Did anybody find it kind of unusual that the main idea behind this ep - "that Xander has no powers, therefore he is helpless - we don't want him to get hurt so he shouldn't play in our reindeer games" isn't mentioned after this ep? As a huuuuge Xander fan I'm glad, because he is as invaluable to the Scoobs as anyone. I guess the rest of the Scoobies (with Willow's exception) had to adopt that position to drive the plot. Did anyone notice that Willow was the only one that didn't say "Xander you shouldn't help us it's too dangerous?" That's why when she sees him outside the shop, hugs him and says "I love you, Xander" is such a gem of a moment.
 
It is one of my favorites of any season.

I love the single scoobie perspective episodes and Xander is my second favorite character. I also like his car. 🙂 Naturally, I love this episode

I can't think of a thing I'd change...maybe Oz eating the zombie at the end, but his line near the finish was funny about being "oddly full"

It also has one of my all time favorite lines by any of the scoobies.... "I like the quiet."
(plus the 'Dirty Harry' aspect of the monologue before that quote was really funny to me.)
 
I feel I'm the odd one out here.
This episode bores me to tears. I can never watch it without zoning out. I guess it's good as an episode to play in the background as you're doing something else...but...ehh.
 
I enjoy this ep, I think it has some extremely funny moments-- but it also has some very boring moments, and the whole premise of it is kind of poorly developed. Xander's been a Scoobie for over two years at this point, and all of a sudden (based, so far as I can tell, entirely on the fight at the beginning of the episode) he's too weak and (to borrow a pharse) kitteny to fight with them? All of a sudden they want to protect him from everything he's seen over the last couple of years? That's sort of silly. It's true that he needed validation of his role within the Scoobies, but the others had never voiced such concerns before this ep.

I thought it was boring when I first watched it and I enjoy it a little bit more whenever I watch it. But I am always more interested in whats going on in the background to really pay attention to Xander..
 
I had no ideas what was going on when I first watched it. I mean, it looked like stuff was hitting the fan but nobody was really talking about it. Then I got what the writers were going for and I began laughing hysterically. I think it was the scene where Buffy and Angel are having another one of their cliche dramatic "don't leave" conversations and Xander just stumbles in. Overally, the episode was really funny and established his character well.

Favorite line:
Buffy: "Giles, that was the bravest thing I've ever seen you do." (And we will never know what it was. hehe)
 
Just saw this ep again, and I have a couple of thoughts.

In the fight in the cave at the beginning, I thought that was amusing that Giles was telling Xander he shouldn't get involved, when one minute earlier, he was getting the snot kicked out of him by the demon, too.

Xander's smile at the end - it couldn't have ended any other way.
 
To be perfectly honest this is the only buffy episode out of all the seven seasons that i can say i truely didn't like at all... i think i just found it frustrating...i mean the hell mouth was opening up bringing about an apocalypse and instead all we really get to see is Xander driving around a bunch of dead guys...

I know this episode is supposed to be Xander orientated but i think that's why i didn't like it... it's just not a good episode in my opinion which is weird cuz alot of people seem to really like it...
 
I really related to this episode as well as Xander in general. That's probably why I like it so much, plus you can never go wrong with xander-friendly comedy!
 
It's a decent episode, but any episode with Faith has to be at least decent. I thought the whole Xander/Faith sex thing really played on how desperate Xander was to have sex, and just a way to get over Cordelia. But it was really sad when Willow found out, =[

I love The Zeppo... It's a really awesome Xander ep in that it shows you what it was like to be his character... It shows his horny teenage boy side, his "I want to help" side that he always seems to show around Buffy and the other Scoobies, and this "I want to be cool" side when he tries to fit in with the dead dudes. I felt bad for him that Faith used him but overall, it was a nice little dose of comedic relief. 🙂
 
This isn't one of my favorite episodes, but I can appreciate it for what it is. I don't give too much credence to the crazy apocalypse subplot and Xander's exclusion of it... I don't think the point of that was for us to infer that the Scoobies didn't think Xander was worthy of including.... I think it was just meant to add to the craziness of the episode... i liked the contrast that while the rest of the scoobies as a group saved the world from ending yet again, Xander also managed to save the world from ending all on his own and he didn't feel the need to make a big gaudy deal of it all after it was all said and done. It was a worthy testament to his character I thought 🙂

you're not alone, I thought it stunk too.

which is a shame, because the last Xander centered episode "The Pack" was quite good.

YEP. One of my very favorite things about the whole episode and Xander himself. 🙂 And at the end when he walks off without glorifying Cordelia's insult with a comeback, he gets even cooler.
