The word "Apocalypse"

I'm just curious, given that the word's used every 5 minutes on buffy to describe the end of the world, does anyone know the REAL meaning of the word "Apocalypse"?

like each time the word is used... apocalypse is supposed to be the end of the world... that's why they joke about the plural of apocalypse, because it should only happen once

It's supposed to mean the fortelling and prophetic revelation of the end of the world.

I only know that coz i had to do a project on the four horsemen of the apocalypse

dyingangel is close except for the part about the end of the world. The word apocalypse simply means an unveilng or a revelation and has nothing to do with the end of the world at all.
Funny the way things get lost like that
