Themed Weddings

My wedding was medieval.

My husbands groom cake was the sword in the stone. 😀

I wish I could find a pic . . .

I kinda liked that Harry Potter theme, actually looked pretty elegant. Though I couldn't get the cake link to work. 🙁

I don't think I'd have a themed wedding but I would surely love to be invited to one of those Potter themed weddings 😀

It looks like fun! :D
I never want to get married so don't really think about weddings much. I don't think themed weddings are for me anyway though, I personally find them a bit tacky. But as long as the people involved actually enjoy them then that's all that matters.

I think all weddings have a "theme" some of the themes are just more classic than others. I love these creative themes, especially for a cake. I think it is easier to get away with an awesome creatively themed cake than to make a potentially cheesy creative theme come to life for an entire ceremony/ reception...but when it is pulled of well, it is just really cool.

Not sure about the me wanting to get married part, but I guess that if I would, there could be a themed wedding. But it really depends on the theme. I'm actually into weird things, they're more special. So if it would be a jokey theme, just to make people laugh, that'd be nice. I've never actually thought of what wedding I like. I only like looking at wedding dresses and say that about 90% of the wedding gowns are ugly. Not really into romance either, so...

I don't think I would want a themed wedding, we would save that for the honey moon. 😉

But I LOVED the Bangel and Storm and Rouge cakes, there were just amazing.

Okay, after thinking about it, maybe not a themed wedding, but a different from the regular wedding cake. I don't want the traditional wedding cake. But if themed wedding, I think I'd only want Buffy theme.

I agree with arabella, most weddings have a theme; some are just more creative, specific or noticeable (ie: a Harry Potter wedding or a star trek wedding).

I can't picture myself ever wanting a fandom themed wedding; but I wouldn't turn down an invite to one. That HP wedding looked like it would have been fun to attend. 🙂

My mom had a candy themed wedding. But between you guys and me, I think it was just because she wanted to do the lollipop center pieces. They had two big circular ones and a big long one in between... And yeah, it was on purpose, and it did look like what you're thinking of.

I agree with sisterofmercy as long as the people involved enjoy them they are fine. I enjoy being able to see the photos. If I ever get married the only theme sort of thing I would push for would be something zelda related for my groomsmen presents.

I would love to have a themed wedding or, at least, a geeky wedding. xD

I found this blog which tells of what looks like the most amazingly geeky wedding ever. The wedding party has lightsabers!

As for all those cakes. I am absolutely in love with the Star Trek one, the Nightmare Before Christmas one and the Aragorn and Arwen one!

As for the Harry Potter-themed wedding. I love Harry Potter as much as life itself, but I think I'd rather be a guest at that one than the bride... I already get enough crap from my friends for wanting a Harry Potter tattoo (or even liking Harry Potter).

My wedding theme was just "fall" - I didn't really have set colors other than fall ones. (Gold, latte, cream, with fall leaf colors.) I surprised my hubby with a groom's cake that I thought was pretty sweet though. It had the symbols for the fire department, EMTs, and rescue squad, with a bride dragging a firefighter by his jacket collar topper. 🙂
