The very thankful BB appreciation thread

BB was the first real online forum I've actively and regularly participated in, and now that I've stepped outside and tried a few other forums, I can see how insane some of them are, and that in turn has made me VERY thankful for this place.

Seriously, I'm officially calling it quits on other forums. Maybe it's that this one is a little smaller, and maybe I was being a bit naive, but people here are just so much...nicer. Going to other fandoms, to be frank, is just nuts, and not in a good way. People get so set in their ways with absolutely zero room for movement, and more often than not just wind up insulting people they don't agree with.

So whether it's due to the BB admin/mod staff, or just the people we have here in general, I'm glad to be here.

I think it is a combination of both. BB isn't perfect (no site is) but when BB is working in full swing, it is the best place on the net as far as I am concerned.

I've joined other forums, both for the Buffyverse and for other fandoms, and there is no comparison. I've found that even when I want to talk about non-Buffy related matters, I want to talk about them here. The rhythms of BB feel like second nature to me. I like that I have a sort of short hand with this site. I have friends here. Real friends. Even when I've been gone for awhile and come back to more new faces than old ones, I manage to slip back into it, almost effortlessly. I find myself protective of the site and the people here. There's been problems before and on any other site I would have left and never looked back, but BB just seems to be worth the effort. In terms of fandom and an online presence, this place is home to me.

I haven't seen ANY Buffy or Angel episodes in over two years. I've sort of fallen out of being a fan of the shows...I guess you can call me a semi-fan? I don't have any merchandise relating to these shows anymore....and I don't feel guilty for it, any of it. BUT I love these boards because of the people. I love getting to know you guys and reading all the different discussions on here. I love looking at the different art threads here.

You guys, staff and members alike, are amazing.

I had the exact same experiences with Boards, this was the first one I joined, and it ruined other forums for me, I joined others but hadn't stuck around.

I'm exactly the same, I can't remember the last time I watched the show,I think it was 3 years. I'm now getting back into being interested in the show, but I had taken a break from it without taking a break from BB!

I may not have posted here for years before coming back (I grew out of forums for a while), but I did come back. Buffy-Boards haven't left my mind. Actually, I think I enjoy the boards more now than when I originally joined.

Yes! I love BB! The people here are so nice and not at all hostile! What would be considered ''heated arguments'' on this site happen every single hour in another forum. I can express my views on Buffy without someone saying ''oh, it's just a show, why do you care?''. Elitism is pretty non-existent here. A fun, and relaxing place to be.

Like [MENTION=262]FaithsFollower[/MENTION] I haven't actually watched Buffy in ages (I did watch a few Angel eps recently though) But I still come here pretty much everyday.

I was always sorta scared by forums. I had lurked on a few before I joined here and seen how amazingly nasty people were to each other.

I dunno, but it feels like there is a level of respect other members show eachother here that is extremely rare on other forums. It makes me feel so much more relaxed. All I've ever wanted to do by joining a forum is find some like minded people to discuss the shows that I love, without being attacked for my opinion. To not take it all too seriously and just have some fun. And I can do that here 🙂

Oh, yes. I have been on a few other forums before. Only one of them was about Buffy, but it wasn't quite what I wanted. Not saying that the people weren't nice, but it was a pretty small German forum, and since I'm watching all movies and TV shows in the original language versions I didn't even know all the expressions they used in the German version. So I came here 🙂
I was also on a forum about music and musical instruments. There were so many unfriendly users, it's unbelievable. You actually couldn't ask a simple question, because, if it had been asked before, they would bash you for your 'inability' to use the search function. They'd also constantly criticize false spelling or grammar, and use sarcasm to confuse you even more. It wasn't fun, really.

So, I'm eternally grateful for this great forum. It's really great here and I come here almost every day. I have been a member for about two and a half years and this is the only forum where I have been active for pretty much the whole time since I have created my account.

No seriously, I may have been away for a while (due to reasons beyond my control), but I came back because this place is amazing. Like others have said, it's the one and only forum where you can come in and feel at home. You don't feel like you're walking on thin ice because all of the people here are extraordinarily mature and considerate. On any other site, you'll see endless bickering and constant disrespect. On BB, you see nothing but love, and a general appreciation for the reason that we're all here. That's rare in any forum, or any website for that matter. (Seriously guys, have you seen the comment section on Yahoo? I thought people like that were extinct.)

So yeah, an extreme thank you. 🙂

BB is one of my two happy places on the interwebs. I have met so many awesome people on here and I love it! Plus it's one place I can geek out on how much I enjoy Buffy without judgment. 🙂

I'm happy to see that everyone appreciates our little community here. I remember back to my first days on the internet I was on a forum and I had made a thread and deleted it, I can't remember why but I do remember some member creating a thread calling me a deleted with the post simply as 'just saying'.

Like seriously? I had just signed up that day as well, what a way to welcome new members.

Yeah, a forum doesn't become friendly by nature it seems. Not forum of some size anyway.
So it is an impressing effort made by mods and admins here that I appreciate. It can be a very unthankful job at times.

Hopefully this is understood even though expressing appreciation isn't my strongest side.

I love this place. I love all the forum functions and discussions. It was my first forum too and still has all the best extras. I appreciate the job Buffy (feels right to call you that again lol), Faith and the mods do. I hope you keep up the good work for years to come!

I've been part of a lot of forums and communities and even though some are worse than others, BB is by far the best. Lots of friendly and mature people and always an underlying sense of respect for each other! I think one of the most remarkable thing about BB is that it doesn't have a single flamer. I haven't noticed anyone at least! And, this being the internet, that's quite a feat!

It's a sanctuary, and to be honest I use this forum more for trivial and personal matters rather than talking Buffy! That's how great BB is! It's developed into something more important than a fan club. It's a home!

I really like these forum. It's the one and only forum that I've ever stayed with. Usually, I don't visit forums that often at all. I don't usually keep visiting them every day and posting. And I like the people here.
