The Yorkshire Ripper: Should he be let out?

See when I think of it I think of it as, if someone has taken a life (or lives) then what gives them the right to live? Why should they be living if other people aren't for no reason but because some person wanted to kill them.
Universal human rights, that's what. I refer to the "Torture" thread for more on my stance on this, but basically - if you can decide someone has no right to live, why shouldn't he have every right to have decided those 13 should have died? And if there's no universal right to live, why should I give a damn those peolpe got killed? I didn't know any of them, so to me, it doesn't make a difference if they live or die, no?

Either human rights are universal (and then, death penalty is the same as murder), or they're not (and then, killing shouldn't be illegal in the first place).

Exactly what I was thinking!

I feel like he had 12 considering he killed what 13 people?
I thought that you were just talking about murderers in general, rather than this one, that's how it began to sound.

Oh, I am talking about them too. You might think everybody deserves a second chance, but I personally don't think vicious psychopaths who murder young kids, adults, and animals deserve anymore chances.

I think that even vicious psychopaths who would support the state slaughter of hundreds of people deserve a second chance.

(Vis-a-vis animal murder, you're on a forum full of meat-eaters, I doubt that many share your Batman-vigilante wrath, though I can sympathise)

I don't care if any of you people share my views, just because you people don't like it doesn't mean I'm not going to mention how I feel. And the other part is opinion. You think freaks deserve a second chance and I don't.

Okay, that's just foldey army crankiness.

You're entitled to voice your views, and nobody said you weren't. But noboy's opinion is sacred, and this is a discussion forum. If you really believe in something, you should be able to rationally support your stance if it's challenged, without gettin' huffy about it...

And might I add what exactly do you mean by "you people..."?

To me it's not about what they deserve. That's not what it's about. Life is either precious or it isn't.
