Okay.. can anyone advise why such a wonderful plot device as the Wolf, Ram and Heart books were left in Pylea by Wesley?

What sense would it have made to have left the books there? Did the script writers or Joss have ideas for future storylines and then just dump them?

Well, the book they used to get TO Pylea didn't manage to go to Pylea with them. Maybe the books IN Pylea couldn't have left Pylea with them. Or maybe it's been a year since I watched any Angel and I'm remembering all wrong.

Nope, you're quite right BB the book they used to get there stayed in LA, there was no mention of the bringing the books found in Pylea back which I find terribly odd. Strange too considering the emphasis the scriptwriters actually put on them.

Maybe they were just trying to show the "we are in all dimensions" thing of W&H.
And I don´t think they´d be able to bring the books to their dimension...

Wolfram and Hart no doubt maintains a dominion of many worlds, all of them with their own enchanted (dimensionally locked) books of law written for that specific world.

Nothing in them except a mass of legalese dressed up as ancient feudal law to keep the masses in check. There isn't much to the book themsevles, just the discovery that WR&H are present in so many different worlds controlling them.

Ah! That explains a lot.

I had in my head that they would be able to use the books in the fight against W&H.

Ta muchly.

As a practitioner of magic progresses, they become better at it and their magic style improves, yet remains unique to them like an art style. Or so Willow implied in season 8.

If these were written long enough ago and use an older form of their magic then it may have taught them about the actual creatures themselves while they were corporeal, anthropologically interesting but now the Wolf, Ram and Hart are energy beings and far beyond that it wouldn't be usable as a weapon against them.

Having eternity as a ball of light and thousands of worlds to pillage for power and magics means they not doubt have an amazing lattice between their world and ours of hundreds of different magics protecting them.

I didn't even take that from it. I took what I believe was the actual meaning of finding the books.

'Don't trust the group'.

If I remember correctly, before we find these books, though we are unsure (by us I mean Team Angel) Cordelia is still a princess and loving it.

After this, we then learn about Groo and add it all together and get worried.

However, what I find 'odd' is that you, Veyron, find it 'odd' that they don't bring the books back because it wasn't mentioned.

If you remember, it wasn't 'mentioned' that they couldn't take the book through in the first place until they were already in Pylea.
Strikes me as well within the realms of reason that they couldn't bring the books back, without bothering to test it, as those books opened the portal on the Pylean side.

In fact one could argue common sense.

Hi Blondie Bear - it is good to be back😛

I'd tell you to be nice, but I'd be wasting my typing capacity. So instead, I'll tell you to TRY not to be too mean to my adoptee.
I had also just assumed that the group would think it pointless to try and bring the books back seeing as they knew they couldn't take the other through.
Also, I just got the impression that they were just trying to make the audience know 'WR&H are everywhere' *queue spooky shock music*
But I like what everyone has said and stuff, never really thought of it to deeply. I guess I was all to focused on Fred 😛
