okay maybe 'common knowledge' was not the term i should have used, you have a point. you're just the first person i've met who thinks she really meant every word.
as for how -
because of the circumstances under which she said that - she said that clearly aiming to cut as deep as she could.
because since when has she never trusted angel, never loved him?
because the issue of buffy not being able to love riley the way he deserved to be loved and the way she loved angel has been discussed thouroughtly (especially through btvs season 5). she never told riley she loved him, she never could. and as a person who is in love, let me tell you that to tell your boyfriend you love him when you really do with all your heart - that's the easiest thing in the world. she never said these words to riley but she *did* say them to her ex, who in fact was the love of her life. kinda interesting priorities she got there if you ask me lmao.
buffy didn't trust riley, nor did she love him, and that was proven best in the storyline of her mom and her cancer. she never cried in front of him, never opened her soul (and he understood why wwhen dawn mentioned she did that with angel). he also understood she didn't love him, as he said.

I voted no. Because I think Riley was unnecessarily mean to Angel; needless to say to Buffy too. He acted like she hasn't got a say in this. He acted like he was the only one who has got a say in all what's happening. He was so immature and so mean.

I don't think he was unecessary mean to Riley because Riley was trying to act all hard too. It was just the testosterone acting up anyway. But let's face it, a lot of us were waiting for that fight. I sure was.

Hehe, I voted no. They both acted like testosterone driven boys who obviously didn't like each other and wanted to make the other as jealous/miserable as possible. It was kinda expected.

Although I have to admit, I loved that eppie.... didn't much like Riley around this point, and come on, Angel kicking his butt? (And how Buffy REACTED afterwards?!) That was just funny 😉 (inappropriate probably, but still, can't deny the humor factor there)

I say go Angel. Angel had a right to be mean to Riley after all Buffy loved Angel and Angel knew that he was upset that someone might take that away from him. Sure Angel let her go but he had to do what was right for Buffy. Although Angel and Buffy loved each other to the end. GO BANGEL!

Wow, you are so aggresive!!
I haven't voted yet but I think I will go for no! I can understand everyones opinions but i just think Angel went too far! In my opinion he left Buffy so really he had no right treating Riley the way he did. I never have really loved the Riley and Buffy pairing but I think he was right for her at the time. She had lost angel then been screwed over by Parker. It was nice for her to have a nice man in her life. I know it wasn't just Angels fault, Riley could have dealt with it better but I don't think Angel handled it very well I mean he's over 200 years old, he was acting like a teenager! And do vampires even have testosterone! ( I know they probably do, but until they find a Vampire and do tests on it I remain doubtful!!)

Hey leave Angel alone. Riley was the one who started the fight Angel was defending himself he said himself it was an accident and if it was good enough for Buffy then it should be good enough for you guys.

no way GO ANGEL first angel got attacked by the initiative boys then riley came and he was goin to attack angel too so they both really felt liek smacking each other around.

i thought the meeting of angel & riley was pretty appropriate considering they are pretty rough & tumble bunch overall. later on when they are in buffy's dorm room she bunches the both of them and they don't bat an eye!
i was thinking that angel would kick riley's behind up and down the block. and i was trying really hard to see who was taller. is riley a huge guy or what?

i voted no because we can't really blame him for being jealous!and by the way riley was mean too! hello 1girl+2guys(lots of testosterone)=troubles! nothing new...

^ he wasn't trying to stand in the way he just wanted to apologise to Buffy I mean he had a right to see her. And just cause he let her go doesn't mean the love each other any less I don't think he was ready to accept that Buffy could move on with her life I think we all do that sometimes.

He Came On A Bit Too Strong

IMO Angel Came On A Bit Too Strong.
Angel Was Acting Way To Jealous And Should've Been Able To Deal With Buffy Having A New Boyfriend.
But In Defence Angel Was Being Attacked By The Initiative Which Probably Gave Him No Reason To Not Hurt Riley.

I thought it was really funny, anyway Reilly attacked Angel, when all Angel wanted to do was apologize to Buffy.

Angel: You actually sleep with this guy? :lmao:

Yep. Keehee. I love Angel's humor.
No actually. I think he deserved to get upset. Sure he probably shouldn't have thrown him against the wall but still...it's not like if he didn't Riley wouldn'tve because we all know Riley was harboring surpressed rage against Angel. Plus he wouldn't let Angel get by him so he deffinately deserved it!
