In the rash of remakes/reboots/rehashings of various cult classic series, add "The Highlander" to the list. I know that some of you are fans of the original movie and/or the series, and I found an article that might be of interest.

Be aware of the cact that this is a commentary on what is said to be only the FIRST DRAFT of the new screen play, so the contents might not be reflected in the final version (God, I HOPE not!), but there are SPOILERS CONTAINED, so, read at your own discretion.

Once more................ POSSIBLE SPOILERS

CC2K | The Nexus of Pop-Culture Fandom - Advance Script Review: The Highlander Remake - There Can Be Only One, and This Ain't It!

As a true fan of both the original movie and the series, I pray that there is a massive re-write.

Is it just that hollywood have become SO unoriginal or is there really so much money in rehashing every damn thing that ever succeeded? I dunno
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

No no no you silly silly men(or women for that matter).
There at it again, leave stuff alone!!
Or i'll go to your house and hit you on the head with a spongecake!
I'll give you quickening,right around the lug'olls.
Even if i have got it wrong*he touches wood, crosses fingers, legs, and eyes*,because i didn't read all the posts, the thought of it sent all me blood through me brainpan.
I love the films 1-3,the series,the comics,the cartoon(did they do a cartoon?,if they did i liked it)

Yeah, they did a cartoon, and an anime movie. The Clan Macleod seems to have struck the mother load of Immortals
I've since learned that not only are they ruining,er remaking highlander, the film that started me on the road to all things sword and sorcery they are now remaking/have remade, the lost boys. Now i heard they were making a lost boys 2,but a remake is unfathomable,TMA.
Ok highlander was old,the special effects were, not so special, but the story, the score, and the acting was first rate.
Anyway,it was 1986,23 years ago,and christopher lambert(my idol at that time in my life)was a spry young geezer.
Besides, will the new film have Queen thumping in its core?
Nay!
I'm seeing muscly bloke, glamour model love interest, swirly CGI
effects and camera work,no thanks i'll pass.

Hollywood and other studios around the world have lost the plot, all they can churn most of the are remakes. And if not remaking films they bend or twist the rules on tried and tested favourites. Example, Vampires NEVER went out in the daylight because of the instant BBQ problem. Now they are creeping into the daylight, Twilight is an example (I have the film and like it, looking forward to the next one) or you have Blade who can go full light.

When the new Highlander comes out I shall wait for it to come onto the TV and then pass judgement.

It's not a remake, but I recently read that Pixar is now definitely, as in coming up with a working script and casting the major characters, making plans for a 2010 release of "A Princess Of Mars," one of my all time favorite novels (and the inspiration for both the "Highlander" and "Star Wars" series) as the beginning of the original trilogy, and with options for the rest of the 11 novel series. I have very mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it's a thrill to finally see the story come to life, but on the other hand, I have real fears, considering the way that Burroughs' other creations have been treated, that John Carter and Dejah Thoris will become parodies of the heroic figures that he created. Only time will tell, of course, and I have cramps in my fingers from keeping them crossed.

I understand your fears, one of my favourite comics when I was a kid was the Fantastic Four. And when I heard that they were being made into films I was really excited at the thought of my childhood heros being on film, but I have to say I was disappointed there was something missing but not quite sure what it was?

Yeah, they were kinda pitiful. The Silver Surfer was cool, though.
