standing at the gate
of the film lot.]
JEREMY
Where do you two live?
BUFFY
Today was our first day in the city, do you know of any cheap
motels?
JEREMY
There will be no funny business, but I have a second house
where I live. If you want, then stay there and we will work
out a payment thing later?]
BUFFY
That will save us a lot of mucking about, thanks.
JEREMY
Good, get in the car I will take you there now.
BELAC
Is it far to where you live?
JEREMY
It is about an hour's drive, any reason.
BELAC
My skin is allergic to sunlight. I come out in big red blotches.
JEREMY
Ok, I will go straight into the garage, we can get to your new
house safely from there.
SCENE INT. JEREMY'S HOUSE DAY
Sat on the sofa looking out of the window at Belac and Buffy
sitting in the shade . Jeremy answers the phone.
ANGELA BUTTON
Jeremy! hi, this is Angela Button, I am your new
representative at Creative American Actors.
JEREMY
What happened to the last bloke?
ANGELA BUTTON
Promoted, a new film is being planned, about vampires in love,
they would like you and the new girls to play the leads. A
script has been sent for you to read.
JEREMY
Yes the courier just delivered them.
Using the intercom
JEREMY
I have a new script here, if one of you would like to come

SCENE INT. WHERE THE GIRLS LIVED
[In his front room that evening.]
JEREMY
What did you think of the script girls?
BUFFY
Is rubbish to hard a word?
JEREMY
That script? what was wrong with it?.
BELAC
I would not pay to watch it. All it is, is vampires walk into
town, vampires kill people, people kill vampires end of story.
Where is the fun in that.
[Jeremy picked the phone to miss Button.
JEREMY
I was nearly happy enough with it, but the girls weren't, they
didn't like the script as it was boring and they weren't agreeable
to how much they were going to be paid.]
ANGELA BUTTON on the phone
I am sorry about the pay offer, but because it is their first film
the finance people say they won't increase the offer.
JEREMY
In that case they won't do your film and considering the feed
back I am only in the spotlight because of them, so I won't
be in your film.
BUFFY
We are looking at another script, the one that was in our room
Jeremy so if she wants us in that film, a substantial increase
in her offer is needed.
[Angela told Jeremy that she would get back to him.]
[When Angela Button replied.]
ANGELA BUTTON
They've upped the offer to her by fifty thousand dollars, can you
pass that on?
JEREMY
I don't need to, it won't be accepted. If those people want the
girls to be in their film they should have offered a suitable
amount.
EXT. BY SWIMMING POOL - DAY
[Jeremy looks them lazing by the pool.]
BUFFY
Jeremy, that script in the room, it is ok, the action could be
better, the script is a bit easier to remember and the pay
could be ok.
JEREMY
Is this one alright with Belac
BUFFY
Most of the film can be shot in the studios, you know how
much Belac hates travelling, sunlight and all.
JEREMY
Have you accepted it?.
BUFFY
No, the agreement was that we will all appear in films, so that
is what we will keep to.
[Jeremy spent the next day reading the script. He spoke to Buffy
in the evening.]
JEREMY
Buffy? it is Jeremy, I have read the script. It seems ok, so if
you want to phone them. If you're ok with it we can go out for
a meal, to celebrate, at eight tonight?.
[At seven thirty Jeremy got into the car and waited for them.
Buffy opens the car door.]
Buffy
So where are we going?
JEREMY
There's a nice little place I know, I've been there A few times,
but the neighbour-hood isn"˜t exactly welcoming.
BELAC
That's ok.
JEREMY
And about your clothes, don't take this the wrong way, I
mean you both look good in dresses.
[Buffy looks to him, she nearly smiles.]
JEREMY
But if you want to get ahead in this business you need a
gimmick. It might be good if you always wore that
leather and lace outfit.
[Jeremy was right, the neighbour hood was not over flowing
with nice people. Two men had offered to look after their car,
for a price.]
[Walking towards the restaurant they were being followed by
two men, Belac motioned to Buffy that two others were ahead
of them.]
[Stepping in front, a gun each, the other muggers came up
behind them.]
MUGGER #1
Get in the alley.
JEREMY
Best do as they say.
MUGGER #2
(to the girls)
Best do as he says.
[Jeremy had only gone two paces, he turned to kick one of
them but they were ready for the heroics and knocked him out.]
[Belac and Buffy look unimpressed.]
BUFFY
I like him.
BELAC
So do I.
[Then Buffy smiled sweetly.]
BUFFY
But with out him we can play.
[They both look to the muggers.]
BELAC
[she smiles]
Fun time!
MUGGER #1
Just give me all your money, you
bitches!
[A gun is pointed at Buffy.]
BUFFY
No, and I am not going to, so give me the gun.
[He shot her twice in the stomach. She falls to the floor.
Buffy looks to Belac.]
BUFFY
Why am I on my back?
[Silently her body rises to her feet. She is upset. Blood
dribble's from her wounds.]
BUFFY
You have put holes in my dress, that is not very nice of you.
BELAC
So that is what happens when you are shot.
BUFFY
I must admit, I has been a long time since I was shot
MUGGER #3
H, H, How are you standing up?
BELAC
[to the muggers]
That dress is going cost a bit to fix, so who of you is going
to pay for it?
[They shot again at Belac. Seeing the next bullet start to leave
the gun.]
BUFFY
Any last words?
[Buffy darted forward, bit two, then went back just in time to
catch the bullet.]
[Belac moved forward four paces, she bit one of them, long
enough to make him know she is a vampire.]
[Buffy, with one of their guns, held to a muggers side, pulled
the trigger just a bit.]
BUFFY
Empty your wallets boys!
BELAC
Empty your wallets, now!
[Three of them did, Buffy pulled the trigger. The blood flowed
from the wound. They emptied their guns into her.]
BUFFY
I think you should remember, that does not work on us.
[Belac slammed one of them hard against the wall, then drank
the other dry, throwing them both deep into the alley.]
[Jeremy slowly regained consciousness.]
JEREMY
What happened?
BUFFY
One of them shot his friend, I stuck my finger in the hole
where the bullet had gone, but they still left in a hurry.
JEREMY
I did not do much good then.
BELAC
That is because you did tried to do the same sort of fighting
as you would in the studio.
[When news of the attempted mugging appeared in the
newspapers, in the article about them being vampires.]
[It was Buffy who stopped the accusations, she went on a
late night variety show in New York.]
INT. THE INTERVIEW - NIGHT
As Buffy prepared to go on stage.
INTERVIEWER
I know I should not say this but some one will, so here goes.
My guest was called in at the very last minute. There is a lot
of hype about this actress being an actual vampire. So ladies
and gentlemen, I am sorry to say it but, well, this is an actual
interview with a vampire.
[As Buffy walks onto the stage she is applauded. She went to
the seats and sat down.]
INTERVIEWER
I am sorry but I have got to ask this question, but, are you a
vampire?
[Buffy waits.]
BUFFY
You forgot your next line!
INTERVIEWER
I did? what is it?
BUFFY
And if you are, please do not bite me.
[Buffy stared at him.]
INTERVIEWER
[he grins]
Oh yes, but I had to ask because the films you have been in,
you are always a vampire.
BUFFY
What can I say, I am the best at what I do.
INTERVIEWER
Really?, can you show us how good you are?
[Buffy leans forward, she pretends to put contact lenses in.
Starting to look up she begins to growl.]
[The interviewer jumped behind his chair, very quickly.]
INTERVIEWER
God that was good! The takings for your next film just doubled.
[Buffy flashed her yellow eyes at him, growling very loudly
displaying her teeth.]
INTERVIEWER
HOLY CRAP!
[He was standing behind his desk.]
INTERVIEWER
If ever I make a film with vampires, I want you in it. Look at
me, I am shaking!
BELAC
[she smiles]
What can I say, I am good at what I do.
[The interviewer sat down again.]
INTERVIEWER
These accusations? what do you think about them?
BUFFY
The journalist is obviously very thick. His words were not
well thought through, well were they?.
INTERVIEWER
Them's is fighting words. Why do you say that?
BUFFY
If I was really a vampire, and I really thought he was trying
to stop me, how long ago would I have sunk my teeth into
his neck?
[The interviewer nervously laughed with her.]
EXT. LOOKING AT THE CITY
She left the show a bit later, she looked about the city.
BELAC
[to herself]
I think I would like to sleep in my
own bed tonight.
She left New York and just over an hour later she walked
into the room where her coffin was, in Los Angeles.

THE VAMPIRE DEMON, BELAC
EXT. THE STATUE - EVENING
[Before the setting sun. Two tourists are taking photographs
of a statue.]
[Brian reads the guide book.]
BRIAN
There is no mention of this statue in the guide book. It only
says of areas or buildings and this being Hobsnest Island.
JERRY
Why would they not include this. This is a fabulous looking
statue, it is so life like.
[Jerry moves to the side of the statue.]
JERRY
You stay there I am going to get some shots of the profile
BRIAN
I am not to sure but I think we had better hurry, it looks like
there is a storm brewing.
JERRY
Where?.
[Jerry takes another few photographs.]
BRIAN
Above us.
[He has another look at the sky, all he can see is a long
narrow cloud formation.]
JERRY
That is not natural, is it?.
BRIAN
Oh yeah, it is very rare, but is does happen. But we should find
cover, come on let us get in the car.
[They run for cover to escape the sudden heavy rain. Unseen
by them, the statue awakes. Brian and Jerry leave the area.]
BRIAN
What time is the ferry?
JERRY
Another hour and a half.
[They drive to the harbour.]
BRIAN
I hope the ferry is early, come on let me have a look at your
pictures.
[He hands the camera to Brian.]
BRIAN
These look alright, oh the statue in the first seven
photographs you are in the background.
JERRY
Yeah, I remember that.
BRIAN
Then you went and stood at its side to get the profile.
JERRY
So?
BRIAN
That is the problem! look at the photos that damned statue is
still facing you! and look at it, it is ruddy well smiling!
BRIAN
Where are we going to go?
JERRY
I do not care, anywhere that is not here.
[Hearing the statue scream again, they look to the sky. They
see the statue flying towards the mainland.]
INT. IN THE WATCHERS LIBRARY - NIGHT
People sit around the table.
MARY:
How many more times must this vampire be killed.
MYLES:
[thoughtfully]
Dracula, he has been killed too many times.
MARY:
Well, it is said he cannot be killed.
MYLES:
[agrees]
That is what is written.
WILLIAMS:
It may have been written by people like us. But a hundred
years ago did the church dictate what they could write.
MYLES:
What would that mean?
MARY:
She realises what is meant. So, what if he was killed but
another came back and he kept coming back.
WILLIAMS:
Then a hundred years ago it may have been thought he could
not die.
MYLES
Makes sense, how could an undead be dead?
MARY:
Making it appear that the church was no match for the evil?.
MYLES:
So the reports may have been written by the clerics but the
view changed to be acceptable to the church.
MARY
Allowing the evil to continue.
MYLES
So we need to forget these books.
[He picks up the books then puts them on the floor.]
MARY
A simple case of the church defeating the church.
WILLIAMS
I do not think they would like being told that.
MARY
How could it be said differently?.
WILLIAMS
The catholic church has an increase in the amount of
exorcisms being called for.
MARY
[attempted humour]

MYLES
We need to make sure that what we write is what the reader

MYLES
So that would mean the stories of Dracula are false, or did he
know there is another?.
WILLIAMS
If there is another, and he protects, in theory there could be
lots of Dracula's.
DAVID
Since the tales of this Dracula started how many times has
Dracula been killed?.
MARY
Then if Dracula is a cover, who is the real threat?
MYLES
There is mention in mythology that an Eve was cast out of
the garden of Eden, that she became a demon.
MARY
How would we get vampires from demons?
MYLES
As a pure demon blood, she drank from a human and that
created the first of the vampires as we know of them.
WILLIAMS
There was mention of four others who sought the truth, as
we do. One of them found a passage. It is in one of these
books.
[He searches through the books in front of him.]
WILLIAMS

GILES
Where was it found? what was written before and after that?
WILLIAMS
I will find out for you. It does not say here.
MYLES
The Beast of Evermore Lives, advise caution, and, if you
suffer to meet her; that is her name.
WILLIAMS
The two lines before it and the two lines after it spoke of the
battles in the name.
GILES
The text itself. The number of letters is thirty six. The number

[He looks at them. They look puzzled.]
GILES

WILLIAMS
Do you really think one of us might look that way; in that way
lies witchcraft.
MARY
Yet the church does exorcisms.
GILES
But its name, the start of the words, Belac?
MYLES
I am looking, but I cannot see anything else.
WILLIAMS
Of battles in the name.
GILES
There is more, the name of that passage BEDEVLACIL.
If you take the name Belac from it you are only left with devil.
WILLIAMS
If that is the case and those two names are interlaced is this Belac
the devil or are the names together as that is what we think.
MYLES
If that is what we think, could that mean we are wrong?
[ A man walks in to the room.]
WILLIAMS
Excuse me? who are you.
[Giles recognises him. Marinius acknowledges him.]
GILES
I will vouch for him, oh did you bring a grave stone rubbing?.
MARINIUS
It is in your room Giles.
MARY
Where will you put that one Giles?
GILES
With the others he did. Lady and gentlemen, he is Marinius.
MARINIUS
You have asked me here, why?
MYLES
How did we ask you here?
MARINIUS
You said its name, The Beast of Evermore Lives,
advise caution.
MYLES
Who or what is she?
MARINIUS
Not many know of that name. No-one knows what she looks like.
MYLES
Then what is she?
MARINIUS
The Vampire Demon, Belac. The demon Belac that made the
first vampire.
GILES
I thought that the First was the first evil?
MARINIUS
No, the First came from her.
[They look puzzled. Marinius saw their expressions.]
MARINIUS
The demon drank human blood, she became a vampire within
the demon, a second was created that became a vampire.
GILES
So what is she?.
MARINIUS
She is The Vampire Demon, Belac. It has risen. And as Belac
it walks the earth again.
MARY
[fishing to get an answer]
People have tried to stop the vampire Dracula, is that who you
mean? we think there could be more than one of him, he may
protect another, can you tell us who the other is?.
MARINIUS
You are right, there is seven of the Dracula. You had reason to
call us!, we will fight those vampires and tell the one they
protect.
MARY
Is that the devil?.
MARINIUS
That is your name for him, for us it is The Demon within the
vampire demon Belac.
MYLES
These vampires; the Dracula's?, they protect her?
MARINIUS
The Dracula's know who the other is. It could be the first true
vampire, or who created the first
[Then Mary looks to the table.]
MARY
[thoughtfully]
We need to know more.
MARINIUS
We are rising, more maybe needed to stop her.
MYLES
Who is this her? and who is the we?
MARINIUS
Belac, I shall go to meet the others.
GILES
Who are the others? will our other friends return?
MARINIUS
They are with us, I can feel them rising.
WILLIAMS
Who are they?
GILES
Vampires who once sought to harm us, now I trust them
as friends.
MYLES
A vampire a friend?
GILES
And yet you talked with Marinius, mind you he is he has only
lived since ten BC.
MYLES
[to Marinius]
What can we do?
MARINIUS
Pray.
MARY
Pray for what?
MARINIUS
Pray that we win for you.
MYLES:
There are many of us that are willing to fight all that is evil.
GILES
We would like to be of help. When you them please give
them my regards.
MARINIUS
[to Myles]
We are the ones to fight her. We are risen, now I need to go.
WILLIAMS
It is nothing to do with this, but where is hell and how
big is hell.
GILES
No size has been said, why?
WILLIAMS
In this book, it says of a way in to hell through a land of a
thousand pillars, it is just a thought.
WILLIAMS
And a good thought, I have read a reference to the land of
pillars. It is in Western Australia, the Pinnacles National Park.
MYLES
On a magazine cover, it said of the devil reborn, that island is
only a hundred miles south of there.
INT. A CHURCH NIGHT (A very modern design)
[A woman awakes, curiously she looks around.]
BELAC
I have slept longer than I thought I
would.
[She stands and looks about.]
BELAC
Where am I, what is this place?
[Slowly she walks outside, turns to look at the building she
was in.]
BELAC
A church?, they have changed.
[Seeing a brightness in the sky she goes towards it.]
BELAC
Everything is so strange.
[Cars go past her, sounding their horns.]
[Soon, she gets into the town.]
BELAC
Why so many people here? even children playing? and in
the dark?.
[A bit further along the road.]
BELAC
Why are there not any others like me? What have the
Dracula's done?
[Passing a theatre she smiles as she sees a vision from one of
her children.]
BELAC
Good! an all night snack bar.
[Moving further a young man walking the other way,
passes by her. She smiles but he ignores her.]
BELAC
I think I will surprise him.
[Keeping in the darkness she follows him, walks into his house,
seeing his back, she softly growls. He turns to face her.]
XANDER
What! what are you doing in here?
[She flies to him, sinking her teeth into his neck. Waiting to
feel the weight of his body. She sliced the top of her breasts,
lifting his head to them forcing him to drink from her,
feeling him against her she smiles.
BELAC
Who shall I get for his first drink? Somebody who he will
enjoy for his first drink.
[She closes her eyes.]
BELAC
He likes girls that dance?.
[She thought of the last dance that she had been to. She
remembered with fondness having killed every-one there.]
BELAC
I will take him to the theatre.
[Standing at the exit of the theatre she could just hear music.
She walks towards it, then climbed to a skylight to look in.]
BELAC
Dancing has changed a lot.!
[Watching how the other girls get in, she alters her dress.
Then goes to the door.]
BELAC
Those clothes that they wear, they must have been made by a
vampire, so much skin and all those lovely blood veins on show.
[Coyly she looks to the man at the door, he opens the door for
her. Maybe the doorman thought she was happy to see him,
but Belac's thoughts were refuse me if you dare.]
[Inside she hears the music, coloured lights flash but it is
quite dark. Belac dances like the others do until the music stops,
then she looks about.]
BELAC
So much life to choose from.
[A girl walks near to her, Belac smiles at the girl. The girl
leaves. As the music starts she flies to the ceiling, going out
the skylight.]
BELAC
Now for the fun part, the chase.
[Running across the rooftops she watches the girl as she goes
into a library. Belac creeps to the doors she see's the doors can
swing in and out.]
[Belac looks about at the three people in the room and she
smiles at the girl.]
BELAC
You, will be mine.
[Belac became a vampire and growled loudly. The red haired girl
ran at her, Belac waited until she was near then slammed the
door in her face knocking her out.]
[Belac moved a step inside the library she smiles at the panic
she has caused. The man behind the counter pointed a rifle
at her.]
GILES
Get away from here!
[Belac watched as he started to pull the trigger then flew to the
girl thrust her hard against a wall, catching her body as it fell.
Turning she watched the bullets hit the doors.]
Easily lifting the blonde girls body up Belac ran to the doors,
she picked up the other girl. Then ran out into the night.]
BELAC
Where can I put them? The theatre!.
BELAC
It will give me somewhere to stay during the day.
INT. ROOM IN THE THEATRE - EVENING
[The following evening Xander awoke, Belac watched him
pace about the room, when he was ready she stood up and
smiled sweetly to him.]
XANDER
What do I do?.
BELAC
Simple, I put a body near you, like this. And you drink.
[She held the red haired girl from the library to him.]
BELAC
You feed from it, that one is special I will make her like us.
Later we can go and get a few others.
XANDER
Can I make this one like us?
BELAC
If you want to.
Xander drank from the girl then made her drink from him.
BELAC
Who will this girl want? I hope blondes have more fun, I
need a laugh.
[Grinning Xander wiped the blood from his lips.]
XANDER
Follow me. I know where to go.
[He led Belac towards the nightclub, Watching some girls about
to go in.]
XANDER
The one you chose, Buffy she will want one of them.
BELAC
Everything has to be done sneakily, nobody is to see us.
[They watch as the girls go in.]
BELAC
Tomorrow night will be fun for you but for tonight.
XANDER
There is another I always wanted, but she does not like me.
BELAC
[smiling]
Lead the way for she will soon
XANDER
And when they wake, I know who to send them after.
BELAC
Who is that?.
XANDER
In a Magic shop near here, a little blonde girl, I have to get
everything she never wanted.
BELAC
There is a plenty of drinks near here. If you want to turn them
to be like us, you can.
XANDER
As a vampire I could be any-ones friend.
EXT. A RAILWAY BRIDGE - EVENING
[Belac and Buffy stand on a railway bridge, watching as
the trains pass under them.]
BUFFY
I always wanted to go to the city on one of them.
[Belac looks at her, puzzled.]
BELAC
Why?
BUFFY
I wanted to be in a film.
BELAC
There is nothing stopping you now.
BUFFY
What about the others?
BELAC
They are to interested in themselves to think of any-one else.
That is why I like being with you.
BUFFY
Would you come with me? I would not want to be alone
there, and I know you do not want to be alone here.
BELAC
Ok, then both of us can go be in the movies.
BUFFY
Thank you, have you ever been on a train?
BELAC
I have never needed to.
BUFFY
If we are lucky, it could be fun.
[Buffy went and bought the tickets for them.]
INT. ON THE TRAIN - LATE EVENING
[Buffy and Belac sit in the empty carriage.]
BELAC
Why did you buy tickets for us?
BUFFY
I could see no reason to draw attention to us.
BELAC
I am glad you said that, there is something I should tell you,
that we can do.
BUFFY
What is that?.
BELAC
If in doubt, scare them.
BUFFY
What does that mean?
BELAC
Something that remains a secret about old vampires.
BUFFY
I am not old.
BELAC
Nor will you ever be but you are from me and I am old.
BUFFY
Ok, so what is the secret?
BELAC
When we walk into the moonlight we show why we are
known as the un-dead.
BUFFY
That does sound interesting.
BELAC
Then watch this.
[Belac walks into the moonlight and appears as a skeleton.]
BUFFY
That will help. It does nothing for your clothes though.
BELAC
But be careful, the humans do not know of this. When we
drink from them, the greater fear they have the better.
BUFFY
This is beginning to sound good.
BELAC
As you can smell that fear and if no-one else can see you,
walk into the moonlight the fear in them can be a wonderful
smell.
EXT. IN THE CITY - LATE EVENING
[Standing outside the train station in the city, feeling cold.]
BUFFY
One of the problems about going for a trip in a train.
BELAC
What?
BUFFY
I was told it always seems colder when you get off.
BELAC
This trip could have been better planned.
BUFFY
Why? I planned it like this.
BELAC
Look at them shiver! it must be cold here.
BUFFY
And we should behave as they do.
BELAC
Then where will we stay tonight?
BUFFY
You really were asleep for a long time!. We wait for another
train, as people walk past we talk about it being a cold
night, then see if we are invited to some-one's house.
BELAC
Then what?
BUFFY
If it is nearby we hold hands. If we go by car, you pretend
to fall asleep on my shoulder, I will make a few comments
just to keep him or her happy.
BELAC
And once we are in their house?.
BUFFY
Either we kill them or we do not kill them.
BELAC
What if they want some fun?
BUFFY
Then we have some fun.
BELAC
Those humans will only want to have sex with us.
BUFFY
Yes, I know, maybe I should have been a little clearer, the
fun we have, it will be us that will have the fun, our type of fun.
BELAC
But what about the bodies.
BUFFY

BUFFY

We turn them, stake them and their clothes in the correct shape.
BELAC
Oh right, and when the sun is on them they burn, leaving an
area of dead grass.
BUFFY
Shaped like an angel, if they upset us.
BELAC
Do you have a good imagination?
BUFFY

BELAC
[she smiles]
Imagine that they have been bad.
[Buffy smiles to her.]
INT. IN THE HOUSE - MORNING
[Belac and Buffy wake up in bed, they look at the bodies of
the humans.]
BELAC
Damn humans! why did they think we were here just for their
enjoyment.
[Buffy and Belac smile to each other.]
BUFFY
Oh well, look at the bright side.
BELAC
Another bright side?
BUFFY
Sure, we had a nice drink last night and somewhere nice to
stay now that the sun is out. Plus I can use their phone to find
out if there is any films being made.
BELAC
Never thought of it like that, she might even have some
clean clothes for us.
[Buffy tries on a tight fitting leather outfit. She goes to look at
herself in the mirror.]
BUFFY
Damn! I forgot about that. Oh Belac dear!
[Belac walks into the room.]
BELAC
What is it?
BUFFY
Does this fit me ok?
BELAC
Oh yes! it fits very snugly, I wonder if there is one for me?
[Belac tries on one, Buffy mutters her appreciation.]
[Later that morning Buffy rang a casting Agency.]
BUFFY speaking on phone
Hi, my friend and I want to get into the movies. Are there any
films being made tonight that want any extras.
RECEPTIONIST
Can you get there today?
BUFFY replying to her
Sorry, my friend, she works during the day. We'd like to be
in a horror film and if it helps we wouldn't mind being a bit

I won't lie to you, it won't hinder you. There is a vampire film
in production at one of the film lots in the city, if you can both
be there at just after sun set.
BUFFY replying to her
We will be there.
RECEPTIONIST
I'll let them know you'll be there, what are your names?
BUFFY replying
My name is BUFFY and my girlfriends name is BELAC.
[Buffy replaced the phone, then went to Belac what they were
doing that night.]
BUFFY
There is one thing though.
BELAC
What is it?
BUFFY
You must remember not to eat every-one.
BELAC
Another thing as well.
BUFFY
What?
BELAC
I hope they do not expect you to be subtle.
BUFFY
That is a thought I must remember to leave them on the
lawn for tomorrows patterns.
EXT. FILM PRODUCTION AREA - EVENING
[Smiling at where they were. Then walking forward.]
BUFFY
Belac stop, there is a shadow.
[Belac looks at the evening sky.]
BELAC
It must be a street light, it is too late for the sun.
[A door opens behind them.]
STAGE HAND
Is there any extra's out here?
BELAC
We want to be extra's for a film, we were told to come here
but I think we are lost, what film is this?.
STAGE HAND
The Bridge Of The Damned
BELAC
[she smiles to Buffy]
That is the one.
STAGE HAND
Come on in then girls
INT. THE FILMING AREA - EVENING
The other extra's were sat waiting to be called.
STAGE HAND
Will you wait with the those girl's.
EXTRA #1
I do not think I have seen you here before are you in any of
the scenes.
EXTRA #2
And what are you wearing? that is not what we were told
to wear.
[Belac looks at her, she did not like the girl. She did not like
the feeling she had, this was starting to be boring.]
BELAC
I am getting bored here.
Knowing what might happen next, Buffy smiled.
BUFFY
I think we should sit somewhere else.
[One of the other extra's went into the changing room. Belac
grins to Buffy.]
BELAC
I will be back in a minute.
INT. THE CHANGING ROOM - NIGHT
[The girl looks into the mirror and adjusts her make-up]
EXTRA #1
I was picked for the part of a vampire earlier, I just wish it
did not take so long to put this silly vampire make-up on!
[Belac smiles to her.]
BELAC
I will not have that problem, you see.
[Belac stands right behind the girl]
BELAC
I do not have to pretend that I am a vampire.
[Belac faced the girl as she became a vampire, her eyes
widened as she smelt the fear, Belac tore into the girls neck.]
[Closing the door behind her Belac smiles to Buffy.]
BELAC
I feel so much better now.
[Buffy invited the other girl into the room.]
INT. OUTSIDE THE CHANGING ROOM
A man approached Belac.
THE DIRECTOR
Nice costume, but that is not the one I want.
BELAC
It fit's my character, I like how it feels.
THE DIRECTOR
Look, it is not right....
[Belac interrupts him, she emits a long low growl.]
BELAC
Sorry, I forgot where I was, unless you want me to make that
sound again, mind you it is these clothes that brings that
out in me.]
[The director looks at her shoes, what she was wearing then
at her face, then he noticed Granore wearing the same clothes.]
THE DIRECTOR
You two, dressing like that?, you both make that sound? you
are so much better than what I wanted, great look.
BUFFY
And we are wearing contact lenses they are light sensitive,
when we look into bright lights, spotlights we will appear
as vampires.
THE DIRECTOR
Okay, if you can react like that, you have got it, come with me.
[Leading them to the set. ]
THE PRODUCER
Who are they?
THE DIRECTOR
[to the Producer]
Those girls have that something else. This is Buffy, she will
play Gail and Belac will be Laura. Jeremy will be Matthew
for this bit.
THE DIRECTOR
Listen up people, I am going to try something slightly
different, this is Laura. Matthew! I want you to jump
out at her, you will both battle.
JEREMY
(to Belac)
Have you done any fighting before?
BELAC
No, but I have watched others doing it.
THE DIRECTOR
She will try to take a bite from your neck. Then you escape,
only to be faced with Buffy, sorry, Gail.
CAMERA OPERATOR
If I start filming from behind Gail, then as Laura and
Matthew's fight ends, I will track round to face Gail.
THE DIRECTOR
Ok people!, places please!. Laura, you have just walked to
here, you are going to a fresh grave a bit further on
where you will find a meal, just make the fight scene
seem real.
[He takes her to where he wants her.]
THE DIRECTOR
Oh and please remember to flash those eyes and teeth at the
camera. The way you look is great, where did you get those
contacts from?
BUFFY
We had them specially made.
THE DIRECTOR
Can I get some?.
BUFFY
Yes but at the moment, if we do not say, we will get more
work.
[The director smiles. They went to their positions.]
THE DIRECTOR
And...Action!
[Belac took two paces forward, Jeremy jumped onto a head-
stone then jumped to Belac. Catching him in mid-air she
threw him onto the ground. He stood and as she attacked him,
he made her fall, turning to escape he faced a crouching Gail
she emitted a long growl, flashing her eyes. [for the benefit
of the camera.]
[She twisted him to the side, glaring to a camera. As she was
about to bite she loosened her grip, he pushed away then
plunged a stake into her chest. She looks down to it, allowed
a loud growl then glared into his eyes.]
GAIL
Missed.
[Opening her mouth, [just for the camera,] she pretended to
bite him. ]
THE DIRECTOR
Cut! What's this? ad-libbing?, I do like it though.]
[Two make-up people rushed to her, they put fake blood on
her teeth. Then went back to their positions.]
THE DIRECTOR
Back to your places!, and... Action!
[Buffy dropped him, watching him crawl away, turning to Belac.]
GAIL
[smiling to Laura]
Laura dear, would you like a taste?
[Laura licked Gail's teeth, smiles to the light then walks away.]
THE DIRECTOR
Cut!
[Jeremy goes to the director.]
JEREMY
That was fantastic!, they are good. I am telling you, I felt
scared, keep them in the film, they will make us all
stars. And put us in your next film.]
EXT. OUTSIDE THE FILM SET - early evening
[As Jeremy was driving home they were standing at the gate
of the film lot.]
JEREMY
Where do you two live?
BUFFY
Today was our first day in the city, do you know of any cheap
motels?
JEREMY
There will be no funny business, but I have a second house
where I live. If you want, then stay there and we will work
out a payment thing later?]
BUFFY
That will save us a lot of mucking about, thanks.
JEREMY
Good, get in the car I will take you there now.
BELAC
Is it far to where you live?
JEREMY
It is about an hour's drive, any reason.
BELAC
My skin is allergic to sunlight. I come out in big red blotches.
JEREMY
Ok, I will go straight into the garage, we can get to your new
house safely from there.
SCENE INT. JEREMY'S HOUSE DAY
Sat on the sofa looking out of the window at Belac and Buffy
sitting in the shade . Jeremy answers the phone.
ANGELA BUTTON
Jeremy! hi, this is Angela Button, I am your new
representative at Creative American Actors.
JEREMY
What happened to the last bloke?
ANGELA BUTTON
Promoted, a new film is being planned, about vampires in love,
they would like you and the new girls to play the leads. A
script has been sent for you to read.
JEREMY
Yes the courier just delivered them.
Using the intercom
JEREMY
I have a new script here, if one of you would like to come
and get it.
[Belac went to see him. He gave her two copies for them to
read.]
SCENE INT. WHERE THE GIRLS LIVED
[In his front room that evening.]
JEREMY
What did you think of the script girls?
BUFFY
Is rubbish to hard a word?
JEREMY
That script? what was wrong with it?.
BELAC
I would not pay to watch it. All it is, is vampires walk into
town, vampires kill people, people kill vampires end of story.
Where is the fun in that.
[Jeremy picked the phone to miss Button.
JEREMY
I was nearly happy enough with it, but the girls weren't, they
didn't like the script as it was boring and they weren't agreeable
to how much they were going to be paid.]
ANGELA BUTTON on the phone
I am sorry about the pay offer, but because it is their first film
the finance people say they won't increase the offer.
JEREMY
In that case they won't do your film and considering the feed
back I am only in the spotlight because of them, so I won't
be in your film.
BUFFY
We are looking at another script, the one that was in our room
Jeremy so if she wants us in that film, a substantial increase
in her offer is needed.
[Angela told Jeremy that she would get back to him.]
[When Angela Button replied.]
ANGELA BUTTON
They've upped the offer to her by fifty thousand dollars, can you
pass that on?
JEREMY
I don't need to, it won't be accepted. If those people want the
girls to be in their film they should have offered a suitable
amount.
EXT. BY SWIMMING POOL - DAY
[Jeremy looks them lazing by the pool.]
BUFFY
Jeremy, that script in the room, it is ok, the action could be
better, the script is a bit easier to remember and the pay
could be ok.
JEREMY
Is this one alright with Belac
BUFFY
Most of the film can be shot in the studios, you know how
much Belac hates travelling, sunlight and all.
JEREMY
Have you accepted it?.
BUFFY
No, the agreement was that we will all appear in films, so that
is what we will keep to.
[Jeremy spent the next day reading the script. He spoke to Buffy
in the evening.]
JEREMY
Buffy? it is Jeremy, I have read the script. It seems ok, so if
you want to phone them. If you're ok with it we can go out for
a meal, to celebrate, at eight tonight?.
[At seven thirty Jeremy got into the car and waited for them.
Buffy opens the car door.]
Buffy
So where are we going?
JEREMY
There's a nice little place I know, I've been there A few times,
but the neighbour-hood isn"˜t exactly welcoming.
BELAC
That's ok.
JEREMY
And about your clothes, don't take this the wrong way, I
mean you both look good in dresses.
[Buffy looks to him, she nearly smiles.]
JEREMY
But if you want to get ahead in this business you need a
gimmick. It might be good if you always wore that
leather and lace outfit.
[Jeremy was right, the neighbour hood was not over flowing
with nice people. Two men had offered to look after their car,
for a price.]
[Walking towards the restaurant they were being followed by
two men, Belac motioned to Buffy that two others were ahead
of them.]
[Stepping in front, a gun each, the other muggers came up
behind them.]
MUGGER #1
Get in the alley.
JEREMY
Best do as they say.
MUGGER #2
(to the girls)
Best do as he says.
[Jeremy had only gone two paces, he turned to kick one of
them but they were ready for the heroics and knocked him out.]
[Belac and Buffy look unimpressed.]
BUFFY
I like him.
BELAC
So do I.
[Then Buffy smiled sweetly.]
BUFFY
But with out him we can play.
[They both look to the muggers.]
BELAC
[she smiles]
Fun time!
MUGGER #1
Just give me all your money, you
bitches!
[A gun is pointed at Buffy.]
BUFFY
No, and I am not going to, so give me the gun.
[He shot her twice in the stomach. She falls to the floor.
Buffy looks to Belac.]
BUFFY
Why am I on my back?
[Silently her body rises to her feet. She is upset. Blood
dribble's from her wounds.]
BUFFY
You have put holes in my dress, that is not very nice of you.
BELAC
So that is what happens when you are shot.
BUFFY
I must admit, I has been a long time since I was shot
MUGGER #3
H, H, How are you standing up?
BELAC
[to the muggers]
That dress is going cost a bit to fix, so who of you is going
to pay for it?
[They shot again at Belac. Seeing the next bullet start to leave
the gun.]
BUFFY
Any last words?
[Buffy darted forward, bit two, then went back just in time to
catch the bullet.]
[Belac moved forward four paces, she bit one of them, long
enough to make him know she is a vampire.]
[Buffy, with one of their guns, held to a muggers side, pulled
the trigger just a bit.]
BUFFY
Empty your wallets boys!
BELAC
Empty your wallets, now!
[Three of them did, Buffy pulled the trigger. The blood flowed
from the wound. They emptied their guns into her.]
BUFFY
I think you should remember, that does not work on us.
[Belac slammed one of them hard against the wall, then drank
the other dry, throwing them both deep into the alley.]
[Jeremy slowly regained consciousness.]
JEREMY
What happened?
BUFFY
One of them shot his friend, I stuck my finger in the hole
where the bullet had gone, but they still left in a hurry.
JEREMY
I did not do much good then.
BELAC
That is because you did tried to do the same sort of fighting
as you would in the studio.
[When news of the attempted mugging appeared in the
newspapers, in the article about them being vampires.]
[It was Buffy who stopped the accusations, she went on a
late night variety show in New York.]
INT. THE INTERVIEW - NIGHT
As Buffy prepared to go on stage.
INTERVIEWER
I know I should not say this but some one will, so here goes.
My guest was called in at the very last minute. There is a lot
of hype about this actress being an actual vampire. So ladies
and gentlemen, I am sorry to say it but, well, this is an actual
interview with a vampire.
[As Buffy walks onto the stage she is applauded. She went to
the seats and sat down.]
INTERVIEWER
I am sorry but I have got to ask this question, but, are you a
vampire?
[Buffy waits.]
BUFFY
You forgot your next line!
INTERVIEWER
I did? what is it?
BUFFY
And if you are, please do not bite me.
[Buffy stared at him.]
INTERVIEWER
[he grins]
Oh yes, but I had to ask because the films you have been in,
you are always a vampire.
BUFFY
What can I say, I am the best at what I do.
INTERVIEWER
Really?, can you show us how good you are?
[Buffy leans forward, she pretends to put contact lenses in.
Starting to look up she begins to growl.]
[The interviewer jumped behind his chair, very quickly.]
INTERVIEWER
God that was good! The takings for your next film just doubled.
[Buffy flashed her yellow eyes at him, growling very loudly
displaying her teeth.]
INTERVIEWER
HOLY CRAP!
[He was standing behind his desk.]
INTERVIEWER
If ever I make a film with vampires, I want you in it. Look at
me, I am shaking!
BELAC
[she smiles]
What can I say, I am good at what I do.
[The interviewer sat down again.]
INTERVIEWER
These accusations? what do you think about them?
BUFFY
The journalist is obviously very thick. His words were not
well thought through, well were they?.
INTERVIEWER
Them's is fighting words. Why do you say that?
BUFFY
If I was really a vampire, and I really thought he was trying
to stop me, how long ago would I have sunk my teeth into
his neck?
[The interviewer nervously laughed with her.]
EXT. LOOKING AT THE CITY
She left the show a bit later, she looked about the city.
BELAC
[to herself]
I think I would like to sleep in my
own bed tonight.
She left New York and just over an hour later she walked
into the room where her coffin was, in Los Angeles.
