"There Can Be Only One..." Again

Fans of any or all of the "Highlander" franchise probably know by now that a remake of the original movie is being planned. (Without the input of the character's creator. Sound familiar?) i owe the original film on dvd and have recording of II & III...the films where getting dafter as the went on. The Source was terrible. big blue smurf...wtf...

The Series I watched but not all the time..it was good in the main...

Have a bad feeling about the remake but you never know...I guess

*sigh* This hurts my eyes.

I am one of the biggest Highlander fans out there, but there comes a time when a person just needs to let something die (even immortals). Look at everything that has come out of this franchise so far....

You have The films:
Highlander
Highlander 2: The Quickening
Highlander 3: The Sorcerer (The Final Dimension)
Highlander 4: Endgame
Highlander 5: The Source (straight to video - no surprise on that one if you've seen it)

TV Series:
Highlander: The Series
Highlander: The Raven
Highlander: The animated series
Highlander: The search for vengance
Highlander: The Adventure Begins

Not to mention the video game that apparently came out.

The first film was good. The second was absolute crap. The third was basically a remake of the first. The fourth attempted to combine the movies AND the show, and the fifth went straight to video. The tv series was awesome. In fact, it's what I'm the biggest fan of when it comes to the franchise. The Raven was OK, but the constant attempts at more tv series', films, etc. just sort of show that the idea has DIED.

LET IT GO!!!!

Even the fans don't want to see any more attempts at Highlander. We just want to remember the good things about it...we certainly dont' want to see it dragged through teh mud repeatedly.

I am tentatively hopeful for the remake. If they do it right, it can certainly be as good, if not better than the original, but if there is a series of movies planned, they shouldn't make the mistake of having the Gathering and the Final Prize in the first movie. That was the biggest mistake that they made before. It's like making "The Alamo 2" or "Titanic 2." Once the story is ended, it's very hard to make a sequel. And I agree, the series was better, and one of the main reasons that it WAS better, to me at least, was that it was an ongoing story. The Gathering might be drawing near, in fact Duncan said in one of the earlier episodes that the Gathering was imminent, but all mention of it was dropped soon afterward.
