but some of mine can get very close.

The Buffy Board Welcome Back says I have X-number of unread posts. Is there any place where I can find the damn things? I keep going through the whole result search forum and not finding them and it is driving me nuts....

I do have a gift for missing the obvious at times....have I done it again?😕

Hihi your title made me smile, probably because I'm also prone to missing the obvious.

In the little box saying Welcome back, beside your avatar, it will say X unread post. Just click on "unread post" and it will bring you to a list of all the threads with new posts.

I know - that's my problem. I go through all the posts trying to find which is the one I have not read. I find one or two that I commented on and check to see if I am the last person listed. Usually if I am not, than I already saw that answer. Then I go back and there is still the same number so I go back to the new post list and begin all over. It's positively Pavlovian. Occasionally I do spice things up by hitting my head on my desk and mutter words that cannot be used in front of toddlers.

Also, today it said I had 46 unanswered posts, but after I had answered about 10 it said I had only 2. So I don't even know if there are really 2 so I looked and looked and never found them.

Is the answer - learn to live with it?🙄

The way it works is usually as soon as someone comments on the topic since your last visit (aka when you refresh the page or when you log in), it will alert you that there are new comments. So if you're fallowing a specific topic and you're not the last person listed, someone commented after you and this is counted in "unread post". Also, unread posts refers to any unread post on the board, not just the topics you have personally written under. Sometimes, for some reason, even after you refresh the page, the "unread post" number doesn't change and there's a slight delay. Not sure why, I've had that problem a few times, but usually the system works well.

Also, if there is 46 unread post, and you start viewing the threads, this is like refreshing your browser. So the site knows you've seen the "unread post" and the counter goes back to 0. Until more people post, which explains the "2 unread post". The "2 unread post" would be the first listen. If you still want to view more post that you haven't had a chance to check out from those "46 unread post", they will still be indicated under "The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts.".
