This book is written by Christopher Golden. I think the characters are well written most of the time. I cant really see Xander surfing but that's just me. I also think that Anya isnt very well written but I think most writers miss when it comes to her. Its set in season 5. There's quite a few episode references to Go Fish. The Council are portrayed pretty spot on, they show up giving Buffy orders and when she wants nothing to do with them they go and get Faith. Faith's great in this book, the scenes with Buffy portray just the right amount of tension. I'm not a fan of how Spike is written. I just cant see him doing what Buffy asks him to do, even when he's obsessed with her. Although Tara slapping him was a pleasant surprise.
The story lines good, the two demon races being at war, one not being evil, the action is good as well.
