Yeah I hope this is a legitimate spinoff series and not a damn "reboot". I know Sarah Michelle Gellar isn't the first Buffy because it all started with Kristy Swanson but you can't recast her at this point and it wouldn't even make sense. I have a good feeling that the writers will know how to properly spinoff from BtVS & AtS.


So if the new slayer is legitimately going to be black, would you want/could you see potentially Robin Wood or Charles Gunn involved in this new slayers life somehow? Any of the buffyverse characters realistically could be imagined into the new slayers life, but if Wood or Gunn were somehow related to the new slayer, I think it would be amazeballs! Why the hell not?! It's like the new slayer could always have Wood, Buffy & Co. on speed dial if she needed help out of a fight or whatever. I hope the new slayer is in New York City as well and that can tie into Fray!

Only issue with that is it takes out the suspense of the new slayer's problems. If she's having issues saving the world, why doesn't she just call Buffy? If there's a monster she's struggling to deal with, why doesn't she just call Buffy? The new slayer can't have any way to contact Buffy and co otherwise it makes her look stupid for not involving them when she's have problems where failure means the end of the world.

Having her be the daughter of Anne (though that would make her 14 tops so probably too young), gives the tie to the original series without being able to contact the original characters. Also it would show an interracial relationship where the woman is white (which is still quite a taboo thing in movies and tv).

I think its a way of putting a new spin on something. I'm more in favour of re-boots than sequels. Re-boots worked wonders for the Bond and Batman films. But then in those cases I guess their franchises which were on-going or you knew they would return. But they were in a poor state, so a new coat of paint was needed.

Reboots on teen shows are just cashing in on new teens. Shows like Buffy "grew up" with us. Daria was the after school snack. Teen Wolf (yes its better than the movie) does a similar thing, which is why I didnt get into it until s3 cos s1-2 felt a bit young and s5 is a bit beyond me right now! TVD did it wrong making the focus about incestuous sex circles but was a good practice ground for the network to get it right for The 100 - another show which grows up with its audience. I hope higher pitched voices and over dramatic facial features make Charmed better than it was. Supernatural has been running so long now its intergenerational.

Can we get a Firefly Re-boot? It could never live up to expectations and the fans will be mental.
